I found this website Remanufactured.com while searching for a boat motor. So I call them spoke to Dean and told him what I was looking for in the engine. He happily says he can get that complete in approx. 30 days and then passed my call to Laura to complete the sale. It was strange they did not accept a credit card as a form of payment and wanted full payment up front. I wired the full amount anyway on June 3rd 2015 (almost $3500) to ensure I would have my engine in time to enjoy most of the summer. Well here it is Sept 15 2015 no motor! Horrible customer service, several emails week after week month after month, forget trying to actually talk to them. According to Laura the engine has been scheduled to ship since July 6th, every email after that is filled excuses as to why it's going to be another 5-7 days or another 10 days. Whether they are under staffed, waiting for parts or backed up on orders, it's always something. I have requested a refund several times, Laura says they will not cancel or refund my order. Absolutely unbelievable how these people are even still in business, taking hard earned money from people.

After purchasing one of the most expensive 57 buick roadmaster 75 available i thought i was safe on having a reliable car, the motor had blow back, from everywhere so i ordered a complete long block from Laura and paid n full, just under $3000 US but paid over $4000 AU, i have had countless emails promising completed engine dates with no motor or concrete delivery dates, it has been over 3 months and i still keep getting emails stating 14 - 24 days for delivery. i have read sooo many other reports with the same complaint, they advertise as one of the most professional companies around (40 years exsperience etc)what to do? one complant stated it was too expensive to take them to court, its not, its very simple and inexpensive, you just use legal aid and (i will complete that story pending my case)whats the american system doing for this type of customer service ? there must be a protective consumer organisation for all types of retailers & customers ?????

Good Luck

These people are pros at what they are doing, and I'm not talking about engine rebuilding. It seems they have years long history of taking people's money and engine core, and then giving nothing but excuses until we just give up. People need to start filing with the Indiana State Attorney General's office and filing theft and fraud charges with their local police departments. It's the only way to get this to stop. All Laura is going to do is give the same scripted excuses she has given other over the years. She knows full well no one in that tin shed is going to work on anything other than a scam.

To help anyone who is a victim of their fraud and theft, their verified physical address is:

Dean Winters

David Schaffner

3817 Garfield St.

Gary, IN 46408

File Charges

The only way you will get them to do anything is to:

*contact your local PD and file theft and fraud charges

*contact the Indiana State Atty General's office and file a complaint

Laura will lie to them, tell them they are closing shop, threaten bankruptcy and then give a jillion excuses. You have to remain diligent. Several of us have managed to get our $ and/or cores back but it took a lot of time and continued pushing law enforcement to take action.

On june 10 2015 i recieved an email from Laura that they had received my core. She stated that i would be sent an email when my $500.00 dollar core refund was sent (usually about 30 days.) After 60 days her excuse was that due to high volume and a lack of personnel it was taking longer and apoligized. It has now been 3 months and cannot get them to answer phone or emails.

The company rebuilt the engine and did not assemble it correctly. The rear main seal was plastic goop and failed immediatly. In taking the engine down, found the rods were not installed correctly and showed excessive play wear, and the toruqes were not right causing bearing wear. They would not return my calls or answer any emails. Bet Dean and Laura have moved on to other company names, so be aware if you do business with an engine rebuilder located in Gary IN.

Professional Con Artists

Laura and Dean have been at this game for so long they are seasoned pros. You may get Dean on the phone at first, but that's only for him to talk you into sending him payment in full, up front. Once the check is cashed, it's all over. Laura will then email lie after lie. I wonder how many times her mother has died by now. She has used that excuse several times. If you really want results, you will need to file criminal charges in your home jurisdiction and have them served in Indiana. The Gary Indiana PD is well aware of their antics and will assist. The minute you realize you've been had, you have to go after them. Don't believe the lies Laura is going to tell you. She's good at it, very good. You can expect her to act like they are a legit and trustworthy business who suddenly, for the very first time, has hit hard times. It's all part of the game. I don't know of any engines they've actually rebuilt for anyone. They are great at taking your money. But once the check clears, all you are going to get are lies, lies, and more lies. Laura will pretend to be insulted that you would even think they would steal your money. You can believe it and she'll keep it too if you don't aggressively go after them. Google their physical address - 3817 Garfield St., Gary, IN 46408. It's a tin shed on a dead end street in a pretty run down area of Gary. Act fast before they have time to sell your engine core for scrap. These people are thieves working under the guise of a legitimate business.

Scammers

Laura and Dean have been at this for years. Yes, literally years. They give the same scripted excuses over and over, blaming their inability to deliver what was paid for on: an aging staff, heavy volume, understaffed at the moment, the list goes on and on. To date, they have never been fined, not been arrested, nor have I seen where anyone has successfully sued them. When the heat gets too high in one location, they just regroup in another and continue ripping people off. Has anyone ever received what they paid for? Has anyone ever been able to get their money back?

  • May 20, 2016

Attorney

There is an attorney in Indiana who has successfully sued them. His contact info:

Lee Gunter

Law Offices of Lee Gunter

58 N. Chicago St.

Suite 303

Joliet, Illinois 60432

(815) 726-8916

You have to stay on top of this to get your $ back. File criminal charges with your local PD and file a complaint with the Indiana State Attorney General. It takes a while, but you will get your $ back if you hound them enough. Expect Laura to act all shocked that you took action. She will pretend you are the first person to do this. Remember, they are scammers and are pros at what they do - and I'm not talking about engine rebuilding.

SCAM

I purchased a motor from them as well - the item came - ran for 30 mins and blew up. I called - they gave me the story of warranty not being processed properly, etc. They took over a year to send back the refund for the core - $500.00 . I took the motor to a local shop (should have done that the first time) and it was a mess - wrong head, wrong bearings, broken cam gear, - total steaming pile of garbage. Laura is a liar. These people should be put in jail for the theft and deceit. the address by the way

10769 Broadway Unit 309

that is a UPS store in crown point not even where they do business. Total SCAM.
