Shopgoodwill.com needs to be shut down by the US Attorney General! I have been shopping on the internet for over 20 years now and have never seen anything like I have until now and this is the blatant excessive shipping charges that shopgoodwill.com charges, it's to the point where they fraudulent and something needs to be done about it by the government. This week I was bidding on a vacuum cleaner on their site, under the shipping estimate button it said the actual weight of the product is 23.2 pounds the shipping weight is 63, that is almost triple the weight of that item greatly adding to the shipping cost of that item! When you question them about the shipping cost or about the weights they have listed, they just close the inquiry and they just freeze you from bidding on anything else on the site or they just close your account! They don't send you anything about what did or anything! It's not all the store locations that do this, but the biggest abuser of the shipping charge fraud I have seen so far is the Columbia Willemette store, I have seen them quadruple shipping weights where it will add anywhere from 5 to 50 dollar or more to the shipping cost and they are just pocketing the money at the cost of the customer, WHICH IS FRAUD! AND THEY NEED TO BE STOPPED AND STOPPED NOW! All this is doing is hurting Goodwill reputation and all the good they do! There seems to be no oversite by anyone at the national, state or local levels of government at all! Just because Shopgoodwill.

com is a non-profit organization doesn't give them carte blanche to rip off there customers and feel they are exempt from the law! Shame on you Goodwill!

You may be aware of the shipping scams that shopgoodwill.com has people in an uproar over. Shopgoodwill.com must be aware of the anger that there gross overcharging on shipping is causing beccause they now say that people can combine shipping of multiple items if the items weigh less than 20 pounds in total. This makes sense because peope buy many more additional items which in most cases they wouldn't buy.

It's sad and a shame when the name "Goodwill" has become something entirely else.

They keep using their remarkable powers of esp to be able to predict what my "hidden"" top bids were, just so they could swoop in 10 seconds before timing out, and bid exactly one dollar above my high bid. This they are able to do, even though I purposely use cents in my bids. HOW do they know that I bid 10.02 or 10.66?? How did they know I suddenly jumped my bid by 25.00 instead of a dollar or two? How do they know my hidden high bids??? Seriously I am so angry right now. It even seems to me that they may have items tagged on a program or something, in order to steal the win when they don't like the winning bid. That's how they KNOW my bids. That's why it's always one increment above the high bid. I think if a person was doing it, they wouldn't be so bloody obvious ie. A person probably wouldn't bother with the pennies, they could bid anything, scince it doesn't matter. If the bidding had an option that let you simply go up an increment by pushing a button it would be different, but you have to type in your bid. But even that doesn't make sense, because I jumped a 50 dollar bid up by 25, and guess what the winning bid Wes? You would be right to guess 76. This is blatant thievery and fraud. I don't know the laws concerning auctions, but what is happening here is atrocious.AND OBVIOUS!!!! I've taken pix of my screenshot of the bidding histories. Don't know what to do with them, but I have them. I'm going to try to mess with them ,but I doubt I can win an auction against a computer program. This HAS to be what they are doing. Not to diminish all the other things that really bother me about them, this has me pissed,!!!!where to go with this?

I won an auction for an item that weighed 3.49 lbs. with dimensions of 10"x10"x9". The price break down is as follows:

Total Products $8.00

Shipping $23.07

Handling $4.00

Total (before tax) $35.07

Tax $0.00

Additional Donation $0.00

Grand Total (USD) $35.0

There is no way the shipping cost from Portland to Texas usuing FedEx Ground services as is stated that they use, is $23.07. Atatch a $4 fee to that.

- On the Goodwill website under the HELP link there is even a section about the discrepancy in weight vs. shipping cost. Even with that explanation, after speaking with FedEX and reviewing their surcharge chart, Goodwill's shipping charge is beyond excessive.

- On the Goodwill seller shipping info area, it states;

"-Shipping via FedEx:
All items will ship via FedEx. FedEx shipping charges are calculated using the dimensional weight (volume) or the actual weight of the shipped package - whichever weight is higher.

-The listed weight of this item(s) may reflect the dimensional shipping charge for the final package, and not the actual weight of the item(s)."

