Tophatter, Inc. Reviews

I have been using Tophatter for several years, and I do have terrible results with some items I have purchased, but none so terrible I was angry. As time has gone by more and more items are complete garbage and the description is no where near what the item is you receive in the mail. This has become so bad that I was tempted to sign up as a seller, so I also could scam millions of dollars off people. But then I also thought that TOPHATTER would benifit off both me and the people that were being rip offed, and I gave up on that idea.

Helicopters that are clearl listed and pictured at 20 inches long and 8 inches high with a remote, so the item flys forward-back- left-right, and it does none of that at all. Its only 6 inches long nd go's up and falls back to the ground till it broke. THATS IT !! Would only interest a 2 year old child for about 2 minutes only.

31 piece cleaning brushs kit with attachments, description says that and so does item photos, but you get 3 stiff nylon brushes in a clear sandwish bag. 31 in China means 3, I suppose.

Stay away from TOPHATTER is my best suggestion.

My issue is with Tophatter.com which is a 'bidding website' and unfortunately I tried it out and was addicted immediately, and I spent more money than planned. I did bid for items and ordered many things. I never had to log in, as it took me right to my account.

After 5 weeks bidding I opened the app, and I was asked for my password, which I entered multiple times and I know it was the right one, but I had to click 'forgot password' and a link to reset password would be sent to my email yet it never comes, I tried this step many times in the last week with all disappointing results, I also searched everywhere for a way to contact them and did find one, [email protected] so I sent an email, stating my issues, and still no response. There is really something wrong with the company.

Now I am getting pretty scared as I am disabled and have to be housebound from the start of pandemic. Just a few days ago, I started a new account so I could email them 'contact us', there was just no other way to contact them. I did get a response right away, but all it was showing how to get info on the bidding site. I am really getting frustrated, scared and anxious, especially since I have many items I'm waiting to get status on as they are all paid for.

I purchased a tablet on auction. When it arrived it did not work. I contacted tophatter and they said to return it at my expenseI went to the post office and they said it would be $23.00 and that they could not provide a tracking number.

I contacted tophatter and requested a return label. I was returning the tablet to China.

I have been trying to contact top hatter to try and get my orders. I cannot get back on there web site to check. There were three months worth of orders that they just took the money and deleted the orders so I don't know exactly how much they have taken from me.

The last several orders have just not arrived and it's been at least two months.

TOP HATTER.This Auction site is a total rippoff. They shaw items that are being auctioned and when you receive them they are nothing like you bid for. The pictures of the items are taken from CATALOGS.They also say you can return items within 30 days of delevery but you can not get to their customer service line.thE GOVERNMENT AGENCY SHOULD LOOK IN TO THIS SITE AND CLOSE IT AND MAKE THE OWNERS PAY BACK EVERY ONE VICTIMIZED.

Ripped off of the seven items I did not receive. Ordered 10 and received 3. Now all I'm getting is for myself to runin circles

  • Apr 13, 2018

I bought several piece of jewlery from them and had them looked at when I took them to the jewlers. The jewler said you could get the same quality from a gum ball machine.

Also, bought smart watch first one came in and would not turn on, returned it and ordered another thinking that maybe I just got a bad one however the second one came in and doesn't work either.

Unfortunatley I bought a bunch of stuff now as it comes in I will need to return it I am sure

  • Mar 27, 2018

I participated in 3 seperate auctions. The items were never sent to me. It's been over 2 weeks and I haven't heard that they even shipped the items.

  • Mar 20, 2018

I purchased a dollar coin dated 1970 or 1979. When I looked on they back in tiny letters is "copy". So, I assume it is not worth anything.

This is a blatant distortion of honest internet sales. This company has been shut down several times because of shady and dishonest practices to the public. You get what you pay (auction) for, but the product they advertise and market (pictures are deceptive intentionally and they list a -Retail Price value that is nowhere close to the poor quality product that is delivered to you. It cost more to send items back so you write it off as being scammed by professionals with no sense of decency. I ordered and receive 13 of the 15 items and each item I received was a total distortion of the picture they market as the product. The items mostly from China, are so substandard and of poor quality that it is an insult and a play on the public that this company is still in business. I like so many seek to do business with people without a hidden agenda and to trust them with personal information is identity theft waiting to happen. I ask that if you have any ties to the Consumer Protection Agency, to use it to shut these scammers down and make them pay hefty fines for the fraud on consumers.

So many problems can't do it but by phone. I am terminal attorney , Judge Pro TEm Auther. Consumer advocate. These people double bill , promise doorstep deliver and don't ,off meaning less warranties and fake prices. There are tons of complaint pages about them.

