Vivint Solar, Inc. Reviews

I was careful to never get into any contract again for this very reason and yet I was fooled. A PREDATORY company which exists only to exist as a parasite. BEWARE AND STAY AWAY. I live in Ft. Lauderdale. I was fooled by Kole. I spoke to other former employees of this horrible company who have all admitted that the corporate brass teach and train them on how to use whichever tactics will ensure a sale.

This has become a redundant fact about this company as one researches the details of the lawsuits against them. It begins with door to door sales. Your assured that if for any reason, you decide you don't want to continue the service down the road-that you can cancel at any tme and that it would be easy.

This too is a lie. Once they hook you, all the sweet whispers in your ear reveal to only have been lies. He introduced his presence to me in the neighborhood with phony stories about a recent crime wave in the area which is what brought them there to begin with. Naturally they used fear to begin the conversation.

I am a customer of Vivint and have been so for 2 years, but against my will and all better judgement. Day 1, after signing as a customer from a visit of door to door Vivint sales person, they went to work within the hour, the night prior to me leaving on vacation to install their system. At 10 PM, the contractor busted a chunk of stucco and concrete off my wall big enough to put your fist in, damaging my home, so I had to stop installation short of completely bring done.

It took 6 months of fighting with Vivint to get their claims office to fix my damage and even then they sent me a terrible contractor who left a half done crap job and was apparent that it was done by an amateur. It had to be redone again by the same person before Vivint would pay for the damage. At that point, I went back to Vivint and repedidely asked for them to continue the install and add 4 more security cameras, to which their reply was that they couldn't, because the financing was signed off on, past the point where any changes could be done and wouldn't budge on adding the cameras, lest I pay $4500.00 out of pocket, to which I replied, more or less..

you can go to h*$@, as I had already dropped around $5000.00 through their financing. Bottom line, the system was not completed, during or after the fact, and I have only 2 cameras and needed 6.

Over the course of the next year, from Dec 2018 to about late 2020, October, about 1 year ago, I have had numerous problems with Vivint Technology that was installed.

1. Although I purchased the system and the control hub, I don't know how to gain access to super user features to manage the wireless network to the cameras and remote devices. They won't allow the customer to have that login information to their own equipment.

2. The location of the hub is central to my home, but doesn't have enough signal strength by itself to reach beyond 38% strength to the cameras and is worse to the doorbell camera which has failed 3 times in 2 years and has had to be replaced by nothing short of full on arguments with support and management due to their sheer uneducated knowledge of how their own equipment works and a mindframe that a customer couldn't possibly know more than they do.

3. The alarm has went off, and passwords entered correctly and system disabled, but still have dispatch come over my loudspeaker only to tell them it's another failure.

4. The android app, with brand new, top of the line Samsung high speed smartphones, with a pile of ram and processing power crashes and hangs constantly. The alerts when people ring the door bell, doesn't allow fast enough access to speak to anyone at the camera before they leave. Completely useless to my office and home, considering I need fast response and knowledge of my surroundings.

5. Short of all of the above problems, they still process ACH transactions for payments out of my checking account although the software, hardware and customer service is garbage at best.

6. Their account management verification server is offline, and has been for months, with a backend server HTTP 404 message. I, nor anyone else on the planet can login on the computer to see their account status, reset passwords for their own account, see status of financing, amount owed or anything related to the account, because of this.

After calling support, and informing them of the major problem, and asking for escalation to a manager they said they could submit a software request with a 5 day turnaround time, which would be an enhancement request, not an emergency. When I asked them how a security company support line doesn't have an emergency escalation number, they told me they were never given one. I said, that is piss poor for a company who is in the "security business", whereas a customer can't manage their own account online.

I would, in a hot second rip this equipment out and pitch it out in the road, but the damage that Vivint had to do to install it would be visible. I have holes for every camera, the hub, drilled holes for door sensors, window sensors, glass break sensors and a ton of other crap.

Avoid doing business with these guys. If I had a piece of advise to pass along, it would be to hire your nosy neighbor and their guard dog before ever humoring Vivint to be your security company.. you will have better results.

