TreadWright Tires Reviews

  • Nov 4, 2018

My report to the NHTSA is as follows: I am reporting a unsafe set of 4 "Treadwright Tires" 285/75/16 Gaurd Dog tires with less than 100 miles and less than a year old, that are bulging and separating. One is bulging/blistering over 1/2" from high to low around the diameter and has tread lug cracks at their base, and the other 3 are bulging/separating 1/8"-3/16". These are unsafe for highway use. Treadwright contacted, but appears unconcerned about their tire safety.

These tires were purchased Jan 3 '18, and I received them in early March. Tire Pros mounted and balanced them, and voiced concern that the tires couldn't be balanced. When taken back to Tire Pros, they determined all the tires were separating with one about to fail completely. I will ship these to NHTSA for evaluation and testing in the interest of public safety, and to determine if Treadwright should continue manufacturing highway use tires using their current practices.

TreadWright is engaged in selling unsafe tires for public highway use, as evidenced by the other 4 reports on this website over the last year. Do not purchase their tires if you value life, limb, and property.

Personal identification I.E. Driver’s license, credit card, etc.) and vehicle registration may be required. All warranty claims must be filed online. To file a warranty claim please click here” on june 20, 2018, i filed a warranty claim with treadwright that included: 1. Photographs of the defective tire. 2. A copy of the original internet invoice/receipt. 3. Copies of the original installation receipt. The nature of my claim, as shown on the installation receipt from s&s tires was, "right front tire out of round. Will not balance." my request for treadwright o acknowledge receipt of my warranty claim was ignored and my request to receive a replacement tire was ignored. On 6/21/18, i sent another email that read, "please provide a tracking number asap.

Again, treadwright ingored my request. On 6/26/18, i received an email from [email protected], regarding their, "newest financing option.” i replied to that 6/26/18 email and wrote, "i am not the least bit interested in your financing options. Rather, i would like to receive a replacement for my defective tire.” yet again, treadwright ignored my inquiry. I began to have a queasy feeling about treadwright and decided to perform an internet search regarding their tire products, warranty claims, and customer service. I was shocked at what i found: first, treadwright tires is not a houston, texas better business bureas accredited business and there are several complaints lodged against them. For example, on 5/18/18, matthew w. Wrote the following review, "the tires were absolutely horrible. They made my vehicle shake immediately. The shake actually caused damage to the rear differential to my pickup. I tried several times to file a warranty claim but the warranty process is impossible. They will ask what the issue is, you tell them and then they just say this isn't a tire issue no warranty coverage. If you argue it with them then they require to have multiple shops test the tires and do "run out patterns" on the tires and all sorts of crazy expensive stuff.

The bottom line is that they will not warranty tires. The tires are no good. Please please please do not purchase these tires.” on 1/15/2018, al r. Wrote the following review, "on dec 29th in the morning i talked with a sales person at treadwright and was told the tires i wanted were in stock. Later in the day i ordered the tires online through affirm. Within minutes affirm sent me a message that the order was completed and i had been billed for the tires. After a week of waiting for a shipping notice on 8th of jan i decided to contact tw and find out what was going on. Mike on the chat line told me they had to make the tires and it would be 1-2 weeks before they would ship. At that point i asked mike to cancel my order and refund my money. He said he canceled the order and i would be refunded in 3-5 days. On the 15 of jan i contacted mike again through the chat line on the tw web site and inquired about why i hadn't received a refund. His response was that the tires were being built this week and would ship later in the week. I told him again to cancel my order and refund my money. Again his response was i would have a refund in 1-2 days this time. This is complete nonsense. Takes 30 min to take someones money and weeks to get it back?

