Scam

I was offered a freelance translator job at this company via someone whom says to be working there, after performing two tests I never heard back from the person who contacted me.

Maybe a outsourcing scam. Beware.

Here is the email I got:

Quill Content

We’re looking for someone to transcreate hotel descriptions from English into French.

These descriptions will vary in length but will be made up of 300 words of prose and a series of bullet points. The bullet points will include information like disabled bathroom access, wifi, children’s pool etc. This information will be provided by the hotel, and as a result, the pieces will vary in length. Because of this, we will have rate brackets for pieces of varying length.

We are still determining the brief with the client, but the rate will be calculated on an hourly rate of £19-23 per hour. As soon as we know the confirmed rate per piece we will let you know. This project will run for 5 months.

NOTE: By transcreation, we mean that you should not just rewrite the work as direct translations, but rather include tweaks and amendments in the translation (like in choice of word, word order, and grammar) that will make the work more readable and flowing to the target audience, as well as considering cultural sensitivities.

To be considered for this role, you will need to take a short automated translation test (with multiple choices) to establish your translation skills, followed by a brief-specific transcription test (300 words) to ascertain your practical trancreation skills.

If you are interested in this position, please let me know so that I can send the test to you ASAP.

Kindly note that time is of the essence because the project is starting soon on a first-come, first-served basis. So the sooner you respond if interested, the better.

Feel free to get back to me with any questions you may have.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Nancy

This company CONSTANTLY contacts me and my marketing company about great offers. I have NEVER contacted them in my life. They are SPAMMERS and they constantly SPAM me. They keep selling these big claims and I have heard that they rip people off.

Here are some of their emails:

Hi,

My name is Mike Hall and I run Quill Marketing. I found your company online and I wanted to see if we could set up a time to visit this week.

My company provides blogs for SEO companies’ clients. Basically, we white label our services so you would be able to offer you clients a monthly blogging package…without having to do all the heavy lifting. We would do all the work and you could mark up the prices as much as you’d like.

I know that you offer blogging services right now, but if we could help you scale or take some work off your plate, I’d love to visit with you. Feel free to check out our website, Quill Marketing, for more information, but I’d love to set up a brief call to see if this is something that makes sense for you.

Do you have any time later on this week?

Thanks,

Mike Hall

Hi,

I’m not sure if you got my message a couple of days ago, but I wanted to see if you had any time later on this week or next week for a quick call.

We allow SEO companies to offer blogging services to their clients without any work on their part. We do all the work, and you simply charge your clients. This allows you to grow without having to manage a team of writers.

We can white label our services one of three ways:

1) We stay behind the scenes, and do all the blogging and posting

2) We interact as a part of your company (you can even set us up with an email)

3) We tell your client that we are in a partnership with your company

I’d love to jump on a call to see if this is something that would be helpful to you.

I was send a strange offer by someone pretending to work for QuillContent. This company should check if they are using their name to do ghost outsourcing.
