Public Moving & Storage Reviews

  • May 20, 2017

Do not use Public Moving and Storage, Your Moving Company and Public Moving Services. They are scammers. They take your things then taunt you with demanding thousands of dollars. Don't be fooled by sweet talking sales reps who promise you that your belongings will be taken care of with pride. These idiots could care less. Broken and missing items, months delay. The idiots laugh at the folks they scam. The laughing will stop. It is a matter of time.

Thank you for using the Better Business Bureau's Online Complaint System.

Your complaint has been assigned case # 511878.

Filed against :

Public Moving Services

7706 Waterford Square Dr Apt 1221

Charlotte NC 28226-8644

Complaint Description:

Public Moving Services. sent a "binding quote" on April 29th 2017 for $2,988 to move all my families household goods from a U-haul storage unit in Plymouth, MN to South Jordan, UT; after loading goods, they changed price to $5,250 after it was too late cancel. Job No: PS2756692. Quote: 827 cubic feet, $4/ cubic foot. They added 400 additional cubic feet to charges after loading all my household goods into truck. Salesman Alex "promised" no additional charges more than original binding quote.

I specifically told Alex that if the "BINDING QUOTE" was a penny over $3,000, I would just move it myself as U-haul quoted me only $1,500 for a huge 26' moving truck that has easily fit all my household goods on prior moves.

Sensing that he was about to loose the sale, he promised that the price would not exceed the "Binding Quote" price. The phone call is recorded for the judge to hear.

Angela, at Public moving listened to their recordings of the phone calls between me and Alex where he promised "No additional charges". Yelp, web site has 33 people complaining of the very same predator sales tactics to under bid, and then over charge customers after pick up when it is too late to change plans. Rip Off Report also has a scathing review of another couples horrific move with these evil, lying, cheating, dishonest, creaps.

The police in Charlotte, NC have been notified on May 15th. The police in Plymoth, MN and Iowa will be notified on May 16th. Attorney for client has also been notified and is preparing legal action against the predatory sales tactics of Public Moving and Storage, of Charlotte, NC.

Now all my families personal household goods are in a warehouse in Iowa, held for ransom until I pay the added price. Alex, indicated a single truck would transport all items directly to my home at , South Jordan, Utah, but ended up in Iowa instead by May 15th.

Your Desired Resolution:

I just want my household goods delivered into my home in South Jordan, UT in excellent condition by May 22nd for the agreed upon price of $2,988, plus a bonus of $1,000 for any additional small items not listed in the original quote. Total offered is $3,988 for delivery of items in good condition. Otherwise I will pick up my items at the warehouse in Iowa with a fleet of police escorts to ensure delivery of all my personal household goods in good condition and I will file a Class Action Law Suit against Public Moving Services on behalf of all 35 people on Yelp and Rip Off Report web site that were ripped off by Public Moving for added moving costs, pain, suffering, court costs, etc.

This case will be reviewed by a complaint specialist at the Better Business Bureau, and then forwarded to the business for their response. It is our policy to allow the business 10 working days to respond to your complaint. You will be notified when the business has responded.

Additional Attornies interested in filing this class action law suite are welcome to contact me to joint the legal action team against the perpertratiors, Public Moving Services of Charlott, NC, to prevent their long running scam, with at least 35+ injured families on the record, from injuring other citizens unaware of these predatory dishonest moving practices.

Protect yourself and all your personal possessions, furniture, clothing, family pictures, and journals from predatory ripoff scammers called Public Moving and Storage, Charlotte, NC. Please, Never, Never, Never hire them to fleece you of your hard earned money during your next move.

I ordered a moving company called Public Moving and Storage. It was the worst mistake of my life. I went through all the reviews on their webpage most of them were pretty good reviews. I called the company talked to a guy named Andrew. Andrew told me they were with the BBB which I now find out they are not.Nice guy, very pleasant to speak with. He told me he’d be with me every step of the way and that was the first of many lies that would come to follow. We set it up so that I would call when I was ready for delivery.

The pickup from the original destination was on Nov. 28th that would give me 30 days storage. I call on the 28th of Dec. it would give me 10 to 12 days for the delivery from VT to WA that way no storage was needed this was going to work out perfect or so I thought. The 1st call came on the 20th that the truck was on its way, no I didn’t call; I wasn’t ready didn’t have an address yet. 28th got a call truck was in town needed address to deliver. The company made me put it in to storage and wire them full payment.

