PREMIUM ATE UP CASH VALUE OF POLICY

Our cash value of over 8,000.00 was eaten up over the course of Wilco taking over Conseco until now. Then we received a notice that we owed over 500.00 for a premium or we would be cancelled. I called the company and told them my premium of 81.00 was to never increase. They almost laughed. We have been paying well over 30 years on this policy and now I have to cancel it. We are both in our 60's and cannot afford this policy anymore at this exorbitant price. We were ripped off!!!

Conseco Life insurance payments for a 115K policy was under about $250 a month for many years. Wilco Life buys them out and raises the premium to almost $1200 a month and Next year is is going up to almost $1400a month. It doesn't make any sense and is an unreasonable increase in premium.

Same issues as everyone else. ripped off. original Conseco policy was a 20 year payment life policy with term rider to be paid in full for life after 20 years.

I understand the policies like mine were sold(?) to a new company, which really was just a company set up by Conseco named Wilco life and then with a pseudo class action suit allowed and "settled" with ridiculous attorney fees and resulted in giving policy holders a few extra months coverage in case of default; the company changed the conditions and premiums of the policy and are now charging outrageous premiums, which as they are increased causing most of the elderly policyholders to default or cash in for a very small cash value which has been decreased to a minor amount by inflated 'cost of insurance' deductions. Outrageous!!

Horrible Service on Death Claim - 2 Months & Still Hassles

My father had a policy for 23 years. It had started with UPI, then sold to Conseco and now sold to Wilco. He passed away while on vacation in France. We contacted Wilco the next day and told them of the foreign death. They said it was not a problem and the only thing they would need would be the death certificate. I reminded them it was in French, and they said it was not a problem, they had people who could handle it. It then took 3 weeks and 4 phone calls to simply get the death claim form. We turned it in and was told everything was good. 2 days after we were told that on the phone we received a letter in the mail (dated before our phone call) wanting a notarized statement about him passing away in France. It included his citizenship, address, his passport number, tickets to and what was scheduled to return trip. It also included asking where he was buried (back here in the US) with the names and addresses of 2 people who attended the funeral who were not related. That statement as offensive as it was was sent in on November 9th. On November 20th we called and confirmed that everything was good and they payment would be in our hands in 7-10 days. Just because of the hoops they had us jump through, I just called again today to make sure it was all good (November 26th), and now they have decided they want a form from the embassy in France. Like they didn't know they wanted that form from the start?

It really is seeming they are doing everything possible to delay payment as long as possible. It turns out the promise of being there when needed is just a lie.

Rip off on payment disbursement

My husbands mom passed away in December and a third party company loaned the cost of the funeral with the agreement with Wilco that they would pay this back from policy mother in law had. Funeral was in January and the 3rd party just got paid 3 months later and the beneficiaries have yet to be paid. Its always a new form that needs to be signed when they call !!! Total rip off artists. Its a shame they are allowed to rip people off during time of grief

Wilco life

I have 4 policies. My husband is not able to do his own personal business due to health. This company is raping seniors of health benefits. I’ve been paying for myself, my son, daughter, and husband. Calling company today to see what is going on. They say my husbands insurance will be 462.89 a month now. He is retired and on fixed income. This is over double. This is the second time it’s increased in 5 Years.. Any ideas?

They prey on the elderly and dying

20 years without a missed payment but they cancelled the policy while my father was hospitalized on his deathbed and no one will let me speak to a manager. They have said they will call me back but no one has in over a week now. When I call back and say I'll wait for a manager they just hang up on me.

Rip off

I am having the same issues discussed in previous blogs. My husband policy all of a sudden tripped. When questioning the increase you are made to feel that you should know it's going up because you are aging. We had the policy over 30 years with no increase when it was Conseco .

What can we do about this, it's not fair to have to start over. This is a rip off

what did you do?