The first two items I bid on and received were nice but from that moment on the items I received were not what I bid on or what was pictured and described. As a matter facct I was sent items that were not even close to the item i had phone number at any of their locations. I text the through their site :

Contact Customer Support and would receive a general generic response that had nothing to do with the issues I felt needed to

be addressed. I repeated texted them without any personal responses and If I did get a reply it would not be to help or resolve the issue but their promise of buyer protection, that if an item is returned and it was sent from overseas the return postage would have to be buyers responsibility, and perhaps, no guarantee that the postage would be included in the refund. It is not cheap to return packages to CHina, and they would onkly give a store credit. THey showed no interest in my complaints or their fraudulent activity as to the bidding and to the buying.

I complained and blogged them on my facebook account, the next day there was a charge of over 120.00 to Wolf Trading CO.

Utah. THis was a criminial act to defraud me of my money and to get financial gain. THIS COMPANY WOLF Etc. is affiliated with TOPHATTER, they either hacked into my account or which I seriously believe my account information with TOPHATTER was made available to WOLF TRADE CO. THEY ripped me off with their cheap knockoffs, not sending the actual item bid on, and the bidding description was different then the description on the order site after it was delivered. I did some research and CEO is a criminal by all standards and has been conning individuals out of their money using different company names, different locations and has no ethics, integrity or self worth. He has no shame.

THIS C OMPANY SHOULD BE BULLDOZZED BLOWN UP AND DEMOLISHED. WHAT EVER IT TAKES IT HAS THIEF WRITTEN ALL OVER IT.

  • Jan 17, 2018

They should be taken down from the internet as they are simply crooked thieves. obviously they steal peoples money so the authorities should be looking into this.

  • Jan 9, 2018

I have purchased a number of items, surprisingly good quality on most (STERLING ONLY on jewelry- chains, pendants, bracelets. Stainles steel watches, red dot scopes, bed sheets, opticals, somec electronics). Not good on other jewelry, misc. toys, alloy metal jewelry).

My orders were filled about 80% correctly, received several items I did not purchase, but was CHARGED. Their auctions have to be checked on each bid, not only does the price increase but many times the shipping does to. The crystal sphere on the fingers shown to be 3-1/2 to 4" in diameter, you actually get one about 1-1/4" diameter (Large marble), All the wrenches are shown as large sets, but you only get one (1) wrench, I gat a 12mm for both sets I ordered.

You CAN get some good stuff, but be very careful. On all the chronograph watches I ordered ( good for work) only the main dial works, none of three small ones. As we studied in school, exercise "LAZY FAIR" (let the buyer beware). Read closely, assume nothing and good luck.

Received smart watch (DZ09 BLUETOOTH SMART WATCH PHONE MATE GSM SIM FOR ANDROID IPHONE SAMSUNG HTC LG" and for pairing it stated it needs a SIM card. Went to local AT&T(my carrier) store and they placed a SIM card in it. They spent an hour trying to get it to work. They gave it it's own phone number attached to my smart phone number as is policy for AT&T. The representative stated, "I don't know what they sold you, but it is not a smart watch".

I have attached the AT&T store representatives findings along with their notes stating it is not a smart watch.

I first started as a buyer on TopHatter. It seemed after I had won a few great items, all I was shown in the auctions was complete junk. Most of it came from China in a poly bag and arrived damaged. I did get most of it refunded, but I had a problem with a particular seller that sent me the wrong item 4 different times. I reported this with Top Hatter support and they kept asking me for more documentation. I sent pictures and the order number so they had everything they needed. They kept asking for additional information until the 30 day window for refunds ran out.

I looked up the company information, and it seems that they have an office in China and are not what they claim to be at all. They are promoting cheap products and seem to favor Chinese suppliers. It also seems, though I can't prove it, that they let you win a few auctions for quality products and after that they only show complete junk on the auctions.

I decided to try selling some of my products on the site, and they took almost all of the sales in fees. There is absolutely no way to make money on this site as a seller. On almost $200 in sales they charged me fees of $160 leaving me with less than $40 in net revenue. I might as well give my products away.

I am so disgusted with this company and hope the SEC takes a look at their business practices. If there is any class action against them I will certainly participate.

Hi I joined tophatters and really enjoy trying win stuff. I have 4 orders that it keeps saying my debit card in not activate. I called the bank and have used this card in other places and Im only having trouble with you. 1 item is the elephant ring, fairy necklace, blue saphire necklace, ear rings and ring and the other is a bonsi tree.

The error is on your part.

This was almost a bait and switch scheme, but I got my money back. I bid on a specific 1881 S Morgan dollar and a silver clad bar. I won the bid for $8.