Basically, stating the SIZE OF THE BOX VS WEIGHT OF THE BOX is how the shipping is calculated and the higher of the two costs will be chosen.

- On FedEx.com’s -Additional Handling Surcharges for Ground Shipping it states the following for DIMENSIONS:

1) measures greater than 60 inches along its longest side for FedEx Express or measures greater than 48 inches along its longest side for FedEx Ground;

2) measures greater than 30 inches along its second-longest side for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground;

So, if dimension is what is being used, how could a package that measures 10”x10”x9” even come close to the above specifications for surcharge(s) ($14)? A cube sized box does not equate to Oversized. The Total Dimentionsal Weight is 7 lbs. Again, it does not add up.

I recall reading in rebuttal they are not required to claim shipping since it is not income. Awesome. Until there is complete transparancy as to how this organization, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) actually balances out the shipping costs they charge, they will continue to lose customers in droves. Form 990 does not offer enough detail and a true audit is needed.

Response To My Complaint About Bidder Using Sniping Tools To Outbid Me Within 3 Seconds. Silly Me - I Thought Sniping Was Not Allowed on Shopgoodwill.com. According To "Matt" Sniping On Shopgoodwill Is NOT PROHIBITED "everyone has the ability to use an application to aid win winning bids if they choose". Is This Fair?

I recently bought 2 Barbie Dolls from this Co. and they are robbing Consumers with the shipping fees. They are charging me with 20 pounds worth of Barbie Dolls when they only weigh 1 pound per doll, iff that. They constantly do this to my Mother and she repeatedly has to contact them and let them know this is not OK. She is on a fixed income and can ill afford to pay these EXORBANENT FEES. ALL THEY CAN SAY IS FEDEX MAKES THE PRICES, I SAY BUNK BECAUSE I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT YOU TELL FEDSEX WHAT THE WEIGHT OF YOUR SHIPPING IS AND THEY CALCULATE BASED ON WHAT YOU ENTER.

MY FINAL REMARKS ARE THIS:

DO NOT GO TO SHOPGOODWILL.COM OR YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF BY THIS SO CALLED NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SUPPORTING THE DISABLED AND IN OUR CASE, IT IS QUITE THE OPPOSITE. MOM IS OLD AND DISABLED AND THEY HAVE BEEN TRYING TO ROB HER BLIND. GOOD WILL ON LINE IS NOTHING MORE THAT A FAKE COMPANY RUNNING AN AUCTION AND MAKING MONEY THROUGH SHIPPING COSTS WITH UNSUSPECTING CUSTOMERS. THIS HAS REALLY MADE ME SO ANGRY AND I HOPE THAT ANYONE WHO READS THIS PASSES IT ON.

Start watching what they are charging you to ship you the items you buy. Call them on it every single time, then report them because as a none profit. they will loose their status due to stealing from unsuspacting customers.

It's time to stand up and fight for these poor Disabled folks who are getting their Money based on the theft in shipping fees from a none profit.

I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this problem from Shop Goodwill. In the past two years I've been the winning bid, for a good price, on items that I never received. They give me a refund, but that's not what I want. Their excuse is always we lost it, we've already sold it, it's not here,. I just had it happen in the past 2 months again. I was the winner on a painting and a Brahmin purse. One was lost, the other sold by a different store (?!). I honestly think that some Shop Goodwills, not all of them, are given the instructions that if the painting, purse, Etc doesn't reach a certain price They say that it's lost. And I believe they auction it again. I know they have stores on eBay. I know it sounds crazy, but it's happened to many times for it just to be coincidence. I'm honestly thinking about going to the Better Business Bureau about this. Why sit And bid on something, think you won it and get a notice that it's been lost. Has anyone else had this problem?

The clarinet I purchased was not as described because only one of the sections, the barrel, was stamped " "Pruefer". The bell had a different makers stamp and the two middle keyed sections had no markings on them whatsoever. This was obviously not a genuine G. Pruefer clarinet, as I was led to believe by the listing.