I just received a letter on my mom's policy that the grace period ended and has increased to $260. She was paying less than $50 a month. Where can we call to seek more help? Thanks

Wilco

Hi, were u able to settle with Wilco Life Ins? I am in the same boat right now for my moms policy. They kept increasing since Wilco took over while the original contract says $93.13 for 36 years. My mother got this policy when she was 64 and she is now 83. To make the long story short, she was paying every 3 months thinking she has enough to cover for 3 months but since they kept raising the premiums the policy lapsed and we tried to get it reinstated but they didn’t even wait for one day to review her reinstatement docs and sent her a letter in one day turned around that says she was denied bc of prescriptions history. I called my mother’s primary physician and I was informed that no one from Wilco Insurance Company called their office asking for my my mother’s medical record. This company prey for the elderlies. This is an abuse. Now that they think they are probably going to die soon they will do anything so they don’t have to pay out. I am not done with this scammers. They already settled in Georgia and Florida with the same complaints. They were raising premiums to the elderlies which forced them to stop paying. This is not over. If u haven’t rectified your issues with this company yet call me. My number is 702-557-4663. Let’s take this to National TV and on social media. I will not rest till this company goes out of business.

Total Scammers

Started out with United Presidential Life 48 YEARS AGO just after we were married. We NEVER missed a quarterly payment and were NEVER late. They sold to Conseco and all was still well. THEY sold to Wilco Life and everything went straight to hell. Out of nowhere and with no explanation our policy went from $150 a quarter to $197 a MONTH!!! Their increase ate up the accumulated value and here we are at 68 yrs old with no life insurance. I hate them, and hope when their time comes that THEIR insurance company screws them the same way!!!!

In 1989, after the death of my husband, I bought life insurance policy because my husband had a life insurance policy when he passed away and the company was absolutely wonderful and they personally delivered a check to me within two days of my husbands death and I was able to take care of all my husbands funeral expenses. Because of this wonderful service I went to the same company and got a $100,000 life insurance policy. The money was taken from my account to pay for the premiums of $157.00 monthly.

In 2018 I received a letter telling me they had canceled my policy due to lack of payment. What?

I wrote to the Insurance commission. They contacted Wilco and Wilco said they were going to reinstate me one time! They increased my paymnent to $340.00. They take the payments from my account monthly.

Last month I received another letter from Wilco. The letter said they were canceling my policy because the premiums were not enough to cover the policy. What?

I called the company and was told that I was not in arears. My policy was fine.

Today I received a letter telling me that my October 2020 payment was $498.00, begining in December 2020 my monthly paynment would be $545.00. and them December 2021 my monthly premium would be $623.00.

I realize that I do not have much longer to live ( I am 86). This is rediculous to do to people who have worked and tried to take care of their families all these years and then be treated in this fashion. I have worked all my life and provided for myself until just recently when I was furloughed due to Covid. Then after being furloughed my boss called and said they had eliminated my position.

They cancelled my father stating they haven't received a payment in 9 months which isn't true because no insurance company would let u go that long without paying. So they canceled and then said he could get reinstated if he paid 1300 dollars fee he couldn't afford it and he'd been paying on it for 32 yrs. They are nothing but scams!!! i'm gonna sue them!!

Got a letter saying that my policy entered the grace period on March 11, 2020 and unless I pay $954.00, my policy will cancel on July 11, 2020 even though they are still taking the premium I have been paying of $173.83. This policy has been in force for about 20 years at this premium - it was moved evidently from conseco to Wilco.

I am a senior citizen and this is unfair to me to raise the load so much that the premiums will be insufficient to cover the COI since my premiums have always been paid. What about the interest the policy was suppose to be earning. No help from Wilco. I am going to get a lawyer and start another law suit.

Wilco insurance company

Premium went up from 174.00 to 599.00 when Conseco changed to Wilco life insurance . My husband has been paying for over 25 years and now most of his retirement goes on premium payments ! This is so unfair ! If premiums get any higher we won’t be able to afford it . We will lose our life insurance in our 70s .

ALSO HORRIBLE SERVICE ON DEATH CLAIM.

Been sending them everything they ask for and each time they then want more information. And it’s weeks in between each time I hear back. I have called countless times. People are rude! Today I did speak to a gentlemen that was kind and totally could not understand why my claim was not being paid. He then contacts “claims services” and oh now they need another form and also every heir on the form also needs to fill out more forms and get them notorized.

When does it end? I am the beneficiary of both my parents Wills. I am also the executor of both.

I have sent them everything under the sun and still not enough.

I’m going to try my local news and social media next!!

