I purchased 3 dvr cable boxes from this company for $295. They werent compatible with my cable provider and returned all equipment in original packing within 4 days. I requested refund. I had to pay return shipping of $48. Jay would never return call or answer phone after first call. Told me refund check was being sent. Advertises no quesions asked 30day money back guarantee. Never received refund. This person is a thief and have reported him to attorney general of Colorado and BBB.

I ordered three (3) Motorola DCX3400 Cable Boxes from Thornton Cable through their web site. I spoke with Jay who said he could save me over $100.00/Cable Box if I gave him my Checking Account Number. Living on a tight budget, I aggreed.

The three Cable Boxes arrived on June 5th. Unfortunately, I needed Cardiac Bypass Surgery on June 6th and was out of action until June 24th. For the next several days, I worked with Jay and Comcast on June 27th Jay finally admitted that the Motorola DCX3400 Boxes would not work in my location.

So Jay sent me an RMA procedure to follow to return the three Cable Boxes. They were shipped out on June 28th and arrived in Thornton, CO on July 5th. UPS provided delivery confirmation which was signed by 'Sharma'.

Having spoken to Jay again on June 29th, he said he had another product which requires a dongle on each TV and tried to interest me in this product. He said it was a new startup company from Canton, OH. I asked him first to refund my money and then I would look at this product. He agreed.

I have phoned Jay three times and emailed him twice to:

1) Confirm the three boxes arrived at his location.

2) What is the status of my refund.

I did not receive a response from the five (5) communication attempts. So I am writing this report so that any other potential customers of Thornton Cable will be fore warned of the nature of Thornton Cable.

I will also be reporting this activity to other web sites as well as the local Chamber of Commerce in Thornton, Colorado.

I would like to file a complaint against Thornton Cable (DBA cableboxandmodem.com), 871 Thornton Pkwy, Thornton, CO 90221. On 5/7/2017, at Jay's recommendation I ordered three cable TV DVR tuners (one Motorola DCX3400 and 2 Cisco 8742HDCs for $410, $5 for handling and $35 shipping. They only accept payment by check even though the web site says they accept plastic as well, so I paid by check by phone. I was told that the order would ship in 7 to 10 days. I sent an e-mail requesting the shipment status on 5/16/2017 and never got a response. So on 5/17 I placed a call to them and got the receptionist who couldn't help and she took a message. I got no return phone call. On 5/19/2017 I received notification from UPS that Thornton Cable had made a shipment. The package was delivered on 5/24/2017, but it only contained the Motorola DCX3400 unit. On 5/25/2017 I called multiple times to check the status of the remainder of the order and again I only got the receptionist who could only take a message. I left a message for Jay asking what the status was and that if I couldn't get resolution I would contact the police. He called back later that day and said that his supplier hadn't shipped the units to him and that they would ship to me by early the week of 5/29/2017. Unfortunately I was busy and didn't get to follow up with him until yesterday.

I sent another e-mail 6/6/2017 and followed up with a phone call 6/7/2017. The phone call went to voice mail and he didn't follow up on either one. I had Metrocast cable installed to my house on Friday, 6/9/2017 and the installer attempted to install the Motorola unit I received but was not successful even after talking to his technical support people. The installer indicated that the unit might not be functioning correctly. I called Jay again and left a phone message and he returned my call on Friday, 6/9/2017, but I was at a grandchild's graduation so didn't get the message until later that night. I called him back that evening and on Saturday, 6/10/2017, and left messages both times. On Monday, 6/12/2017, I called again and the receptionist took a message. He returned my call on 6/12/2017at 15:25 and I told him that the Motorola box could not be connected and also asked what the status on the Cisco boxes was. He wanted me to go back to the cable company and get another cable card and try again to connect the box. It ends up that he shipped the Motorola unit for Comcast and it will not work on Metrocast. I informed him in my original email that I was on Metrocast for the Motorola and Spectrum for the Cisco units. I told him that I wanted to return the Motorola Box to him and to cancel the order and get my money back. He said that after we got the Motorola working he would immediately ship the Cisco boxes.

