Valleywide Restoration Reviews

  • Feb 17, 2018

Bryan Lewis / Valley Wide Restoration billed us and our insurance company for work he never did and inflated almost every charge on his estimate/invoice.

He committed insurance fraud by delibertly turning in falsified Dryout Logs to our adjuster and insurance company. When he was confronted by the adjuster about his Dryout Logs, he played stupid....acting like he had no idea what was going on and what the adjuster was talking about; refusing to submit corrected logs. Bryan played this game for over a month and held up our insurance money...our adjuster finally got tired of it and submitted his PPWK to the insurance company. Miraculously, it was approved.

When we received a copy of his "final" bill (we ended up receiving a total of 5 "Versions"), he was billing for jobs he didn't do. Removal of insulation from interior walls that never had any in the first palce.Removal of bathroom vanities and toilets that were never touched, billed for plumbing services when a plumber never set foot in the house, removal of doors that didn't exist, fraudulent measurements of square footage, etc. When we addressed these issues with him, he did everything in his power to avoid providing an honest bill. When we did receive another "Version" of the bill, he would move items around and combine them in such a way, that you were unable to compare the first invoice with the second. He'd adjust or remove some of the prices on the updated versions, but then increase other's. He deliberately made it impossible to compare one invoice version to another and did his best to confuse us.

In addition to the billing/fraud issues, he damaged the home itself; the floor tiles were damaged to such a degree that, due to their age (inability to find matching tiles) all had to be removed and replaced. He also nicked and scratched the kitchen cabinets (in numerous locations), unnecessarily ripped out most of the shelving in the walk-in closet, and tossed out (without approval) and damaged some persoal belongings. All of these damages we were forced to live with (cabinets) or pay for out of our pocket (federal flood proceeds cannot be used for contractor damage).

Last, but not least, Bryan hired a subcontractor (Pelican Restoration / Pelican Contents Restoration Company) to pack up all our personal belongings. Pelican is now holding everything we own hostage and trying to extort almost $14,000.00 for packing up a 3 bedroom home (this amount does not include furniture - the funiture went to a furniture restoration company)! We later found out that the guy running Pelican (Christopher Patrick Lewallen) was convicted of consumer fraud by the Arizona Attorney General in 2012 (see the other cases filed here on Rip Off Report); I'll be filing one as well. Anyway's, Brian hired these guys, but slinked off somewhere and refused to handle (or even acknowledge) the mess he created. To date, it has been 6 months and we still have not received any of our personal belongings back....even after hiring a lawyer! We are currenly in the process of filing suit against Pelican.

From the start, Bryan never supplied us with any contract or pricing. He took advantage of the situation...the fact that our house and personal belongings were sitting in water and mud. He used the situation to avoid supplyig any pricing; the only PPWK he supplied was a work order. In addition, we found out from our adjuster that Brian had tried numerous times to get our insurance funds issued to him directly and he repeatedly tried to find out how much we were paid for the damages to our home....even having his lawyer threaten us with a subpoena.

We have since settled with Bryan Lewis / Valley Wide Restoration, but highly recommend everyone stay away from this company; it's not worth the risk doing business with these guys.
