We purchased our extended warranty through AIG on July 23, 2015. Even though we had the manufacturer’s basic warranty, we wanted to extend the protection to 5 years. We previously had a Sears Appliance Protection Plan on all our appliances, but their service had been noticeably declining , and we decided to try a different company, which led us to purchase an agreement with AIG for our dishwasher and range. In September 2017, a problem appeared in our dishwasher. We called AIG and was told that they’d have to first do an " investigation to determine whether or not we had insurance on the dishwasher with their company. When we hadn’t heard from them in 2 weeks, we called them and was told there would be a service charge if the problem had to do with a plumbing problem. So we hired a plumber who stated very emphatically that there was no drainage problem and there was no plumbing issue in connection with the dishwasher. They then scheduled a technician to come to our home. After several appointment-time changes were made by AIG, a tech finally came to our home, ran a partial load and determined that, yes, indeed there was a problem, but it would require getting AIG’s approval to fix it. Several appointments were made and broken by AIG. More than 2 months later we were promised that today they would be here. They told me someone would call the next get before and reconfirm. No one called yesterday, nor today. We called today to and was told they would have someone out in a few days. Finally we canceled it today after over 3 months of promises, changed appointments, and nothing but the runaround. Every time you would call them they would send you to yet another department. The appliance providers they offered were terrible. If you call them, they would never call you back. They would not honor the agreement to repair the appliance. Today was the last straw. We took off work today because they promised they were going to come out either in the morning or in the afternoon. Nobody called, nobody showed up. We called just to follow up as to what was going on, we were told that they changed the appointment to tomorrow. And they did not let us know. They promised us a prorated refund which we are to supposedly going to receive in the mail within 30 days. Today we went back to Sears for our extended warranty on the dishwasher and range. We have never dealt with a more disingenuous company in our life. It’s almost as if their motto is..hold off on giving any service for as long as you can and if you must, give as little service as you possibly can. Buyer beware. Do not use this company.