When treadwright was located in south dakota i ordered several sets of tires from them and had good luck with them and their customer service was top notch! i'll update on if i ever get my money back. Buyer beware! on 10/27/2017, herb s. Wrote this review, "bought 4 tires with "e" or 10 ply rating. One of strongest ratings possible. Both front tires blew out within 2500 miles and one week apart, on an empty truck. Considerable body damage on both sides of the truck. Alignment damaged also. A former ****** inspector (**** ***** tire company) looked at both blown and remaining tires. He believes all four tires have major manufacturing or casing defects and are unsafe at any speed. Front tire blow outs cause lose of vehicle control and can cause fatalities. After +2 months no resolution from treadwright. This company's products are only safe in off road and at low speed. These are not road tires.” there are even more negative reviews with the bbb here: https://www.Bbb.Org/houston/business-reviews/retread-tires/treadwright-in-houston-tx-90034998/reviews-and-complaints and, at: : jun 11 2018, reported by: michael — kernersville north carolina, "purchased (4) 245/75/16e load range warden a/t ii s with premium wear and extended warranty for additional 49.96$ on 05/14/18,tires arrived on 5/18/18 and i had them professionally installed by gmc dealer, 3 out of the 4 tires took a lot weight to balance them because they were out of round,4th tire needed 83 lbs of road force to balance, and it called for 18 ounces of weight to balance, thetire tech deemed 4th non useable do to huge hump present in the tread area that made it severely out of round,i called treadwright tires, they shipped out a new tire, tire was installed, it took more weight than what they normally see, but it was on our with the three i had already.

I was on interstate running 72mph when i felt a major sudden vibration, i immediately pulled off on the next exit, the right rear had a huge bulge in the center of the tread, so a blow out was imminent,i put my spare on called treadwright, dad online chat & emailed them, finally was able to get someone on the phone, they said send in a picture, i sent them a picture showing the flawed tired, there email response was that it wasn't under warranty. The truck it was installed on is a 2500 series avalanche with 73,000 miles. I previously had bfg ko2 on it and they were flawless.Smooth till tread was gone, towed 30,000 miles. So now i have 0 confidence in these tires. I logged a complaint with the bbb of greater houston,tx and with the attorney general of nc Purchased online shipped to nc). My opinion, skip treadwright and go with the s, pay more and feel confident the tire will deliver as promised. And, on nov 29 2017, reported by: tim — sheridan wyoming, "one of the seven (7) retread tires that i purchased from treadwright failed within the first 200 miles resulting in damage to both my tow vehicle and the trailer that i was towing. The failure occurred on the right rear tire at a speed of approximately 50 miles per hour causing body damage to the right rear fender of the tow vehicle and the lower front of the rv that was being towed.

A second failure occurred approximately 150 miles later on the front left tire but i was able to get slowed down to 25 miles per hour before the tire gave out. I filled out an on-line claim due to the failed tire and submitted pictures of both failures. I followed this up with an email to [email protected] and have heard nothing from them. I was not expecting any compensation for my vehicle damage but was hoping reimbursement was available for the two failed tires! following this incident i removed all remaining tires and replaced them with new. Both the two failed tires and the remaining tires purchased from treadwright sit stacked in my garage. Since i heard nothing from treadwrght i then filled out a buyer-beware review on the treadwright.com website warning prospective purchasers of the danger of buying retread tires. This review was removed within five minutes and i was blocked from accessing the treadwright review portal.” and, it gets worse. From this site: https://www.Trustpilot.com/review/www.Treadwright.com "dishonest company have a complete failure in a tire and… i had a blow out at 60mph, terrible product and terrible service absolutely terrible tires and terrible service do not buy junk tires awful customer service installed at local gmc dealer, 3 of the 4 tires were borderline unbalanceable, 1 they showed me a huge high spot in the middle of the tire, tire technician said i can't install it balance this tire takes over 83 lbs of road force to balance, i called treadwright, new tire sent, went to same dealer, they installed it, said it was out of round like the other 3,but balanceable, 13 ounces of weight, tire blew out with in the first 5 days of having it installed and, from this website: http://www.Cumminsforum.com/forum/2nd-gen-tire-wheel/1464914-treadwright-tires-massive-failure.Html treadwright tires massive failure i had the same thing happen to my passenger side front with bridgestone at's on my '98.5.

When that tread separates it's like a guillotine. $3300 in damage in seconds. You should contact the nhtsa and your state representative for hwy safety if your state has one. All on highway tires must meet certain safety standards and all manufacturers do business under license. If a manufacturer does not take care of their customers and is selling defective products that may cause injury or death, they can lose their license. You can also attack their insurance and possibly their bond if they are required to have one in you state. I wouldn't just walk away, i would get reimbursed as quickly as possible.” i could go on and on, but it is clear treadwright tires is selling profoundly unsafe tires; their customer service does not exist; and they are violating the terms of their warrany. I had to replace the out of round tire with my old tire and my truck still unsafely bounces up and down on the road. I have reported this company to the bbb in houston, yscam.com, the consumer protection - texas state attorney, us department of transportation national highway traffic safety administration, and the u.S. Product safety commission.
