On 10 th Feb 2018 I made a reservation for my booking with Vanilla Airline from Hokkaido to Tokyo. Online reservation when I entered my banking details and press next step the screen disappear. I thought let me do the reservation again. However I thought to check my online bank statement to confirm the funds not deducted. It was already deducted. I assume the reservation is done for me and few days passes I got NO email from them. I sent them email and got reply there is no reservation under my name. I was panic. I sent an email again saying the funds were deducted from my account how come there is no reservation. After a week of no reply I rang them from Japan. She keep saying sorry and sorry I said hold on, I don’t need sorry what happened and why there is no booking under my name even though you have deducted the funds. She replied I will get the funds back and my reservation is not complete. I was surprise the page went blank after i made a payment and believing the reservation is complete. It was offer ticket and I said you don’t need to refund me back just do the booking for the same dates. They replied I need to do booking again and the fare was times four the offer price I did booking. I don’t understand they kept my money for over a week until now I have not got the refund yet, and they did not even send me an email explaining my funds will be refunded and I need to do booking again. Lady I spoke to her name was Matsubara, I don’t know if that is her real name, she was so bullshitting me. She said next day your funds were release and you should have got into your account. And she also said I should check with me bank when I don’t have my refund. It was a proper scam, during offer fare booking the page went blank just after payment was done. And a week later when I found out the my booking status is not complete and payment was done already for it. I had to re-book the ticket for same Flight paying much higher than before. It is a rip off airline and customer support keep tricking you with random information.

Vanilla airlines changed my departure date from dec 23 back to dec 16 while my arrival ticket to tokyo states dec 23 They refused to refund me and told me it wiould cost 1000 usd to change back to dec 23

A friend and I flew Vanilla Air to Hong Kong from Japan. No problem flying to Japan but we had a huge problem on our way back. We were delayed an hour and a half on the ferry from Macau to Hong Kong but still made it before the recommended cut-off. We arrived at the airport but there was no one to be found for Vanilla Air. They were all gone and there were no signs indicating Vanilla Air! We asked an employee of another airline and he said they left and that this is common. He also gave us a card with their phone number on it. I could tell he was fed up with dealing with Vanilla Air even though he was very helpful and nice to us.

We called the number and ofcourse it was busy all three times we called it. We had no choice but to buy another ticket with them because even though the price went up about to $500 dollars instead of about $275. We purchased the ticket and waited about 9 hours until the staff came back at midnight for the 2am flight. We argued but they said they couldnt do anything. We flew to Tokyo and spoke with the supervisor in Narita where the HQ is located. He had shouted "no refunds" before we could even explain what happened. We continued to argue with him until he gave up his managers name. He said there was nothing more that he could do for us. At this point we felt robbed and in dis-belief. We did email the manager Mr. Hisae Yamazaki. He said that there is no way his staff left early and that they could not refund us. We are still fighting this. We also discovered that many people have claimed that Vanilla Air commits a truncated scam with people involving long names. They don't confirm their passengers flights like other airlines and they force them to buy a new one at the check-in counter!
