See the prior report on this company. I gave you the # above from Google. I ordered a nice knife " free " and paid $10 I think, for delivery. OK. A month later now I get a debit of $57 for a course I have " enrolled " in.... and it is a recurring one according to the Company. I called their offices and got "Meghan " on the line and told her I never intended to register for a course; the knife was all I wanted and if they wanted it back they could have it.

She said she was reversing the charge and cancelling the ongoing $57 recurring charges (!!!) and my case # there is 31119553. It remains to be seen whether I actually get the money back and they don't try to charge me more each month !!!!! Exact same ripoff the one I see reported in Google.

Gave you the #. While she was perfectly nice on the phone, I am now down $57 on the eve of leaving town to go out of the country and will not be able to access my info readily. Will keep in touch.Hopefully by the time I get back I will have the money back and the ongoing charges cancelled. We live in hopes.

Free Knife with coverage of S&H - fine. I LOOKED for info about anything "ongoing" or a subscription - nothing.

MY FAULT, because I was not actively monitoring CC Statement, but these yahoos have been billing me $57 per month for 9 months. They DID call back, and I cancelled - and the did refund the last three monthly charges - which I appreciate - but they should make it CLEAR that you are signing up for something ongoing. And they don't - it is REALLY a shady practice. Just sayin'....

I keep getting eMails from SOS Self Defense Tools Via Safe Opt, Moore Ammo and Tactical Tom and maybe a couple of others, Advertising either a Free Steel River Colossal Knife or the Steel River Kurki Machete for just the Shipping and Handling Fee. After clicking on the part of the advertisers Key Line it takes you to the SOS Website. I filled in my Personal Mailing Information, Credit Card Information andClick on Complete Order. The order will not complete and I get the following Message:

Sorry, it looks like you've already taken advantage of this offer.. Don't worry, we're redirecting you to our websites best selling products for up to 80% off!

Or this Message:

Hey, It looks like you have already taken advantage of this great, 1 time offer. But I have another one for you that I think you are really going to love! Thanks for being a loyal SoS Self-Defense Tools Customer!

They then show you the same products at $30.00 or $35.00 billed in 5 equal individual charges on one's credit card.

This is total BS. Apparently they only allow you one free Item per household. But they do not have a Rider in the ads through the other Web Sites that direct you to the SOS Web Site. They should honor the Free Item Advertised for just Shipping and Handling Charge.

I HAVE CHARGES ON MY VISA DURING APRIL AND MAY WHICH I DIDNOT AUTHORIZE NOR DID I RECEIVE ANY PRODUCT OR SERVICE. I WANT THOSE CHARGES CREDITED BACK TO MY VISA NOW!

I purchased a knife for $14.90 on 6 Sept 2020 using a credit card. The company alleges the fine print of the order form stated a $57.00 charge would be made to my credit card on or aboutb the 20th of every month starting 20 Sept 2020. They have made seven charges to my card now through March 2021. When I called them they agreed to stop any future charges and agreed to refund the February and March 2021 charges. But they refused to refund the five charges for Sept 2020 through Jan 2021. I would like those monies ($285.00) refunded due to their deceptive practices.

SOS Scam or Screw

Like everyone else I just wanted to purchase a knife, but did not read the fine print if in fact there was any, next month had a charge for $57.00, have contacted the better business bureau and my bank to stop all charges from this obvious ripoff organization

  • Mar 19, 2020

Ordered a free knife. Charged $9.95 for postage and handling. Then charged $57 twice. On 2/16/30 and 3/17/20

Same as other report from March listed on this site (Repetitive, unauthorized withdrawals monthly of $57.00) : SOS Self Defense Tools Canton OH see Report: #1474328 Canton, Ohio United States Appears on Bank Statement as: sos / self defense t httpssosselfdohus $57,00 Same as other report from March listed on this site (Repetitive, unauthorized withdrawals monthly of $57.00) : OHsee Report: #1474328, United StatesAppears on Bank Statement as: sos / self defense t httpssosselfdohus $57,00

I agreed to "pay shipping for a free product" online from the Self Defense Network and was inundated with additional free offers (also pay for shipping only) which I continued to say no thanks. Then I started noticing a $57.00 monthly charge to my bank account. I'm now (months later) learning this is a subscription which I have never knowingly agreed to nor used.

I kept getting emails from SOS, but thought they were normal junk advertisement which I unsubscribed to. They have ripped me of for hundreds of Dollars, which as a VA Rated 100% Permanent and Total Disabled Veteran also VA classified SMC-S1 for greater than 60+% more, on SSA Disability at 58 and Medicare at 60 I can hardly afford (since I'm forbidden from working and live on my Compensation and Retirement).

I need Federal Investigation and Intervention to recover my lost 100s of Dollars. The bank won't stop the withdrawal unless I call the company first and I don't have the number. The previous complaintant on the report number listed said he talked to a Meghan and she was refunding his money in March (don't know that it ever happened! Someone please help! I should have been smarter with my degrees!

These guys are getting your name from email lists, so no double opt-in and sending a fake offer:

https://sosselfdefensetools.com/checkout/df-mp-solar-power-pack-charger-and-lantern/?lp=OTAxNg==&click_id=102c38d0af68ee774f2f89388570b6&AFID=Modaramo&SID=&utm_source=Modaramo&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=Cont&prospect_id=

After collecting your information and credit card they then tell you that you've already taken advantage of that offer, FALSE, and redirect you to another one that you have to pay more money for.

https://steelrivercompany.com/apps/secure-checkout/hn14EdNGAbs6fXDoJsWM?discount=EM60

This is a classic bait and switch.

The company, when emailed, comes up with this nonsense

----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, Thank you for reaching out to us today and we’re sorry for the inconvenience. Part of what allows us to provide special offers is the agreements that we have with our payment processors. These allow us to reduce our costs and we pass those on to you. Unfortunately those processors reduce the types of transactions that they allow through and we have no control over that. This is not a reflection on you, just the way their automated system works.

We have a sister company that sells many of the same products that we carry but in a one-time offering instead of the multiple smaller payments. Just go to https://steelrivercompany.com/ and use code OUTDOORS30 at checkout and it will take 30% off your entire order value bringing the price in line with this offer.

We’re sorry again for the inconvenience.

Jason ----------------------------------------------------------- When informed that their switch isn't close to the original offer, they tell you that the system randomly rejects cards based on nothing. When I told them I tried with three separate cards, from three separate family members with three separate addresses and it couldn't be a coincidence using different IP addresses and computers that ALL got rejected, the customer service person just laughed. "Haha no, but regardless you won't be able to complete any orders for any offers." True, I won't be able to complete any of the orders for any offers becaue those offers DO NOT EXIST. Bait and Switch is an illegal marketing scheme. They should be, and have been, reported to local groups in their area that deal with consumer protection. Scammers
