The lifevest was delivered to me in mid-October, with statements that my medical insurance company would cover the entire bill. The device immediately proved to be defective. As I walked into the grocery store a young child pointed to me and said "Daddy, he has a red light on his belt!" I immediately grabbed the power pack and looked to see that indead the buttons were lit up red and the screen stated "Beginning treatment" There was no loud sirine or vibration on my back. I squeezed the buttons to cancel. It switch to delay and right back to "Beginning Treatment". I pulled the battery. I was also carrying my portable ECG and ran a test. It reported normal heart rhythm. I called Zoll tech support and all they did was laught at me and hang up.

This happened several more times and after three week I talked to my cardiologist who also stated that the device was defective, and called Zoll to get it returned on the 4th of November.

Then a month later I get a bill from Zoll. The statement that the insuance company was paying the full amount turned out to not be true and I had quite a bill. I called Zoll again to see why I was getting billed and they told me that the insurance does not pay for the full amount. In contact with my health insurance I found out that they have been billed two months for the three weeks I had the device (approximatly $10k for both months total).

I have been fighting with them since. Today I called them and was told that two months payment was correct since they do NOT bill based on how long you have the device, but on only a monthly full cycle. If the device arrived to you on the 28th day of the month and you had it until the third day of the next month, that's two months.

They finally cut a deal on the billing, but fail to send and address of where I can send a check.

Just like every other report on this site and other sites Zoll shows up at your hospital room when you are not your best and tells you the vest they provide will be covered by insurance. They charged the insurance 7 thousand dollars then sent me a bill for almost 5 thousand more.

I have 0.00 co pay and would never ever taken this POS even if it was one dollar. It was awful and almost malfunctioned several times in the middle of the night which would of shocked the heck out me by mistake.

There customer service was useless if I needed hel and finally the billing engaged me in a verbal knife fight by being arrogant,interuptive and condesending. PleasE please DONT USE this POS and dont deal with them at all they are ripoffs and frauds.

I WAS VISITED BY A ZOLL EMPLOYEE WHILE RECUPERATING IN ICU THAT I MUST WEAR A ZOLL LIFE VEST WHEN I LEFT THE HOSPITAL. ON THE DAY OF MY SCHEDULED RELEASE, MY HEART SURGEON SAID HE AND THE HOSPITAL HAD BEEN WAITING FOR MY INSURANCE TO APPROVE PAYMENT.

I INFORMED MY HEART SURGEON THAT I WANTED TO GO HOME AND BE DISCHARGED. AFTER AN EXTRA 3 DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL, MY INSURANCE COMPANY AGREED TO PAY FOR THE ZOLL LIFE VEST. I WAS TOLD THAT MY INSURANCE COMPANY WAS GOING TO COVER THE COMPLETE COST OF THE ZOLL LIFE VEST. THIS WASN'T TRUE. HOWEVER I RECEIVED A BILL FROM ZOLL LIFE VEST FOR OVER 5,000. WHAT A RIP-OFF.

FURTHERMORE, THE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT IS CRAP. IT CONSTANTLY GOES OFF FOR NO REASON. USUALLY IT IS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. I WAS TOLD I HAD TO WAIT 90 DAYS BEFORE I COULD HAVE A PACE MAKER SURGERY. I SENT THE PIECE OF s**t BACK BEFORE THE NINETY DAYS AND THEY STILL CHARGE ME. I FACT THEY CALL ME A MONTH OR SO AFTER I RETURN IT ASKING ME IF I TURN OFF THE DEVICE BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT GETTING ANY READING.

Zoll.com loyal employee for ten years and am owned thousands of dollars in back pay. Their products are crap from China. Make America Great Again! They kill people in medical distress with their junk defibs from overseas. Emergency crews don’t have the budgets to pay 3000% markup on these leads. Zoll is anti American and a greedy corporation. Buy American!

I HAD TRIPLE BYPASS SURGERY. I WAS SCHEDULED TO LEAVE THE HOSPITAL 1 WEEK AFTER SURGERY. I WAS VISITED BY A ZOLL EMPLOYEE WHILE RECUPERATING IN ICU THAT I MUST WEAR A ZOLL LIFE VEST WHEN I LEFT THE HOSPITAL. ON THE DAY OF MY SCHEDULED RELEASE, MY HEART SURGEON SAID HE AND THE HOSPITAL HAD BEEN WAITING FOR MY INSURANCE TO APPROVE PAYMENT. THERE WAS NO MEDICAL REASON FOR ME TO STAY IN THE HOSPITAL OTHER THAN TO RECEIVE APPROVAL OF THE INSURANCE FOR A ZOLL LIFE VEST. AFTER 1 EXTRA DAY OF STAYING NEEDLESSLY IN THE HOSPITAL, I INFORMED MY HEART SURGEON THAT I WANTED TO GO HOME AND BE DISCHARGED. HE ASKED ME TO WAIT FOR THE INSURANCE APPROVAL FOR THE ZOLL LIFE VEST. AFTER THE 2ND DAY OF EXTRA HOSPITAL STAY, AGAIN MY INSURANCE COMPANY HADN'T RESPONDED AND MY HEART SURGEON AGAIN ASKED ME TO STAY IN THE HOSPITAL 1 MORE DAY. I AGREED TO WAIT 1 MORE DAY. FINALLY, AFTER AN EXTRA 3 DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL, MY INSURANCE COMPANY AGREED TO PAY FOR THE ZOLL LIFE VEST. I WAS TOLD THAT MY INSURANCE COMPANY WAS GOING TO COVER THE COMPLETE COST OF THE ZOLL LIFE VEST. THIS WASN'T TRUE. TODAY I RECEIVED A BILL FROM ZOLL LIFE VEST FOR $1510.29. WHAT A RIP-OFF.

