United Country Lifestyle Properties of Maine Reviews

  • Dec 19, 2019

This is a sad, but truthful report that I need to write about United County Lifestyle Properties of Maine. Two Agents, Peter and Phil McPhail represented sellers, who deliberately left the home we bought from them in dirty and damaged condition.

It has taken time, for me to write up this report, but it needs to be said, as it may help someone in the future.

I have written negative rip off reports and reviews on our buyer's agent, Carolyn Fish of Better Homes and Gardens - Masiello Group in Bangor, Maine. In truth, it is SHE who failed to represent our interest and SHE was "supposed to be" our buyers agent . The fault remains mostly with her.

However, there is blame here for the real estate agency and agents who represented the sellers of a home in Dover-Foxcroft, that we bought - with good intentions - and got badly ripped off by the sellers and their agents who did nothing to help us, except to throw a few dollars to us for paint.

We paid good money - $ 275,000 and the home should have been in pristine condition - but it was far from that.

I will not mention the names of the sellers - except to say that we were warned by neighbors that they are well known in Dover-Foxcroft area and have influence with prominent people in judicial government there.

Neighbors told us, that we would not get anywhere with any type of legal action. Also, we were told that the sellers are "spiteful" people, and we feared harm.

The sellers left a home, which we overpaid good money for in dirty and damaged condition. I had a list of 25 multiple item things we found wrong with the home.

The sellers left the pool in dirty condition, and damaged it. They took things from the house that, contractually, they were supposed to leave. They left the bathrooms filthy with human waste caked onto the toilets and body hairs in the shower. They left us with a broken water heater, leaking refrigerator, black grease on closet doors, the kitchen appliances very filthy, dirty floors, broken window blinds where the pulls on the blinds cut, so they do not open, dirty wood stove, electrical issues, mold, dirty walls, shoe marks on ceiling etc.

There is more I can say here, but this is very painful.

We ended up having fix things, and sold the house for $ 40,000 less then we paid for it, because the pain of all this made me very sick. Other local agents told us we paid too much. In fact, we were the Talk of the Town when we bought the house - in a negative way.

As I said before, our own agent, Carolyn Fish, is mostly to blame for this, but, even though Peter and Phil McPhail represented the sellers, they bear some responsibility for this rip off done to us.

The moral of this horrible story is that people must carefully investigate both the agent working for them - as a buyers agent AND also do some research on the agent representing the other party.

Make sure the agents have Character, Integrity, Responsibility, Fairness, Knowledge, a Good Reputation and - most important of all - has YOUR best interest at heart.

Read Reviews, both good and bad on the agents. Talk to people in the area. Get Referrals.

We do not want our bad experience to become your own. Believe me, trying to find a good lawyer to help you is difficult - especially if you don't have $50,000 for a trial.

In our case, these agents got their commission, and we got the shaft.

This review is being written under the First Ammendment of the US Constitution as Free Speech. We are thankful to the US Supreme Court upholding this right for all US citizens.

Needless to say, we will never do any more business with any of the agents mentioned herein.

Signed,

Wish we could turn back the hands of time to BEFORE we met these agents and sellers.
