Region 6 Life Help Mental Center Crisis Center Reviews

  • Nov 10, 2018

Dear Whoever It May Concern,

I am writing you all for changes to be made. This past week from Monday, Oct. 27, 2014 to Friday, Oct 31, 2014 I had to go to Region 6 Life Help Mental Health Crisis Center in Grenada, MS because my mother filed an affidavits against me over for a simple problem that could have been solved for me simply staying out of her car or from me stop calling her. I would have done that without a problem if she insisted. She kept voluntarily was coming around me & to my home daily & I help her with her school assignments, so I could not have been a threat. Anyways, I was forced to go to the mental health crisis center without my rights being read and without being told why I was going there. I was not technically being arrested is their explanation after I got to the place of why that happened. I believe that it should have been my right to refuse to go until after I went to court without being punished. I believe that it should be my right to take any prescription medications or to seek any treatment programs such as crisis center, outpatient program, or mental health hospitals; especially if I do not think it is beneficial for me. I like taking natural medicines for mental health like St. John's Wort or would rather seek private therapy if things come up in my life that is too much to handle. I currently am attending a fully accredited and state licensed online university pursuing my B.S. In Psychology (graduation date is 04/21/2015). I am living in my own apartment and taking care of my own self well. I don't have a history of violence or any of those things. I don't believe that I have a mental illness and do not even believe that mental illnesses exist (scientifically). I had some lifestyle changes that was unbearable for me at one period of time. I learned how to overcome them with further education and research; though. I know that education is always the key to problems. The judge and/or prosecutor did dismiss any medical advice and dismissed me from the case for lack of evidence, which I am grateful for.

I just want the laws to be changed for people to have to see a judge before they go anywhere, and they should have a right to refuse to go to any place until they go to court without being penalized. Their rights should be read before they go anywhere and they should be told why they are coming somewhere even if they are not being arrested. I seen many people who were there because they simply pissed off a family member like their family members did not want them living with them because they were getting into it; etc. I think before they have to go to any programs like that the judges; etc. should see can the problems without the person who is filling the affidavits be solved by simply throwing the person who they don't want living with them out of their homes first. If the person don't leave, then they should explore further options to do. I think situations like this is a waste of time for the criminal justice system, medical teams, and taxpayers. Also, I do not think that just because anyone file an affidavits against you that you should have to automatically go anywhere. I think that is a violation of humans' rights and the U.S. Constitution. I think they should have to have hardcore proof like pictures, video cameras, and voice recorders first. It should be something that is happening thoroughly too. No one should have to go through any treatment facility like a behavioral health facility, crisis center, state hospital; etc. if they do not want to. No one should have to take any prescription medicines if they don't want to; either. America is supposed to be “the land of the free”, so I do not understand why this is happening. Also, if people break laws, they should have to just go to jail rather than to places like that. I do believe in taking responsibility for your actions, working hard to get what you want, and giving back to society and humanity.

Do not get me wrong. Since you all make or help make the laws, I just think you all should change it or help to change it. Also, many of the people who worked there did not seem to really cared or even paid attention to the patients or clients. We could only use the phone once at 6:30 P.M. To 9:00 P.M., which is when many people be sleep or do not like answering their phones. It was like being in jail. Everything was very structured. We had to wake up at certain times and eat on their schedules. I believe that the people in places like that should have more freedoms. They did not like patients standing around the counter or near the door regardless of whether or not that it was bothering them. No one could go outside for fresh air when they wanted to or needed. If someone was not in another unit, the patients could not even take naps when they wanted to. I believe that they should be more careful on who they hire at places like that. One of the technicians were even reported on the day that I left. The ones who said that they loved their jobs was very compassionate. I hope to see changes made in the laws. As I write this letter, I feel like I am being a voice for others who have been through this and am currently going through it too. Please be sympathetic to causes like this and changes being made as if it was one of your family members, your friends, or even you for that matter.