FIRST OF ALL, I STAYED IN THE HOSPITAL 3 EXTRA DAYS WHEN I DIDN'T NEED TO BE THERE. WE TOOK A VALUABLE HOSPITAL BED FROM SOMEONE WHO COULD HAVE USED IT MORE THAN I NEED IT. SECONDLY, THE ZOLL LIFE VEST IS A "JOKE". I DIDN'T NEED THIS VEST. I DIDN'T WEAR IT FOR 3 WEEKS AND NO KNOW KNEW OR CARED THAT I DIDN'T WEAR IT. I WAS SOLD ON USING THE ZOLL LIFE VEST BY MAKING ME BELIEVE IT WAS TOTALLY COVERED BY INSURANCE. I THINK THE DOCTORS GOT A KICKBACK FROM ZOLL TO PLACE THEIR LIFE VEST WITH ME. THE ZOLL EMPLOYEE TOLD ME IT WAS "ABSOLUTELY" NECESSARY THAT I WEAR THE ZOLL LIFE VEST. THIS WAS TOTALLY UNTRUE. ON SATURDAY (TODAY IS MONDAY) I RECEIVED A BILL FOR $1510.29 IN THE MAIL. TODAY, I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM THEIR BILLING/COLLECTION DEPARTMENT.

I WENT THROUGH THE ABOVE STORY AND ADVISED HER I WAS TOLD IT WAS COMPLETELY COVERED BY INSURANCE. I WOULD NEVER HAVE AGREED TO ACCEPT THE ZOLL LIFE VEST AND I CERTAINLY WOULD NEVER AGREE TO THE CHARGES FOR AN UNNECESSARY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT THAT NO ONE KNOWS IS USED OR NOT. SUPPOSEDLY A SIGNAL/MESSAGE IS SENT TO ZOLL WHEN SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE DEVICE OR THE PERSON WEARING THE DEVICE. WELL, I DIDN'T WEAR IT FOR A LEAST 3 WEEKS. SO, THERE WAS NEVER A MESSAGE SENT. I AM ON SOCIAL SECURITY WITH A LIMITED FIXED INCOME. I OFFERED ZOLL $5/MO. THE BILLING DEPT REFUSED MY OFFER. AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED, THE ZOLL LIFE VEST WAS A TOTAL RIP-OFF AND I CAN NEVER RECOMMEND IT'S USE.

While in the hospital in June 2014 after suffering a heart attack and stroke, someone came in and put a Zoll life vest on me. I did not have insurance and they were trying to get me Medicaid.Everyone knew this at the time. I have no idea who ordered the vest, who put it on me but I was told I had to wear it twenty four hours a day. So I did, for approximately 5 months. I did get the Medicaid insurance in August, which covered the services retroactively back to June. All bills were covered, or so I thought. In September of 2015 (yes over 1 year after the initial vest was put on)I received a bill from Zoll Life vest. I spoke to some kid (sounded very very young )and explained that I had the insurance at the time and why are they billing me a year later? He said they had a billing mix up. I told him that wasn't my problem and to go through the insurance co. He said they weren't paying the bill. I asked to speak to an operator and they put me thru to some lady that was rude and wouldn't listen and I Told her I wanted a supervisor to call me and she finally hung up on me. Never got a call from a supervisor. Two months went by and got another bill from them. Called them and explained the situation again to another person. The reason they weren't getting paid is because a year had gone by and they hadn't billed the insurance company. This is no small bill. It is for 3370. I told them it was their fault for not billing the insurance company and I was not going to pay for something because they had a billing screw up on their end. I told them it was bull**** and the guy hangs up on me after once again asking for a supervisor. So I have now left a scathing message for Jason Whiting, who is the president of Zoll Life vests. We will see if he has the decency to call me back.In the meantime I have read numerous reviews of Zoll and there are many, many reviews on their incompetence in the billing department and I thought it was time to let people know that IT IS NOT OK TO RANDOMLY PUT ON VESTS WHEN PEOPLE ARE AT THEIR MOST VULNERABLE TIME (almost dying from a heart attack),NOT BILL THEIR INSURANCE COMPANY FOR OVER A YEAR, and expect to get paid because they never sent a bill to the customer or notified anyone after waiting a year from the service time. It is reprehensible that they should even be allowed to bill customers directly due to their incompetence in the billing department.
