Affirm, Inc. Reviews

I made a purchase at a furniture store using Affirm as the financing company. The item was delivered and found to be defective. I filed a dispute to receive a refund because at first the store did not want to a refund. Then the store manager agreed to do a full refund and pick up the item. They came and got the item and gave me a receipt showing proof they picked it up. Then they sent me another receipt proving a refund to the original form of payment which was Affirm. I sent that information to Affirm, I uploaded it more than once, I emailed it to them, I called many times. They closed the dispute and said too bad final decision you still owe the loan. How can I owe a loan on a bad item I no longer have when the original merchant gave the money back to Affirm?? This has to be illegal. After looking online on many sites unfortunately they do this to a lot of people. Their customer service is all foreign and reads from a script, no one helps you. No one reads the papers you upload showing proof of return. 2 months I have been fighthing them and no help at all and now they are charging me more money in interest.

Affirm is a company run outside the USA, by the same type of people who do phone scams that steal money from our elders. The phone number I provided you can see for yourself.

Affirm lies when they say they don't compound interest, and the % they change to from what they advertised is immense. 11% changed to 30% and it is in fact compounded daily. The only money I have ever gotten back are from when the merchant canceled orders, where the merchant charged partial payment themselves. Affirm to this date, owes me over $1500, as the merchant has already shown me they had already transmitted the refunds for canceled order, back in late August 2022. The merchant has been one of the few helpful and reliable sellers I been doing business with for years, and despite their saying it takes 15 days to process a refund, has actually only taken 24 hours, where my actual credit cards showed the refunds posted. With Affirm, they have not once, refunded a single cancelation, or return, and 90 days time is long enough.

The merchant involved, I can't list, even though they are helping me as it would be advertising, and this site is for posting ripoffs, not advertise.

Because I'm located in California, and they are outside the USA, I am filing a small claims against the bank inside the USA, and lucky for me, in California!!

If you have dealings with Affirm, and they ripped you off like they have with me, where they not only have not returned funds they have already taken, but at least failed trying to take more using my debit cards as they will always decline, unless I say yes to the text message request, and that's never happening.

If you are in CA, and what they owe you is under $7500, use small claims. Most judges are well aware of Affirm and their scamming, and will hold the banks accountable. Don't ever with Affirm, just ignore them. They will attempt to use arbitration to get a judgement against you, even when they owe you money. Using small claims in California cripples them, as they can't use any arbitration firms who they pay, to get judgements, and they can't use their highly paid attorneys either, as attorneys are not allowed in Small claims court in California.

Bring your invoices, cancelations documents, and bank statements to court, and even though it says not to list court fees on the instructions, list them anyways, as many judges will in fact, include them in the judgement.

Been doing this for years, and wanted to warn everyone, stay clear of Affirm. Banks can also do charge backs, if not to much time has elapsed. With Affirm, and the way they operate outside the USA, IM choosing to do small claims, to protect my credit rating. A winning judgement in your favor, will require all credit reporting agencies to remove any bad info Affirm tries to add, and block them.

The holidays are around the corner, don't let Affirm take advantage of you. I sure as heck not.

In 10/11/2022 I cancel the ticket with priceline and I asked them to cancel the loan where I made it by Affirm, I spoke with them too many times andd they still holding the loan againest me. I try to speak with the supervisor, but they didn't allow me to speak with him/her. I told them that I spoke with the france airline, and they did cancel the ticket. they want me to pay for something I don't have it and been canceled. I don't know why they want me to pay for something I don't have it. it doesn't make sense at all. The loan against me war not fear special I have a protection insurance give me the right to c ancel and not to pay for it.

I had an account with Affirm in 2017 for around $2,000 which I paid off in full in around 5 months. Never was late. Starting around last February I started getting phone calls as early as 3 to 6 AM in the morning from Affirm sayinf "Secure Your Account" If I didn't answer they would send me a text message and leave a voice mail.

