Tricon Homes, Inc. Reviews

  • Sep 19, 2017

We purchased our home, brand new as it was being built, in 2013 from Jose and Tristan Berlanga who own Tricon Homes in Houston, Texas. We had various issues from the start and one of the major ones was water ingress through our window panes during warrantee period that they supposedly fixed.

Then toward end of 2014, beginning of 2015, the same issue still was there with water getting in through windows and leaving yellow traces on the stucco. After making our point and providing emails and pictures as proofs that the issue was still the same that was reported during the warrantee period, they did not have a choice but to come back and do some more repairs during which they assured us would fix the problem for good.

Guess what, now in 2017 and after hurricane Harvey, we are seeing signs of water seeping through the walls of our house and there are big gaps and cracks and yellow stains all around the windows.

There was water pouring in during the hurricane and now the walls are bulging, the wood floor by the windows are all bent, and when we removed the cover of electric outlets, water started dripping out of the wall...we are also seeing signs of mold at the base boards and the inside walls are getting yellow damp stains.

Of course, when we reported that to them, the answer was "Oh by the way, we're out of business and only respond to current warrantee claims. If you want, we can give you contractors names"!!!!

This is going to be great cost to us to redo the whole front wall of a 3 story town home just after it was built 4 years ago.

Well, we do not think it should matter even if they are truly out of business or now operating under another name. They are responsible for the hardship we have been going through and they are responsible for poor quality work that has resulted in great damage to a house we paid handsomely for. We did not exactly pay for a cheap house to expect cheap workmanship and this is not just a simple water leak that we could have fixed by caulking around windows. We don't even know from where all the water gets inside the walls!

And it is not just us. Our neighbors who own an exact duplicate of our house are also experiencing the same issue. How could this not be their responsibility? Just because it lasted couple of years to actually get to the point that we see the damage inside the house? You think if we knew what was going on we would have sit on it till it gets to this point?