Again I reiterated that I wanted to return, cancel and get my money back based on his money back guarantee shown here as copied from the web page. "MONEY BACK GUARANTEE (please read paragraph below):All cable converter/descrambler boxes (retail/refurb) carry a money back guarantee. If for any reason you are not satisfied with the digital converter you have purchased, just email us to obtain a return authorization number and we can either repair or exchange the cable converter box or issue a refund. All digital cable converters returned for refund must be postmarked within 30 days from the date of the invoice. We are not responsible for items returned to us that are lost or damaged in the shipping process. Therefore all returns should be sent with the appropriate insurance. Return shipping and handling charges are non-refundable. Please allow up to 1 week from the date we receive your return to process of all refunds. However, our actual shipping and handling fees are non-refundable. Shipping and handling fees are actual costs and are not refundable. Any digital cable converter returned for replacement must be received before any digital cable converter can be shipped. After we receive the digital cable converter the replacement will be sent out within 2-5 business days ( subject to availability ). All exchanges are sent ground unless otherwise specified. Allow 2-5 days for shipping replacements. Any unauthorized use, tampering, either internal or external, will void all warranties associated with the purchase of your digital cable converter." Jay became very attacking and yelled at me and would not let me talk. I ultimately got no satisfaction from him and hung up.

To date, 7/3/2017 I have neither received the unshipped units, gotten an RMA number or gotten any of my money back. It's all a sham.

Prior to ordering I had check for feedback on cableboxandmodem.com and could only find one negative comment and it was later withdrawn since Jay rectified the problem. As a result I felt OK about the terms even tough in my gut I suspected a rat. After I got the notification from UPS that the package was coming from Thornton Cable, I checked for feedback on Thornton Cable and there is a ton of negative feedback on the official company name. In checking the address, I found a company, OPUS, that leases virtual offices for $99 per month and provide phone receptionist and other amenities, but not actual office space. There is a UPS shipping store at the same address. I do not know the owner's name other than Jay. It also appears that Jay has changed the company name a couple of times to try to stay ahead of the negative feed back.

Purchased a motorola hd/dvr 13 March and after following the directions to setup the box and calling Septrum cable I was informed that my cable provider does not support motorola systems. I contacted the support email and did get a RMA # to make an exchange for a Cisco product (supported by Spectrum in my area). I shipped the box back following their directions, must use Fedex or UPS (the address after looking this up is a UPS store).

After about 2 weeks I called asking about the exchange process and each time I had to leave a phonenumber and email address. I made several phone calls to the company's number and with my last call the person answering stated "this is just an answering service, not the company's number".

I have made one more attempt at contacting the company to get refunded before contacting the BBB in the company's area and the local sheriff for theft.

The owner of Thornton Cable listed on the Colorado secretary of state is Bianchini Jeffery and his listed work address is 871 Thornton Parkway Suite 138 Thornton, Colorado 80229

Under filing history and documents on the secretary of state web site the business has received two notices to renew the business license. This company is FRAUD. Do Not Buy from this company.

When doing my research, I found mixed reviews about CableBoxAndModem.com, some were very good others were very bad. I should have really focused more on the bad reviews....

I saw where many people complained about this company not answering the phone and not returning calls. My very first call was immediately answered by a pleasant lady who took my information and said a "tech" would call me back. About an hour later the infamous Jay returned my call. He was professional and polite, took my order and payment information and said that my three cable boxes would be shipped in 10 days or less. My first impression was, well they seemed professional and prompt. Well, they promptly debited my checking account and that is the last I've heard from them. Jay will give you an offer for a signficant discount if you pay by check versus paying with a credit card by ordering from Amazon. BTW, you may want to read the reviews on Amazon too.

It has been 20 days and I've sent four email inquiries over the last 8 days. I've also left two voice mails. Please, please, believe all the negative reviews that have been left and don't make the same mistake. They will take your money and you won't hear back from them.

