Universal Protection Service Reviews

This Company is totally mismanaged, communication is very poor between employee's & Upper Management. For example, I was faithfully working for this company for 8 years without any merit increase or employee recognition incentive. I worked nights, holidays, weekends, or double shifts or what ever they asked of me to do. I took my Annual Employee Vacation a day before I was to return back to my work site I was told by the Operations Manager not to return back. I asked why he stated "I Don't Know". That's really unprofessional to tell someone the last day of their vacation not to return back to work . I never had any write-ups or anything.

My Site Supervisor for the last years of employment with this company was very incompetent he never informed his staff about site post orders changes but instead steady threaten and harass me everyday about my job performance to the point that it made me very miserable, stressed, and uncomfortable but wasn't telling other guards at the site about their job performance. Which created an atmosphere of hostility. I recommend any hard working individual to never work for this company!

Liars, thieves, crooked, house negros, and most of all Very unprofessional! These people are very uneducated and unprofessional. Especially one of their guards named Hugo at the Playa Vista facility. Not only did he get caught stealing a residents iPad from the gym, but he also sexually harassed residents by grabbing their asses and trying to cop a feel of their breast. He lied on other residents making false allegations against them that were detrimental to their lively hoods. This has all been documented and the guy still works for the company! I dont understand it. The other guards are obviously jealous of some of the residents and fabricate lies and conspiracy theories about them The sad part is management is aware of their behavior and do nothing! They take their job way to seriously, they told one resident that they were gonna call the cops because she had flaoties in the pool! (Sausalito at Playa Vista Apartment) Beware of Universal Protection Services they are definitely crooked and mischievous. They instruct their empl;oyees to keep an eye on the minorities.

If you like to work and not get paid, then this is place for you! My last day there was the 2/12/2016 today is 3/11/2016 and i have yet to see my last check and severance pay (signed written agreement). The previous time i was scheduled to be paid was 2/11/2016 and I did not receive that pay until 3/3/2016. This was only after numerous calls to the Branch Office (Thomas Rue) who was very rude and stated it was out of his hands. He finally directed me to the corporate office who stated my money was sent to a wrong account, on 2/26/2016,

and again after various calls voicemails and emails, i received the card by mail 11 days later! I contacted Terry Jacobs (payroll) and Gloria Cruz on the following day to advise them i still had not received my last check and or my severance pay. NO ONE IN CORPORATE OR LOCAL OFFICE HAS RETURNED MY CALLS....VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! Potential employees BEWARE! You do have rights! Please contact the Texas Workforce Commission and file a wage claim. If you feel your rights to be paid have been violated please read The Texas Payday Law Title 2, Chapter 61.

I was employed by Universal Protection Services for almost exactly a year. My job title was Field Supervisor and my job was supposed to be inspecting job sites and staff. The first 11 months of my employment was spent sitting posts all over northwest and southwest Illinois. I was supposed to have access to a company vehicle, however, there was never one available for me. Because of this I was routinely putting over a 100 miles a day on my own vehicle and was never compensated.

It was common for me to be sent to an account to cover a single shift and then no one showing up to relieve me; so then I was stuck working a second shift. I would then drive an hour to an hour and half home, only to have dispatch call me asking to work at another account. Record keeping was so poor, that the on duty dispatcher would have no idea I had just worked a double. Another issue was being called hours after working a double while trying to sleep and being asked to go work another account. If you tried saying no or standing up for yourself, your job would be threatened.

Anytime I was sent to a new account, I would ask if there were any details I should now, anyone I should talk to, be aware of, any special instructions...etc They never could provide me with any information, because they were absolutely clueless. I was sent to several accounts that I discovered were armed accounts and I was unarmed. I was told by the client that I was covering for officers that had been shot while on duty, and I had never been told this by the office. One time I was reprimanded and chastised onsite by another Field Supervisor for not having a firearm. I explained I didn't have the proper certification yet. His response was that it was no excuse and proceeded to write me up. I reminded him that as we were both Field Supervisors he couldn't write me up and ordered him off the site. He said he would report the issue to our Regional VP. Result was I was finally sent to my firearms training course.

I was working an account, that was unarmed, and had strict policy of NO firearms onsite, period. I worked this account for several months and frequently other Field Supervisors would visit while armed. The client would complain every time, the behavior never changed. These little men needed their guns to feel adequate. I was reprimanded at this account by another Field Supervisor for a theft that occurred over my days off. I explained I had no idea what he was talking about as the client had never discussed the incident with me. He scoffed and began berating me. This all occurred on the salesroom floor in front of the client and customers. The entire time this little man was berating me, he had his hand on his firearm. I reported this to our corporate office. They promoted him.

I pity anyone employed by this company. I hope you have fewer payroll issues than I did, every check from start to finish was wrong. I terminated my employment after being paid everything owed me in December, 2013. That night at 11pm, I was called by the dispatcher and asked to work an account 70 miles from my home. Needless to say after informing him what I thought of the communication in their office, I informed him I was no longer in their employ.
