An organizatio named Canadian Laser Safety is trying to scam spa owners by sending them an official looking letter, demanding them to submit LSO training certificates. This company has no authority to demand a businesses personal information.
They have a so called compliance department. The tone of the letter and whole letter is crafted to make it sound like they have some sort of official authority. But they don't. There goal is to scare you into enrolling into their expensive training program. They threaten that if you don't supply the certificate or don't provide proof of enrolment into a safetly program, they will report you to the Ontario ministry of Labour.
I fell for this.
Bottom line is that Canadian Laser Safety (there is no INC, LTD or Company with the name) is a scam. Don't fall for it. Don't send them anything as they have no authority to demand for a businesses's private information. It should be between you and the government. These scammers have no right to ask for your documents.
They will send you a letter asking you to provide proof of an existing LSO Certificate or confirmation of registration from an LSO training provider by sending it to their Compliance Department by email. They claim that failure to do so will result in notification to the Ontario Ministry of Labour's Radiation Protection Service. As a result you could face fines of up to $25,000 for an individual, $500,000 for a corporation and/or imprisonment for a maximum of up to 12 months.
They go on to say that you can register for LSO training with any LSO training provider of your choice OR with Canadian Laser Safety.
Should you try to call them, you will be transfered to a voicemail box because their 'compliance officers' are busy.
I believe their goal is to try and scare you into taking their LSO training course.
They are not a government agency and you do not have to provide proof of anything to them.
