Avvo.com Reviews

In Dec 2018, I submitted a negative review on an attorney because he did not disclose his fees when asked. It was a factual review and never violated Avvo's community guidelines. It was approved and posted. The attorney called to harass me about the review.

Then the attorney disputed the review, so Avvo took it down. They emailed me a request to verify my review and then they'd repost it. I did and the review was reposted. I received an email confirmation saying so. Then they took it down again. I called their customer care department and asked for a manager.

The manager emailed me saying that although I was promised a reposting in March, he had the authority to change the rules because the attorney disputed. I called customer service and was treated rudely before being disconnected. I called again but could not get through (they screen incoming calls).

I was able to get through to the sales department and asked for my complaint to be escalated. Still, there has been no resolution. These people are loyal to attorneys because those are whom pay Avvo. The customer service manager should play by the rules rather than take sides with attorneys.

Avvo.com is a HUGE SCAM. Created to mislead and confuse consumer, they provide false/fake reviews and NEVER post real reviews from individuals who actually hired an attorney and are willing to prove the information they are posting. If a lawyer in their database are not paid client, they will post negative review and contact an attorney to ask for money in exchange of negative review removal. If a lawyer is a paid website subscriber ("pro" on their website), they will automatically remove it since they take payoffs for lying and keeping public from knowing the truth. Avoid avvo.com - it is a shameless SCAM.

The avvo.com is the web site that has legal attorneys profies so before you choose the attorney you can read their profiles and see who is right for you.

When I tried to write a negative feed back to one of the atorneys the avvo refused to do that replying with general responce: that they can't post my review because it "do not meet our community guidelines".

So they don't have any negative reviews on the attorneys that have their profile with them.

So the avvo.com review page is useless.

Avvo is heavily advertised on the internet and TV as a place for people with legal issues to look up attorneys with good reputations so they can feel confident that you are getting a good attorney. Here's the ripoff. I posted my legit experience on AVVO about an attorney who had been practicing for 30 years and had billed me for multiple services she had not provided and ones that by law was not permitted to. I caught this and filed a complaint with a new attorney. A hearing was held and the judge made her return the money to the tune of several thousand dollars. This was clearly documented in court records. That attorney practices out of St Petersburg Florida and her name is Nancy Cavey.

However when I complained (Should have with Florida bar, but there are just as bad) to AVVO which is what they are allegedly about they removed my statements. I tried again with less information and still AVVO removed, why? My comments were professional and accurate with fact's but AVVO kept removing it.

I have researched and found AVVO gives the attorneys you complain about the right to have the comments removed......Now how can anyone trust a site that allows the attorney you complain against to simply request it be removed. AVVO is not your answer, unfortunately neither is the Florida Bar. Both entity's look out for one another and almost never take disciplinary action against an attorney unless it is gross, gross negligence the type that makes the news.

AVVO is simply doing what the Bar association should be doing and should not to be trusted when choosing an attorney.
