VERY DISHONEST business practices that I will be reporting to the Better Business Bureau. I CANNOT believe these guys have not gotten a class action lawsuit against themselves yet. I selected 1, THAT IS 1 FREAKING report and you charge me for 6 and now they WILL NOT respond to my request for assistance. I will be disputing this charge with my credit card company and I will NEVER use Carfax again. I have contacted them 4 times and have gotten nothing but automated responses, the only phone number available will not let you talk to a person. Autocheck has better information, cost less and does not have any B.S. scams. https: // www. autocheck .com/ vehiclehistory / <- USE THIS IF YOU WANT A REPUTABLE SOURCE OF INFORMATION AND NOT SOME INTENTIONAL SCAM OF MAKING IT AS HARD AS POSSIBLE TO CORRECT AN ORDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

40 ft diesel pusher motor home had roof damage due to wind storm. Gieco paid $13k claim for new roof replacement, a very common loss in the RV world. I went to trade for a newer motor home last week. The dealer pulled the Carfax and discovered Carfax reported the roof repair as a total loss. Completely false and not even close. If it had been a total loss Gieco would have paid me fair value for the coach and taken possession and title. Four dealers all told me the report lowered the value of the coach by 50% costing me $35 thousand dollars and none of them would take it on trade. Carfax stonewalls accepts no responsibility, refuses to assist to correct the mistake or help in any way nor reveal where they got their information from. This one is definitely going to court. I will prevail.

On January 17, 2018, I ordered a vehicle service history report of my personal vehicle from Carfax. The reason for my vehicle service history order was due to the fact that I was planning to sell my vehicle and was intending to use the report as a selling tool. And in order to provide potential buyers a verification of my vehicle’s service history. However, the report didn't contain any of my vehicle’s service history.

I emailed Carfax and requested a full refund and Samantha from Carfax consumer affairs responded stating that they don't guarantee the information provided on their vehicle service history reports. And denied my full refund request. So basically consumers pay Carfax and pray for the best. In which is an unethical and unlawful business practice. Also, this is not the first time that Carfax has failed to provide me with an accurate vehicle service history. I do believe in giving companies a second and third change to gain my business. However, enough is enough.

MESSAGE FROM CARFAX:

Not all service facilities participate in CARFAX's free service record program. If service records are missing from the CARFAX Report, it means the facility the customer is taking the vehicle to does not provide CARFAX with their service data.

If the customer would like the services performed on their vehicle to display on the CARFAX Report, they should take the vehicle to a service facility that contracts with CARFAX.

CARFAX reported that there was structural damage done to my vehicle from an accident. This is completely false information as there was zero damage to the frame or unibody of my vehicle yet they still incorrectly reported this as an issue with my vehicle. I did not know until last week when it was pointed out to me by someone interested in my car.

I have been trying to sell this vehicle for over a month unaware that CARFAX had done this and consequently I have lowered the price of my vehicle by $3k because I was getting very little responses which I blame on CARFAX incorrectly listing damages to my vehicle. I will lose $3k from selling my vehicle which is how much below the value Edmonds and Kelly Blue Books suggests the car is worth based on the features and condition of my vehicle.

I have sent them several emails, called and tried to get help via chat and they have never responded. They report false information and when the I repeatedly tried to contact them to get that information corrected with documentation including a letter from the repair facility, a complete report of the work done that does not show any frame or unibody damages, photos of the damage to my vehicle and a police report the still will not respond.

If you have this happen to you take them to small claims court and you will win if you can provide the proper documentation. It is a fairly simple process to file your complaint with your local county court and very inexpensive as well.

Carfax will sell you as an extra a tag search package with the regular vin search package that will coat you extra and is absolutly usless. It is discribed as an unlimited tag search that will give you a carfax report for any tag. Well let me tell you my experience with that. No tag number came up with a fax or for that no tag number came up with the right car it was on and 95% of them came up with "we have no record of this tag". Like I said usless, and a RIPOFF! Avoid them like they were the Plague. They are not with the BBB and I can see why, they would give them a F- score. I hope I have helped someone avoid this SCAM to steal your hard earned money.

Thank You Ed for giving us this place to try to inform the masses.

Carfax offer defaults to "unlimited" reports. However, this is not unlimited VIN it is only unlimited by plate number. Don't be fooled. The offers are 1. (1) report 2. (5) reports 3. unlimited by plate NOT Vin number. You can cancel after receiving 2 reports. So if you want to get two FREE reports, activate the unlimited service but then cancel it after opening only 2 reports.

Also read other reviews where the reports are not helpful and may not report serious issues with the vehicle you are interested in. In fact, a vehicle I purchased new had 5000 miles at first reported service. However, carfax reported this as 50,000 miles. I ended up purchasing a vehicle that showed a clean report but actually had major damage to the passenger side. Replacing a cracked headlight alone cost me $1000. In addition, carfax does not offer a phone number to call for addressing your customer service issues. GOOD LUCK
