Worldwide Travel Services Inc. is a very popular travel agency, especially in the Bangladeshi communities of NYC. They have been doing this business for last 28 years! Since the day I have been in this coutry, I have always booked tickets with them while traveling back and forth from Bangladesh. Who would know they could do such a fraud after 28 years!
I, along with my mom were planning to visit Bangladesh during the end of Summer. So I went to their Jamaica office and bought tickets for Qatar airways for two of us. It cost me $1750 for the two tickets. They gave me a receipt as I paid cash (they charge extra for credit card purchases, they say it's tax!). They also gave me a printout of the reservation confirmation page, as always.
I did notice at that time that there were no seat numbers on that page. I asked them and they said the airlines (Qatar) doesn't allow them to select seats so much ahead of time. I trusted them, because as I said, I've been always buying tickets from them for the last 4 years!
I always maintained contact with them via phone even after I bought the tickets. It wasn't until Thursday, 06/22/2017, that I heard two people talking about that travel agency, that they ripped off a bunch of people and flee away! First I thought they were joking. But as I started calling their numbers, I soon found out that they weren't.
It's been 4 years since I've come in this coutry, so still quite new to the laws and policies. If anybody can help me out regarding what actions can I take at this situation, I will greatly appreciate that. Thank you.