This continued for several weeks. I did everything to try to stop the calls. I called the company, I called ATT, I tried to block these calls on my phone but they kept coming through. Then I got a text saying that my order for this particular color of an item was approved.

The problem with that is I never ordered anything and financed it through Affirm since 2017. So I concluded that if I was getting all these calls about securing my account and calls about an order I didn't place I figured someone must have ordered something in my name.

I called the company again. The calls go to Colombia or Costa Rica. These people really can't do anything except pass on the information I provided. But they did say there was around $1,000.00 charged to my account. That wasn't me.

I finally got a email from some one at Affirm on February 3rd, saying that after they looked into it they could see someone hacked into my account. See email next paragraph:

"Hi Jan,

Affirm is a terrible company to do business with. I feel sorry for anyone who is unemployed and needs to support their family. They are actually threatening people and sending people to collection during the corona-virus rather than let them defer their payments for a month or two. I was in the hospital and on short term disability with a 40% reduction in my pay.

I just needed one month to get on my feet. They do not allow customers to defer because of the coronavirus. The late payment will go on your Experian report and ruin your credit for 7 years. They just recently stopped charging late payments however, your credit will still be effected. I was reported late for two months when I was only 30 days late.

I hope they did not receive any federal stimulus money from us taxpayers. If I find out they did I will write my Congressman and let them know what type of company this is. Please use a credit card instead. You never know what life has in store for you and this company does not care about you or your repeat business. All my creditors allowed me to defer my payments and worked with me. However, because of Affirm, I had to take my stimulus payment and paid them off in full. I would rather be late on my rent then deal with this company ever again. They are an appalling and greedy company that has ruined my life. If you are smart you will stay away.

I have called affirm and Coleman/renegade furniture multiple times. When I refused delivery due to use bad dog smelling damaged furniture in August 2018. Lori Crawn (Coleman Furniture/renegae) a waste of space was useless, I told her I didnt want a replacement I just wanted it all cancelled the furniture was wrapped in a nasty furniture moving covers then wrapped in clear moving wrap and they tried to deliver it to me. I saw the huge hole in the bottom and ragged legs already on then the stench of what smelled like the sofa was used in a dog kennel. Affim/point2point movers and coleman/renegade furnture are sketchy to say the least and now they want me to pay for those filthy items that where returned I am not doing it. On Sept 20, 2018 affirm sends me an email stating that the loan was reported cancelled on Sept 15 and will be fully cancelled by September 25 2018.

Affirm threatened to send non payment of cancelled items I refused and don't have to the credit bureaus.

Then during the call tonight sends me an emaol stating I owe them the full amount. I told them over the phone I won't pay for filthy damaged used furniture I refused delivery of and I don't have the items. I am a permanent and totally disabled military veteran and they are using threats. The girl I talked to at affirm tonight was an idiot, she kept speaking fast not making sense and then I told her to slow down and I will see about legal action then she said I wrote your were a retired veteran I told her I didn't say that. I told Houzz the issue I have had with Coleman renegade furniture and would be best just to not use them as a supplier nor point2point shippers they are all sketchy point2point shippers used an app that was timed which lets you see the pic the after a they leave its gone so you cant say that the whole thing isnt sketchy since they tried to deliver that mess. I am allergic to pets and started to go into anaphylactic shock good thing that sofa was not placed into my home I could have died.

Stay away from Affirm I received an email tonight that the two badly assembled chairs were refunded but not the filthy sofa and was told by affirm if you that that canceled the dispute and had to put another dispute for the filthy sofa. I told them that is stupid and I won't pay for refused returned filthy furniture and all the keep spouting is that they are going to damage my credit by putting it on my credit report. I told them I am not paying for what I don't have. Stay away from all above. I have sent pictures and video that shows the items being returned to point2point truck and still they are trying to make me pay for what I don't have but they will charge you over $45 to return 2 badly put together chairs as restocking fee.
