I answered a craigslist ad for a job at a company called TJ Investors LLC. I was then conned by Tess Torres who is also known as Marites Torres. She lives in Tampa but she is from Philippines. I met Tess Torres at an IHOP and she seemed very nice. She said she was building a medical diagnostic company from the ground up and was going to be hiring lab personnel and med-techs. She asked me for $250 for a pre-employment background check. I gave her $125 in cash which is all I had at the moment and then I met her the next day at a strip mall in South Macdill and gave her the rest. That was a month ago and yesterday she finally contacted me to tell me that I didn't get the job because there were other candidates more qualified than me. She also told me the fee I paid was non-refundable.
My husband researched her name online and found a number of fraud reports. We are going to file a police report. I have no address for her and the phone she gave me was a burner that has since been disconnected.
I would be very grateful if anyone could help me recoup the money she robbed me of or at least give us more information about Tess Torres.