I mailed a Check To Thornton Cable on 11-22-2016 for a cable box. When I received the box it never worked. I repeatly called Thornton for support, but did not get a call back. I then called comcast to help me. Comcast needed the serial number of the box to finish set up. When I told the operator the number she said that the box was stolen from a comcast service center in chicago and that I should return the box to comcast. A few days later Jay from thornton finally called me back when I told him I could not get the box to work he said he sent me the wrong box. When I told him that comcast said it was stolen he said they say that because comcast does not want people to buy there own box. At that point I told Jay I just want my $110 back. I continually call and I get a women who tells me she tells Jay but he is busy to call me back. I also have sent e-mails. I called Comcast fraud office about a week ago to check the box and they said the same thing as the first operator that it is a stolen box and is the property of Comcast. Now I wonder if this is a big scam where Jay gets boxes stolen from comcast and sells them to everyone who thinks they are getting new boxes.

Bought a DVR from them. Before purchase Jay would respond to voice mail and call back. I made a purchase and then communication stopped. The DVR did not work to my satisfaction. I tried to return but still not communication from Jay or the support email. After purchase company did not respond. I shipped the box back and asked for a refund. I still have not heard back from them. Once they get your money they will ignore you. This is a shady business and I would warn others not to deal with them. They insist on not using credit cards because that will give the consumer the ability to contest the transacton. Jay insists on a check or COD so that there will be no ability to contest the transaction when the consumer finds out it is fraudulent.

I purchased a cable box. It came, I set it up, and I didn't get HD channels or menus. I had to call Jay, the service rep, many times, and he did not respond. Finally I asked for a full refund on the website, and he called me and promised to send a new box. The new box never arrived, and no subsequent calls or emails have been returned.

On October 18th 2016 I purchased a Motorola DCX5001 cable box from the Thornton Cable website at cableboxandmodem.com. Oddly, the website does not allow use of credit cards. They require that you pay with a bank check instead, and have a rather clunky process in place for entering your bank account/checking info. Anyway, I went through this process and implemented my order and the next day a guy named Jay called me and asked me to call him back because he wanted me to buy a Motorola cable box called a DCX3400M instead (about $300.00), which he claimed was actually the better deal and cost $100 bucks less. So, I went ahead and did that and on October 27th, the box arrived.

All seemed fine at first; the box came with the cable card and remote and HDMI cable and instructions on how to set things up. I was quite pleased. I followed the instructions and got the box activated with Comcast without any problem. All worked perfectly, except for DVR.

Although the box had a 500gb internal HD, the RECORD function would not work. And in diagnostics mode, the internal DVR displayed "Status: Disabled" with no apparent way to enable DVR at all.

Well, since having a DVR box that I owned--instead of having to rent from Comcast, was the *ONLY* reason I bought the box, I was a little annoyed and emailed support with details on the issue. That was on October 27th 2016. I have since written the company every day since then asking for help, but they have not responded.

I've submitted multiple requests via their online email support system as well, but have not received a response. I've also called their general number and Jay's direct number multiple times a day, every day since the 27th, trying to get a single human being who I could talk with about the problem, to no avail.

If one uses GoogleMaps to locate the storefront for "871 Thornton Parkway in Thornton Colorado 80229", which is where my box shipped from, you will find that this is a UPS store (even though my shipment came via FedEx).

The company name "Thornton Cable" doesn't actually exist online. It's not listed in the yellow pages. The domain registration for cableboxandmodem.com implies that the domain owners reside in Canada. The f

The *ONLY* formal number I can find for this company is 800-512-9171, but it is never answered. You can only leave messages. (*Note* See the link above for the whois registration report for the cableboxandmodem.com domain. Several different numbers are listed there. I have not yet called each of these, but I will.)

So…I’m very angry at the moment. They make extensive claims on their site guaranteeing that you get what you pay for and that they will help you, but they do neither. I will therefore be taking legal action against them to recoup my money along with whatever punitive damages I can get as well.