I have been on conseco insurance company then wilco life insurance bought conseco. I have been paying $61.73 monthly for about 25 years. Today 10/20/19 i got a letter from wilco life insurance company stating my premium will be increased to $1698 monthly starting next month. This company is trying to rip me off. As a retired person i can not afford this premium monthly. It is more than the amount of money i am receiving monthly. I have no choice but to discontinue my wilco life insurance policy. I hope the board of insurance of nashville, tn will investigate this company they are ripping off their costumers. They are doing illegal business. They are doing this so costumers will discontinue their policies and they got all the premiums paid in money years. What a crook they are.. What a shame.

Stay away from WIlco

I can not even get them to send the death claim forms. Every time I call, they say it is in process. How long does it take to process a damn email? It has been over a month already.

Same story as others

Same story as others. For 22 years we paid premium faithfully. Now it has risen from $6000 a year to almost $20000. Can't afford it. So now I lose the insurance that was to protect me when my husband dies! What can you do?

Wilcac sent me a letter on April 26, 2021, advising me they took over the Wilco policies and nothing would change as far as receiving my annuity of $50 per month. April's check arrived, but not May, June, or July. They have not responded to my inquiries by mail. On the phone, they told me I was not in their system and they could find no record of me.

I SEE A PROBLEM COMING

I have been trying to change my mailing address for over a ear with this company and they still send my bill to my old address. After reading these reviews I'm starting to realize they're hoping to be able to cancel my policy for non-payment of premiums so they can charge me a large penalty to get reinstated . Will be handing this matter over to my lawyer.

Thank you everyone for the warning.

Diminishing CASH VALUE?

THREE (3) TYPICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF LIFE INSURANCE AS A BETTER CHOICE:

BENEFITS AND PREMIUM PAYMENT ARE GUARANTEED PERMANENT

ACCUMULATED CASH VALUES MEANS GROWING/INCREASING AND NOT DIMINISHING.

CLAIM FOR DEATH BENEFIT ARE GUARANTEED AND CAN NEVER BE PROJECTED.

HOWEVER, THE ACTUARIAL COMPUTATION OF WILCO LIFE INSURANCE IS VERY DAMAGING TO THE :

MORALE, EMOTIONAL, PHYSICAL AND ECONOMIC WELL BEING OF THE OLDER GROUP OF THEIR

INSURED BENEFICIARIES.

Liars

Had policy for nearly 30 years. 100k with Philadelphia life then Conceco and finally Wilco, paid all premium s and one day got cancelled letter for lack of payment. I was surprised and angry because I knew I paid, but they said I could apply for reinstatement. I didn't reveal that had been hospitalized but they found out from MIB, medical information bureau and declined me. Yes I had lied so I blamed myself for being denied. As I can see from the many reviews they are corrupt and good for me I am rid of them.By the way they put a complaint of a note in the MIB and no insurance company would insure me. After 3 years i was able to get insurance with well known company and thank God they are behind me. I have 2 other policies with them on my children that are now adults. Thanks to the reviews I plan to cash them and take what I can get before they get a chance to screw them/me over

Avoid. Bought a universal life insurance policy from Philadelphia Life in 1996 to cover my house mortgage(just in case). They became Conseco which then became Wilco. Been making premium payments without fail. Now they want me to pay additional monies to keep the policy active.

stay away is all I can say.

  • Apr 20, 2020

unversal life issue

04/20/2020 started w/ Philadelphia Life in 1996, which was changed to Conseco, which is now Wilco. premium has always been $39.44 ; got threat letter last week stating I was now in default. ; funny thing the premium notice still shows a required payment of $39.44 ; got one late last week for $39.44 ; I called & talked w/ lady named Regina, who was not very helpful.

she said I was notified in accumulation statement in August 2019 ; why is premium stated still $39.44 if this is true? I also have ZERO accumulation amount dating back to April 1996.

Death claim runaround

My father purchased a life insurance policy from Conseco 19 years ago. During that time the Conseco name was changed to Wilco. My father paid his premiums monthly like clockwork. Upon his passing i filled out all the required paperwork as instructed. In approximately 10 days the runaround began. Wilco would request information. I would supply what they requested and 10 days later they would require a new piece of info. I would call them and i would be on hold for 15 minutes at a time over and over. The most incompetent customer service you can imagine. This went on for four months. I would send exactly what was they requested and 10 days later they would come up with a new requirement for me to rundown. I was beginning to wonder if my father had been scammed. Finally i had to contact my attorney. After a few letters from him they sent me the check. A very bad experience. They put off payment until you get them cornered. A terrible way to treat a person that is dealing with the death of a loved one.
