Trinity Foundation Reviews

  • Sep 19, 2015

This report that is written firstly begins with the fact that commendation must be given to those who will in fact expose that which is corrupt such as greed. I see absolutely no problem in exposing falsehood. Greed was spoken of in the Bible and the apostle Peter spoke of those who would practice it and those who would be involved with it when he said this in (2 Peter 2: 3):

3. and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep

However, there has also been a terrible trend that has taken place with those who have taken up the mandate to expose that which is fraudulent and that is while they are so caught up obsessively to expose that which is fraudulent they have forgotton to be caught up in bringing souls to Christ who happens to always be True

This has definitely been the case with Ole Anthony.

In Ole Anthony's secular media-related involvement hardly if ever has he ever told those who have seen what is fraudulent in others to come to Christ who is True who indeed might be unsaved at the time. This is a shame to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus did not give us the mandate while it is highly commendable to expose what is fraudulent but He gave us the command (Mark 16: 15) to fully reveal Him by the preaching of His gospel-which is known as the gospel of Christ. Paul spoke of the seriousness of not preaching the gospel of Christ when He said this in (1 Corinthians 9:16)

16. for woe (a similar word for woe can be the word doomed) is me if I do not preach the gospel.

The Apostle Paul seriously warned about the fact that there was the doom of God's judgment upon those who would not preach the gospel of Christ and he included himself in that category also as well. It is one thing to expose fakes but to get distracted by this at the expense of not telling sinners to repent and turn to the Lord Jesus Christ when you have the opportunity to do so in the media is indeed great deception. The Apostle Paul warns us about those who would only be literally obsessed over discussions that produce only distraction from the gospel. These distractions he called “worldly and empty chatter” (I Timothy 6: 20-21) and those who were obsessed with this we see that the Apostle Paul warned had departed from the faith.

20 O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you, avoiding worldly and empty chatter and the opposing arguments of what is falsely called “knowledge”— 21 which some have professed and thus gone astray from the faith.

The reason why Paul would classify these distractions away from the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ as "worldly and empty chatter" is because of what Paul said earlier about these very people in (1 Timothy 6: 4, 5) when he said this:

4 he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, 5 and constant friction...

In other words such people who engage in such distractions away from the gospel are only interested in "controversial questions" or in other words controversy. Yes, the Apostle Paul does speak of those who can do this as those who can be greedy (I Timothy 6: 5) but people who wish to engage in controversy do not have to be ones who are greedy but instead can be ones who are not greedy but are those only after controversy instead. The Apostle Paul spoke of these people who engaged only in controversy as those who had turned aside to "fruitless discussion" (I Timothy 1: 6):

6 For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless discussion.

Paul is not against exposing false people (Titus 1: 12):

12 One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This testimony is true. For this reason reprove them severely so that they may be sound in the faith

But one should NOT be making it an obsession and a priority over and above the preaching of the gospel that you do not tell others to repent of their sins and turn to the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior while at the same time you may be doing the commendable work of exposing fraudsters and fakes (Romans 15: 19-20). Paul never made the exposure of fraudsters his highest aspiration.

19...I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. 20 And thus I aspired to preach the gospel...

Notice, Paul's highest aspiration was to fully preach the gospel of Christ not fully preach controversy. The gospel of controversy is not the gospel of Christ. Those who practice such are deceivers who are "empty talkers" because they are not full of the gospel of Jesus Christ in telling others to repent of their sins and turn to the Lord Jesus Christ and they are those who are full of deception themselves just like the people they are exposing (Titus 1: 10):