This listing was definitely misleading, and not the way to be treated as a trusting customer. I would expect the person who listed this incorrectly be advised not to mislead as a result of lacking information. I also expect there would be some customer satisfaction in the form of a refund for this purchase I was mislead to believe in as truthful.

Tried to bid on item 40 seconds before auction end (at TWICE the winning bid!). "Place Bid" pop up was foggy and would not accept my click. THE AUCTION WAS STILL ACTIVE. I called the seller (Goodwill Industries of Akron, OH) and talked to the online sales person. She told me to file a support ticket she would forward to the SGW techies in California. NO RESPONSE. I filed a request for instructions to lodge a formal complaint. NO RESPONSE. This tells me the techies are involved in rigging bids. Over the years I have spent well over $1,000.00 with them. They won't root out the thieves in their organization & provide no protocol for customers to complain. They stole my $307.77 bid https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/45554153

Often, the things I have bid on on the Shopgoodwill.com site get outbid, well past the market value. I don't know if it is shill bidding (as I am now reading elsewhere on this report), but it is odd.

The other day I actually won an item that was a really great deal. For once, the item didn't get bid up. A $150 - $300 item for only $20! Specifically it was a Tektronix Type 514 D Cathode-Ray Oscilloscope. I was so excited. Promptly paid for it, confirmed with customer service where it would be. What is not disclosed in the "pick-up" details is that pickups are only between 10-4 Tuesday through Friday. As I have a job, a family member drove the 50 minutes to the Tacoma store during their incredibly inconveinient and undisclosed hours. When she got there- they allegedly COULDN'T FIND THE ITEM. This is a SIXTY POUND ITEM. It is huge.

It could not possibly have gotten lost.

My family member called, distraught that they couldn't find it. I checked online and discovered that this is a regular occurance. Did you get a good deal? Chances are, they "can't find it" when you get to the store. I told her to ask for a refund which they gave.

I guess I will be watching to see if they relist it. Or maybe an employee took it home. Either way, VERY VERY SHADY. Shame on you Shopgoodwill Tacoma. I will never be buying from you again.

I would strongly recommend avoiding shopgoodwill.com. There are very clearly some very alarming practices going on.

We need legal advise! All of us shopgoodwill.com victims! Why don't they have to play by the rules? Are there rules?

So....let me add to the rediculous shenanigins that shopgoodwill.com is up to. Now they are pulling off auctions for items that bidders have already bid on. As an exapple, There were two watches that we bid on that started at $9.99 and one hour befor the auction was to end when the bidding was well over $500 or more, the item was pulled and the auction just showed that it had 17 bids and sold for $9.99! What? So we asked them where the auction went and why it ended when we were still in the heat of the bidding? They replied that they pulled the item. That's it. End of story.

Then, to add to the misery. I won an auction for a designer RADO watch for over $200. The listing clearly said it was a RADO and the photos ahowed close ups of the face and back. I'm not a watch expert but I know these watches can sell for alot more so I had a bidding frenzy with 27 total bids placed but I win the auction.

When it arrived the clasp on the band was broken so I spent a few weeks trying to find a band that would fit and when there was nothing like it I decided to open up to see if there was someting fishy about it. Sure enough. It was a cheap quartz watch movement. A total counterfeit!

So naturally I contacted them and told them it was a counterfiet and I wanted to return it for a refund.

They sent me a return shipping label and I sent it back. They sent it back to me loose in a huge prriority mail envelope with a note scribbled on the reciept and auction information that I sent them. They simply said: "Cannot accept return. has been over two months since purchace and ship date." Sooo why did you send me a return label? And isn't it a crime to sell counterfeit merchandise? Is IT? Does somebody know if they are allowed to sell fake merchandise? Don't they have to give my money back? $200 is alot of money.

Add to this the crazy padded shipping charges and the ever increasing handling charges.

Can't we start a lawsuit to make them play fair????? Who else got burned?? Let's discuss our options.

Any lawers out there who have some answeres for us?

The pool of victims is growing!

