This complaint is regarding Career Tech's CDL training course in Lakeland, Fl.
I am a Type 2 diabetic. I am on insulin injections as well as pills for my diabetes. Because of this, most trucking carriers will not hire me. I was not planning on attending Career Tech because of this. The recruiter contacted me from Career Tech and stated that he had spoke to at least 4 different trucking carriers that would hire upon my graduation, even though I was having to give myself insulin injections. I got my DOT physical and of course, I was given restrictions due to myself being on insulin. I have to drive Intrastate for my first year. The recruiter at Career Tech still insisted that a trucking carrier would hire me upon graduation. Every carrier that he insisted would hire me after I got my CDL license only have OTR driving positions. The trucking carriers do not offer Intrastate driving positions. I have now graduated and have my CDL license and I am still unemployed.
I feel the recruiter misled me the whole entire time. I would not attend this school if you have any medical condition, because there's a good chance that you will be lied too.