When I got the address of the storage come to find out 5 days later that it wasn’t mine. I was told mine would ship out in a couple days from a warehouse in CT. over a month later and calls every day I still didn’t get my property.

Asked the moving company to just bring my property to my brother’s house 5 miles away from original pick up address. I was so mad I figured if they lost it they would fight me on this, if they had it they would bring it back, it was closer than going across country and I would at least know I had my property even if I couldn’t put my hands on it.

7 days after that call my property was at my brother’s house. Now the property that was left in WA by the moving company was picked up the day after my property was delivered back to VT.

It’s funny how I’d call them begging them to bring me my property, they were unable to get a truck out to WA But the day after mine was delivered to VT they were in WA picking up the wrong stuff. They could have delivered mine to me; had they just told me we do finally have a truck going to WA.

They absolutely refused to deliver my property to me. This is the worst company, liars, deceitful, untrustworthy, no morals. I guess had I been the only one, I would give them the benefit of the doubt but I have about a dozen different stories just like mine in just the last few months working with this company.

basically this company sucks do not use them you will regret it !

I had a move scheduled from Colorado to Idaho. I was perfectly clear in what we had to move, and was quoted a price of approximately $2,600 for the complete move including the business packing our items at our home. Well...Obviously, it sounded to good to be true, but I took the bait. When the movers arrived, Alex, the foreman quickly announced that we had many more things than we had listed when I spoke to the agent on the phone to make the reservation for the move. He re-calculated our cost, and the price more than doubled...It went from apprroximately $2,600 to over $5,500. I was irate but terrified at the same time. I had already given $649 for a deposit--just to get the movers to come to our house. I read in the contract that if we opted out of using their service at the time of their arrival, then they would keep the deposit (and we would receive nothing in return). I was horrified at how things were turning out.

Next, I spoke with Alex's manager on the phone. Her name is Angela. With her quirky Yankee accent, she basically told me and my wife that we were at her mercy. We could either pony up and give them the money that they were asking for (or they would leavve us stranded). We had no choice but to comply with their demands because we were due in Idaho in a few days to start our new jobs. This event quickly eroded some of the sheen that we had been seeing regarding our move and new start in another part of the country. Well, I rapidly figured out how to gather the money that they were demading and made a wire transfer to their bank to pay half of the 'new' balance due for the move. Oh, let me interject really fast and state that the company claimed that we had never negotiated a packing service for our things in our home. Angela and Alex made it clear that we would have to pack all of our belongings before they would load them onto their truck. They stated that they would be back in a few days to gather our things.

Well, the next couple of days were pure hell, as my wife and I frantically packed up our things. We had to leave after that to start our journey to Idaho. So, we left all of our things in our house in Colorado with no way to watch these agents of Satan to load our things onto their truck. A few days later, after we arrived in Idaho, we received a phone call from Angela's dispatcher saying that there was a delay in the shipment of our goods. Apparently, the truck they were going to use had had a mechanical issue. This caused a delay of about 4 days in the shipment of our things. I was promised by their company that they would be the ones delivering our items, but when they arrived this morning in Idaho, a different company had our things. That was bizarre and scarey. Apparently, Public Moving and Storage had subcontracted our job to a different carrier. It was a pair of Russians that were operating the semi. The Russians were shady looking, and I did not trust them. The driver demanded final payment in CASH before he would unload the truck. I was fortunately prepared for this and paid the money that had been inflated from the original estimate. I realize that I probalby do not have much recourse for rectification from this event since I basically paid for evertyhing in cash, but my wife and I were totally victimized by these usurious fat cats. They know they have people at their mercy, and they certainly do not hesitate to expolit that fact.

I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYBODY--NOT EVEN THEIR PRINCE (BEELZEBUB).

PLEASE HELP YOURSELF AND FIND A MORE REPUTABLE AND RELIABLE COMPANY. THESE PEOPLE ARE LIARS AND WILL BRING YOU HARM WHEN YOU ARE MOST VULNERABLE AND WEAK. THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU AT THEIR EVERY CONVENIENCE.