So we all know how shopgoodwill is greedy with their fees. For the people who dont know... you want to buy something thats 14 bucks? Hell yeah you do right? Until the total is 31 and ur wondering why the fees are more than the entire bid. Theres a shipping fee, a handing fee, and a tax fee thats really high. Yes you would think a handling fee and a shipping fee are the same exact thing because they are but not to goodwill. Thats the first time shopgoodwill rubbed me wrong. But lately ive been noticing strange bidding patterns on there. Just today there were two used monitors being sold separate at the exact same price. Its weird cause one is clearly better. Its also weird that two different people on both of those bids raised it up like $10 a couple hours before it ends. I would understand doing that in the last minute, but hours to go? Theyve only bidded once on this? How is this not bid rigging from a major company. I havent really looked on some of the more expensive things but Im sure they do it too. They sell things that are worth 1000's for only like 200 bucks... Until that last day hits then boom price shoots up so high its not even worth. Anyone have any thoughts to shopgoodwill and their sketchy online auction?

  • Jul 19, 2020

I have spent thousands on items from these sites and finally confirmed my suspicions that many of the auctions are rigged and they gauge the customers with their "handling and shipping fees". I was watching an auction the other day, it ended on july 16, 2020, for a dior purse. I was going to bid on it. There were 12 bids on the purse. All of a sudden the auction ended and it now says there were o bids!!!! this is a lie as i was watching and planning on bidding. Also, they charge 3.00 and 4.00 handling fees and the shipping is way out there. Also, if you send emails asking questions, many times they don't answer you. I sent three email to the pa store and never got a reply. The southern, ca store is the one that took off the dior bag and said there were no bids... The workers are rude and lazy. They expect you to spend a large sum of our hard earned money but don't ask for clear pictures and better descriptions because many times you won't get them. I am told, oh, we put it in a box and can't take it out now. Well you say you are saying a real dior bag yet you don't take pictures of the inside or give a detailed description of the item...Buyer beware,,,

I know that they shill bid for sure, threres no other explanition for what happened. They dont even try to hide it. I was on the shopgoodwill website looking at some auctions. I like to collect watches and saw a couple I was interested in. It had started a day or so before this date.

There were 0 bids on this listing so I decided to bid on it. I was the first bidder and I bid the starting amount and wouldnt you know, I was outbid immediately after I placed my bid, which again was the first and only bid. The chances of someone bidding 1 second after me to outbid me by $1 is obsurd.

I call B.S. Its not going to happen. I emailed good will to call them on it and no response. They responded to other questions and sent me invoices for things I had one but not to my question of how this happened. I urge a rep from Goodwill to please explain this for me and everyone else your

I recently bought a computer at auction from shopgoodwill.com. The conputer was an older Asus that had been donated and was listed as including a 120 GB SSD which considerably drove the price up for the item. When it arrived there was no SSD included. I notified customer support at [email protected] and recieved an email reply saying that my complait had been recieved and forwarded to the selling location (I noticed the agent had it classified as low priority, you would think that retail fruad would rate a little higher but there it is). I waited a week and didn't hear anything back so called the selling location directly Goodwill of Silicon valley in San Jose and spoke to a man who sounded young who took my report and phone number and assured me he would have his manager call me which to date hasn't happened either

In my experience, shopgoodwill doesn't take misrepresentation of their merchandice to be a serious issue as is show by my report being given a priority of "low". When you contact the selling location that misrepresented their merchandice directly they ignore you and expect you to just go away.

I don't know if this is something I should add and if it's not a moderator should feel free to remove the next part.

I also noticed that items that were not being bidded on for the first 6 days of an auction would be bid up greatly 4-8 hour before the end of the auction, this is very common and really gives the impression that people working for good will are artificially raising the prices. If an item is listed for $30.00 an actuall bidder would wait until the last minute to try and get the best deal he could not double the price to $60.00 many hours before the ending, add to that that many of these items are relisted soon after. While some may be actuall bidders defaulting on payment, it seems to happen often enough that that is unlikely to be the only cause.

Believe me I'm not happy to report a organisation that helps the disadvantaged but people need to be made aware of such bad bussiness practices even if done by an otherwise laudable organisation.
