Visconti at Westshore Reviews

Attempted murder, robbery, theft and continued break-ins on site. Do NOT rent here!! There are major safety issues that the complex refuses to address. We were woken up at 3am one morning to a gun discharging outside our 1st floor unit. We looked outside and noticed a man screaming for help and bleeding out on the street (we of course called 911). He had been shot and robbed. The complex will tell you it was an isolated incident to avoid having to provide a safe environment. That particular incident was isolated, but that doesn't mean it can't happen again.

After brining this to the attention of lower and upper management, we were told the man who had been shot was at the casino earlier that night. The regional manager (Rebecca Russell) said to me - Well what do you expect if you're a gambler coming home late from the casino. What?!?

So if you come home late you should not have the expectation of safety, but the expectation of getting shot and robbed?? At the time of the incident we sent an email notifying the complex and all they did was send an email to the tenants letting everyone know it had occurred and they felt it was isolated. No mention of how they planned to prevent this from occurring in the future, because clearly they had no intention of adding such measures.

Additionally, I've had my vehicle broken into along with numerous other residents. There have been multiple vehicle break-ins. In fact, during one incident, approximately 5 vehicles were broken into INSIDE the "secure" garage (and at least 2 outside the garage). One of those vehicles was a sheriff's cruiser and a firearm was stolen.

Even after being made aware of the safety issues upper management has refused to act and add the necessary safety measures to prevent further incidents. The lighting is inadequate, there is no security (if there is security it is clearly insufficient and not visible) and the locks along the exterior of the property are old and stick while trying to open them.

Maintenance was made aware of the lock issues several times and all I've ever seen them do is spray some WD-40 in the locks. However, the locks still stick so if you are coming in after dark be prepared to struggle some with getting the doors open (hopefully no one is following you). We decided it was in our best interests to leave the property due to the numerous safety concerns. Despite bringing this to upper management's attention, they still made us pay an additional $3,000 to break our lease.

Oh and they give you 30 days to pay it or they turn you over to a collection agency and it goes on your credit report. If you are good with the security issues at this property then by all means sign up, but I'm sure there are plenty of other properties who actually are concerned for their tenant's safety, security and well being. The main office staff are very nice and helpful, but upper management has got a long way to go.
