A very well-spoken SFE salesman came to my door and PROMISED me 3 things: 1. One price for for my natural gas supply 2. No more tiered pricing 3. The same monthly price for my natural gas supply during the entire agreement (3 years) Pacific Gas and Electric provides our gas and electric service. He asked to see a recent PGE gas utility bill so I could realize the savings. He spent time going over my "guaranteed" savings and basically caught me hook, line and sinker. I signed up for the program and they get a person on the phone who speaks with me and asks if the salesman let me know about A, B & C, which he had. BUT there was one VERY important factor that I was not made aware of. PG&E would still bill me for "Delivery" of the gas. You have 30 days to opt out. I had not received a PGE bill showing any line items from SFE for gas for 2 months so no reason to opt out. When I did call asking about that, they said I should notice the savings on my billing on the next cycle. When I finally took a good look at a subsequent PG&E bill, I saw that I was getting billed for gas from both SFE and PG&E on the same bill. Furthermore the PG& E "delivery" charges were Tiered pricing, something else that was also not supposed to be occurring. I called SFE and was on hold for 20 minutes and they hung up on me. I called back and was on hold for 15 minutes and this time got through. I spoke to the gal on the other end of the line and she said that I was getting everything they promised. I said I can understand the billing for the SFE line item, but not the additional tiered billing from PG&E. She said, "Oh, that is for delivery charges.". I explained to her what the salesman had promised me and she said, "oh maybe he didn't explain it all to you - I will let management know. I can offer you a $5 per month discount for going "green" , BUT your 3-year contract will need to start all over." I told her that I was getting double-billed for gas and why would anyone sign up for that? She said it would cost me $278 to cancel the 3yr contract if I wanted to do that. She said she was sorry she couldn't help but would have management call me. That was that. Today (following day) I called PG&E to find out if there was anything I could do. They told me I could cancel the contract and provide PG&E with a confirmation number and said I should speak with a manager. So I called SFE back. Another long wait on hold and asked to speak to a manager. I waited again, for a long time and the same SFE employee came back on the line saying his manager was on the phone and he would ask the manager to call me back. I said when? He said he didn't know. I said today? Tomorrow? next year? Next month? Next Week? Come on! He said not next year or next month. I said really? He said this week. I told him I was calling to cancel the contract today and he said he could not help with that. I asked how the girl yesterday through out the idea of cancelling the contract for like $278 dollars. If she could cancel the contract, why couldn't he? Then he said, because I could not afford it. I told him the only thing I could not afford was to continue paying double for my gas! He said "So you want to pay right now to cancel?" I told him yes. Then I was put on hold again to get to the departments that handles payments. I paid with a CC and got the confirmation # and called PGE to give it to them and the gal at PGE said this company has been a huge problem for many PGE customers that tried SFE. She said they also sell all of your ID that they have - Name, House address and phone numbers to other gas providers and for the next year I will continue to get lots of calls and door-to-door salesman. If one person reads this and it helps, it's worth the time to report it. It is a Legal scam unfortunately from what I understand. They are supposed to provide you with all of the info upfront, but they don't. Why I bought from a door-to-door salesman, I will never know, but it won't happen again.

Three of them showed up at my door with matching shirts that said SFE ENERGY INC. they proceeded to tell me about the courts ruling that PGE was monopolizing gas and they were there to help, by signing up they would be procurring our gas and the cost would never be over $29.99, PGE was still delivering the gas because it was their lines, but they were working with PGE be cause of the ruling, all lies, my cost is now $36.56 a month, plus my regular gas bill.

So I called them to cancel and was asked why and I told them, but she came back with how they were giving me a lower rate, and by cancelling it would cost me more, I said I don't care I want it cancelled, she then told me that there was a three year contract and it had two years and two months to go, and I would have to pay a $202.00 cancellation fee. I don't remember this being told to me but they were three of them going back and forth, on the phone showing rates etc.

I feel like a dupe, I'm 60 years old and disabled, I should have known better, so I either give them $36.56 a month for now, or give the $202.00 to cancel, which I can't afford, Don't fall for it. I called PGE and they said they had nothing to do with it and I would have to deal with them.

Sales person did not explain that I would still incur fees from PG&E for gas delivery. Told me my bill would not exceed $30 due to the program I was signing up for. That it would be used to supplement utility savings program I am already enrolled in. Said that my bill would not be $30 every month. My current bill is $11 for gas, and I am on tier 1 with Care credit, told me rates would be going to tier 2 soon for my apartment complex, but didn't know exactly when. Also stated that the reward points could be used for statement credit. Took a better look at contract after signing, states that the rate is $29.99/ mo for 3 yrs, cancellation fees will incur after 30 days, $50 rewards can be used for dining and shopping. The rewards are not points or dollars more like rebates, coupons you can use on selected stores if you already planned on shopping there, most require a purchase to use. Signed contract 7/24/2018 5:15pm, ate dinner read over contract, called customer service, closed, website states 9am to 9pm PST. They provide a notice of cancellation that doesn't include a fax number. I will be calling in 7/25/2018 to cancel and get the fax number, and probably mail in the paper just to be sure. If everything the sales person said were true I would be saving.

