The Ford Plantation Reviews

  • Apr 26, 2018

My family purchased a lot and membership at The Ford Plantation in Richmond Hill Georgia. We chose the development because it was marketed as a sporting community much of which my family enjoyed. One of the amenities in the development was The Equestrian Center which included equine boarding, lesson program, trail riding and a professional equine staff .

We were introduced to the Equestrian Director by the Club Manger who presented herself as knowledgeable and professional. It was not long before she was contacting us to sign up for lessons, trail rides, etc. A few months later she suggested we consider buying her husbands horse that had been located within the barn for several months and featured on The Ford Plantation marketing video. She had also recently purchased three horses on behalf of The Ford Plantation trail riding program.

On another buying trip for Ford Plantation she offerd to also look for us an additional horse. She found one and had it transported to Ford.

Months later the same Club Manager called us into his office to review a website that included our horses for sale by the Equestrain Director without our knlowledge or consent. We were asked how we would like to handle the matter. She was terminated. The Club Manager failed to notify us that they were unable to verify the sales transaction of the three horses that were purchased on behalf of the Club.

The Equine Manger stole all the documentation on our horses including their passports and valuable tack and equipment. They also removed the receiver from our trailer. We relocated our horses and left as a resident of Ford. The development had exposed us to something that we could never imagine.

Over the next few months while trying to replace the documentation on our horses. (without it the horses value was greatly diminished) we would learn what and who we were exposed to by our assoication with The Ford Plantation. The Equine Director had a criminal record and had been incarcerated, had multiple alias, had used an employment history that was fake and employment addresses that did not exist. We would later learn the employee had not been vetted. That is not the worst of it. The horse we purchased located in Ford's barn was stolen from a farm in Tennesee when the owners were out of town. We also learned that the money we used to purchase the other horse actually purchased two.

With a few phone calls we were connected with a network of victims ranging from California to Florida. It represented the loss of 100's of thousand of dollars and elaborate schemes including bank fraud. We would learn of the great risk we had been exposed to not only finacially but personally. These individuals had a history of threatening behavior and arsenal of weapons in their possesion.

The next five years of our life would be entagled in an FBI investigation, avadavits, police reports, communication with victims, lawyers expense both nationally and internationally. Our entire way of life changed when we walked into The Ford Planation locked gates. Ford Plantion never made any effort to make it right with us. When we were forced to take legal action against them they assisted the Insurance Company lawyers in denying us justice. We had waited too long to file. I quess it was because we were involved in a nighmare for years directly related to our association with them.

They even sued us for late dues and had me served following cancer surgery.

This development has destroyed the lives of many. From widows to priests to the terminally ill, retired doctors and family members. Property values are are a fraction of the original cost. Millions have been lost.

I hope this provides an insite into our experience.
