We called Tannen to fix our Fujitsu AC/Heating unit and wound up paying over $1,000 for less than two hours of labor. When we called, we were assured that the technician could diagnose the issue in 30 minutes, which he did. Despite this, we were billed for one hour of labor. When I called and asked the office why, I was told the technician needed to check the unit's serial numbers. When I told the office that I had already provided them the serial numbers the day before, they became agitated and said that the additional time was to compensate them for the time they would have to spend on the phone with Fujitsu. We were charged $244 for the 30 minute diagnosis.

When the technician arrived to replace the unit, we were given a quote of $750 and were assured that this would be a major job that would require four to five hours of labor. The technician completed the job in under 90 minutes. Despite this, we were still charged the full $750 plus tax for a total of $841. When we told the technician the quote was based on the job taking half a day, not 90 minutes, he once again told us that the additional time was for the phone calls the office had with Fujitsu. We tried calling Tannen to resolve the issue, but once they were paid, they stopped taking or returning our calls.

These are obviously deceptive businesses practices that no business should employ. If Tannen is going to charge us for making phone calls, they should have disclosed that to us in the initial phone call. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Tannen!