Sfe energy representatives basically demand to view your pge bill and assure you that you will not be charged. Then they scare you wth scenarios of what will happen to you if you don't follow through with their company. They tell you that it'll be just a few dollars a month when in fact I've been paying $35/month! now they want extreme liquidation fees of $200! They train their employees to be pushy and it's not right. A second representative came to my door at 8:30 p.m. and demanded to see my pge bill while he was on the phone with someone. Than he told me that since I'm a California resident that there would be no fees at all, at which point I said I'm not doing this again.

Came to my door last November, 2 young girls about 7:30pm. Normally i wouldn’t answer, regretting it ever since. They asked to see my bill to explain where exactly they were going to be 'saving me money’. Stupidly I handed it to her, she asks for my phone # to start the enrollment process, I gave her a FAKE NUMBER, she tells me a test call has to be placed to that #. My husband walks in the room and says very firmly No Thanks we are not interested and tells me to close the door. I tell them Sorry we aren’t interested and she keeps saying 'but why, why did you change your mind I don’t understand why aren’t you interested’ I started to lose patience as nobody wants to be hounded like that after already POLITELY saying no. I ended up closing the door on them.

Then about 2 weeks later I get a letter saying changes were made to my ACCT. Get my pg&e bill and see SFE charged me $40. That’s when the issues start. Very hard to get ahold of, finally dod and explained the situation, when asked at the beginning of the call for my # to look up ACCT, of course she can’t find it because I never gave it to them. She tells me they will have management match the 'verification call’ with my voice from the current call and once they conclude they don’t match it will be cancelled. Got a new bill today, SFE stillllll trying to charge me. Called again, woman told me I’d need to send in picture of my DL with valid signature in order to fully cancel and 'request’ a refund. It blows my mind these 2 little girls changed the phone number to one they have access too, and used it prentending to be me on the authorization call. So incredibly, outrageously illegal and I will absolutely without hesitation get an attorney involved and will further investigate RPM Group who hires SFE and their sales team to track that girl down. In the meantime I’ll be requesting money from them that’s mine to begin with.

A representative from SFE Energy came to my door offering savings on my energy bills, both gas and electric. I noticed that my biggers were a lot higher. He offered me a comparable fixed rate to what I was paying. I discovered the rates were twice as high as what I was paying.

I called SFE and the representative was quite rude and wanted to charge me $165 for early cancellation after I already been paying almost twice the rate I was suppose to be paying. I talked to two reps and both gave me different rates on a supposable contract they were looking at in their computer. Obvivously they were lying.

I talked to AEP, my electric provider here in Ohio, and they verified that my rate was almost two times their rate, what I should have been paying. The AEP representative was not surprised at all by my complaint against SFE.

These people are predators and should be shut down. They take advantage of people and never follow through on their promises. I was also told I would receive a check for one hundred dollars, never got it. I never signed a contract but was told I did and I would be sent a copy, never got it.

I would have never agreed to pay twice the rate that I was paying; no one would. This is a scam!!!

This is an energy provider company. In my area, you normally have PGE in California, but they offer natural gas at a different rate. They send door to door salesmen, and in my experience, the salesman told me I could get energy more cheaply than I was currently paying. I had used a lot of energy for a pool heater, and for the span of a year I was using a large amount - and paying for it! Hence the lure of a cheaper rate. However, I was not informed at contract signing of important things, like its a 3 year contract, and you only pay a low rate for 41 therms a year. After that, it's higher and not a cost savings after all. When I looked at my bill the next month I was being charges as a large user. But since my husband passed away, I was the opposite. Nevertheless I was charged an extra fee each month by SFEE as a large user, regardless of the energy I really used. When I called them - and it is very difficult to get through, they said there is nothing I can do. If I wish to switch back to PGE I would have to pay almost 200 dollars in cancellation fees. Bottom line, I am posting this because I do not recommend them, as they fail to inform you when they come to your home of the facts. I intend to file with PUC about them, but if you see them, it is too good to be true and don't fall for it!

I was home alone and a 2 man team approached my door. They demanded to see my ultility bill, and said they had to make sure I was on the right "program". I told them they were tresspassing on private property, and they needed to leave. One of the men got very aggressive and called me a racist. He started yelling at me that they were licensed by the US Department of energy and could go wherever they wanted. I called to police to have them ejected. He continued his verbal assault the entire time I was on the phone with the Manteca Police Department.

I find preditory business tactics distasteful.

Two young men knocked on my door, dressed OK, had lanyards stating SFE. They weren't overly aggressive, but red flags were raised when one of them asked to see my bills, then said it was to see if costs had been deducted from the bills, and that it was something I had already signed up for. Lies. I'm with Ethical Electric. I'd heard of reports of these aggressive energy pirates before. At least they gave up and left when I said No, you don't have to see my bill. He tried to repeat that it was something I already signed up for and I said "No I did not." They were already moving on when I shut the door.

I had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to report this to the PUC, and Duquesne Light's phone had no option for it. It was also difficult to find SFE's physical address, but I hope this does something.