A week later I get a shipping envelope in the mail with a letter stating by coin is on back order. Server days later I get an email stating they have refunded my money through PayPal. The same day I get an email asking to rate the purchase of the coin and my satisfaction of the purchase. I clinked on the link and it disappeared so I could tell them about the scam they were running.

Tophatter is a bidding site that advertises their products up to 99%off. Some products are listed as hundreds to thousands of dollars in value.

I have stupidly purchased numerous items from this scam...silver/gold bars, supposidly old coins (reprints), jewelry (most junk that the bands change colors after wearing for awhile) and other stuff, like a blood pressure moniter supposidly valued over $1000 (could be purchased at Walmart for under $50).

I don't know where they get these deceptive prices from or why they are allowed to cheat people the way they do. I have spent a few hundred dollars on this worthless junk...in the hopes of making a profit with it. I am now stuck with this stuff that no-one wants (and neither do I).

It is a terrible thing what they are allowed to do. If possible, I would love to have all my money back. This sight is addictive and people think they are getting a great deal....just JUNK. I think that the public should be warned.

I know that there is a fool born every minute...but I hate to be one of them.

Received a dog collar instead of what I ordered Got a necklace I ordered, was in two pieces, no way to put it together,. Today I got a 3D visualize lamp. Don't even know what it's for. Don't know what they cheated me out of. ,

  • May 27, 2017

Tophatter defrauded me by listing the price of all gold bullion, coins, rounds, and bars in the left bottom corner of each item from $300.00 + to $1,000.00 to $1,500.00 + and in the left side claiming items start from 99% off. You can go to the site to see for your self. Since it is my first time in buying genuine real gold coins. A friend told me that all that "gold" is cheap metal coated, plated, or clad worth less than a dollar each! Also the jewelry is listed as the "gold" items; the value listed in the left side in access of $50.00 to $ 1,500.00 plus.

Do not order from this company!

They have no problem taking your money, then you wait months to get the products that you paid for. When you file a complaint, you get a generic response stating that the seller provided a tracking number, so no refund would be awarded.

My story is, I purchased several items and they came, I was happy with the orders, so I ordered some pricier items and they never came. The tracking number states "This tracking does not exist." I bring this to their attention and again, get the canned response that the seller provided a tracking number and they close my case... so, now two weeks later, I still have not received my orders and there are 5 of them. This company needs to shut down.

I joined Tophatter an auction site. I bidded on earplugs. I received them and tried to use them and they have a loud humming noice coming from them . This sound makes it impossible to use them for anything. They are of poor quality. I also bidded on a 24 inch sterling silver chain. It is dull and flimsy again not of good quality. The third item I haven't received yet. I have been given a tracking number but it is not a valid one. So I have no ideal of when it will arrive. I feel that this company is a fraud. They don’t deliver what they agree to send. They will not pay to ship the inferior items back. I paid to receive them, they should pay for their return. I want my money returned and for them to pay the return charges.

  • Mar 17, 2017

I ordered a pair of earphones from Tophatter. They supplied me with a tracking number that never changed or went anywhere. After a month I began emailing and asking them to do something about it. They never got back to me until one email I became very angry. I received one email telling me that they had sent me several and basically told me " tough s**t". However, that was the only email I ever received from them. They lied and don't have any sort of customer service at all. They don't list a phone number so I can't speak to anyone.

  • Mar 9, 2017

I bought a ring that was described as a 1/10ct genuine diamond 14k gold cluster ring.

It is not a diamond and it's not 14k gold.

Topphatter is an auction sight.

Although I only scammed out of $20.00 I feel it's necessary to report them.

I would not want someone else to loose money by being scammed

they dont want to make contact.

  • Dec 25, 2016

I bought a few things. Most was junk. At least 3 were incomplete...therefore unusable. EVERY single link they provided for returns or customer service takes you straight back to the live auction! I found a phone number. Got a recording...big surprise! They have NO customer service! Totally bogus organization! Do not order ANYTHING FROM THEM!

  • Dec 16, 2016

I purchased several "gold & silver" bars and coins by auction. When I received the "gold" bars they were gold clad and the silver dollars I thought I had purchased were copper. When I receive the items I immediately left a message with Tophatter customer service throught their web site. I did get a prompt response stating the seller would contact me within the next several days.

I have had no contact from the seller. In fact the seller continues to send me bars and coins. The purchase price for approximately five coins/bars was $424.00. I am waiting for a refund as it apparent the seller does not have any pure gold bars or coins.

I purchased items through tophatter and never received them. Filed complaint after complaint and never got any response except "Seller has 3 days to respond". Needless to say, I never heard anything back. I will never purchase through them again. The other items I did receive were cheap looking and not worth the money I spent. Some didn't even work. Be aware of these scammers.