Vivint Solar has brought our family hardship and unwanted stress, due to neglect and breach of contract. Their massive neglect left us paying a huge PG&E bill and thus put a financial burden on my family. We even had a Vivint representative three way call their billing department and even the Vivint representative was met with harsh words and no results. In accordance with Section 2(C) of our Vivint Contract, it states that Vivint Solar will “send You an invoice reflecting the charges for Energy produced by the System”.

For over a year we didn't receive invoices. Furthermore, the contract also states that Vivint has 30 days from the date of a request to respond, but they missed the 30 day mark. Every time I try and work out a deal with Vivint, I end up having to call because they messed up. They consistently make the customer fix their problems and don't live up to their promises. Then they lie to the BBB that everything is resolved when it's not. The representative even said the words "If you keep complaining on forms or filing with the BBB, then I'll just have to keep contacting you". Which basically tells me that if I don't give up, they have a paid person dedicated to dragging this out until I fold first.

The last correspondence between myself and their rep showed that the Vivint company doesn't care about how I feel or that they've put my family through mental stress for years. When it comes down to it, they don't want to lose money and would rather have an upset customer instead. The stress of their instability and lies, for years, has really warn us down and in turn my kids can see it. I don't want my kids seeing mommy and daddy so upset, but Vivint is relentless to let us leave the contract, which was brought on by their flaws and carelessness.

In 2017 A rep from Vivint Solar approached me about putting Solar panels on my home. In the course of the conversation he found out that I have rental property in the areas serviced by Arizona Public Service and asked me if he could see if his company could put solar panels on those homes. I gave him permission to go to the homes and measure the roofs and make up purposals for me to review!

Then I went out of the country for a time and when I came back over half my 14 rentals had been fitted with the panels and were hooked up! The rest were nearly so. By the time I figured out what was going on, they were all done. I had seen no Contracts and and not authorized one of the installations but yet they were done.

It has now been a year and a half since, and I have uncovered much forging, fraud and facts that were not disclosed to me in the begining. Vivint Solar kept saying that I had signed the contracts. But I did not. After the panels were all installed, lease payments started coming out of the one account that I had been swindled into giving a check on for $1.00.

Thomas Powers explained to me that that check was necessary to prove the company was mine and that it was not going to be cashed or used in any way. The checkwas cashed and lease payment began to be drafted from my account.

I have been able to stop the drafting of the payments and have been able to work with APS to get the panels unhooked from the grid, but the panels are still on my roofs causing more damage everyday. Each time it rains, water seeps in through the holes and damages more of the insides of the roofs and I have no way to get into repair the holes as the panels were installed so close to roofing materials so that real repairs can not be done.

Vivint Solar was supposed to be responsible for the repairs to the roofs and I have had no luck getting them to even offer to come look. This has been an all around horrible experience. I have Panels on 14 roofs I did not sign an agreement for, damaged roofs I can not repair, and now leins on all fourteen of the properties for the amount of the lease payments that I did know anything about because I did not receive the contracts before the installations happened.

I had Vivint Solar panels put on my roof in August of 2017. Today is July 28 2018, and nothing is running yet. I was told by the salesperson that it should be from 4-17 weeks for all paperwork and inspections to be done. Well we are just about 52 weeks in and Vivint Solar is not working. My system should have been on since January 2018, but since it was raining and not much sun out I wasn't really worried. But once the sun started to come out I starting getting a bad feeling so I started calling. So many excuses and they were all directed at PGE. So I asked to speak to supervisor but none available. I was told a supervisor would call me back the next day, that was months ago and I yet to hear from a supervisor. The only way I got there attention was after I started posting reviews like this one on different social media platforms. I posted on the Vivint Solar website, yelp, bbb, consumer affairs, Call Kurtis from the news, google reviews, solar reviews, best company, energysage, and now this one. I have an annual payment due in a couple months and have asked Vivint Solar to help with that since my system hasn't even been up any part of this year. But the rep is giving me the run around. I have emailed the Vivint Solar CEO twice already and can't get help from him either, so to all that are looking into solar, please please please do not even look at Vivint Solar. Save the headache and go elsewhere.