Yours,

My name is P. I suffered from Major Depression & still suffers from Social Anxiety Disorder. I had an issue come the past month of 02/2018. This guy who I had been seeing & in a relationship with had slapped me & stole my cellphone because I would not give him my $20 around midnight on 02/05/2018. I was previously helping him with money, but I chose not to give it to him for several reasons that following morning. He had even brought back my cellphone by my house around 7 A.M. that Monday morning on 02/05/2018 stating that he was about to go do some work & give it to him so that I can get my cellphone back because he needs to buy him some food. I told him that I am not giving him my money because I need to buy some food myself. He told me that he will buy a Pick-5 (of groceries at my local grocery store SuperValu) & asked me what did I want. I told him that I do not want him to get me anything. I only want my cellphone back, or I am going to the police on him. He told me that no one will believe me because I am koo koo & have no proof. He walked out my door & called me a b***h. I waited 24 hours for him to bring me back my cellphone. I went out and made papers out on it for hitting me & stealing my cellphone. They had a warrant for his arrest. The police finally caught up to him that same Friday 02/09/2018 when he had turned himself in. He had denied to the police that he had seen me & took my cellphone.

Anyways, we went to court this week on Tuesday, 02/27/2018. His lawyer Mr. Bailey & the judge tried to ask me about my mental health issues & does that make people like & do I have a mental illness & do I get a check for it. Those things were irrelevant to the case & embarrased me severely. They even called my mother on to the stand (when she had nothing to do with that). My mother spoke all facts. She told them that I do have "social anxiety disorder" & take medicines for it, but I am a very intelligent female. She also stated that social anxiety disorder does not cause anyone to lie. When the guy got on stand, he called me koo koo & tried to say that I am lying because I use a Ouija Board that tells me what to do. He stated that I am crazy & my mother knows that I am crazy. Anyways, the guy who I had been dating was found guilty of "petty larceny" and "simple assault" and was fined for it. He have 30 days to pay the charges. They were trying to intimidate me as if my mental health issue have something to do with that case. I feel like laws should be changed & they should not just bring that up in court when a person is defending themselves & telling their stories. I know people with mental health issues & mental illnesses come from all walks of life including doctors, lawyers, astronauts, celebrities, politicians, kings, queens, and even our current president Donald Trump. Studies have shown that people with mental health issues & mental illnesses are not more likely to do anything (like violence for instance) than any other group of people regardless of how they are portrayed in Hollywood & in the media.

I live in . I have a HSEQ diploma (GED), an undergraduated certificate in psychology (from a fully, accredited & online school by DETC), a bachelor's degree in psychology (from a fully, accredited & online school by DETC), and 0.9 IACET CEUs). I have paid work experience from Jet.com, Inc., through gigs such as telephone mystery shopping, and volunteer work experience (where I achieved results from). I am bettering myself to get off of S.S.I. & get a work from home job or traditional, part-time job (& later full time job). People including some of my own family love to use or try to use my mental health against me as if I do not have a right to voice my opinion, take a stand against what I believe in, practice what I believe in, fully support myself in the court of law, stand up for what is right; etc. They accuse of going to be committed to a mental institution, which I feel is not right. I know America is "the land of the free" & "the home of the brave". May you all please do something about all of this? I have seen & heard about other people in situations like or similar to mines who were punished for all of this. I feel that more people should take a stand against all of this injustice when it comes to people who have mental illnesses; etc. In addition to all of this, I had issues that came up in 2014.

This is another letter that I wrote about my situation in 2014:

The nurse practitioner name Shundra or Shunda have a nasty attitude and abuse her powers. One time at the Life Help Mental Center in she was getting very angry and nasty at me because I had told her that I wanted to change medications (it is known in there that you have to consistently change medications until you find the correct one). She angrily yelled at me and asked me did I want to go to the hospital and every time that I said anything to her she had got smart.
