Public Fundraising Regulatory Association Reviews

  • Mar 3, 2020

In my opinion that fundraisers in Australia and the general public have been duped into what is called a "pfra code" by a company that doesn't even have the capacity to "regulate" one big charity, such as Australian Red Cross that operates nationally. the PFRA is a rip off, first to fundraisers and an instrument of causing havoc in the charitable sector. In fact, the PFRA is simply APPCO and Cornurcopia that is trading under a different name to give charities that lost legitimacy and public trust through wage scandals, such as Wesley Mission, plan International, Amnesty International, Peter Macculum Cancer Council. The greatest joke this year is that the face-to-face manager's whose charities need to account for wage scandals of 2016 are sitting on PFRA this year as "Executive Director", "Regulating themselves" and giving legitimacy to themselves. APPCO is still taking charit money all the way to the bank laughing and has not changed it's model and isnt going to any time soon.

PUBLIC FUNDRAISING REGULATORY ASSOCIATION (pfra) Australia is not a real "self-regulator" but a money hungry organisation making big profits off charities in exchange for fake "self-regulation". This is the REAL reason in the UK, the Company was forced to drop using the word "regulatory". It was operating at a big loss under the Leadership of none other than the man that ran away from the UK to now head PFRA Australia and claims to be an expert in everything about face-to-face, when he has little or no knowledge about face-to-face. In fact, he is aware that just the fact that the organisation in Australia still refers to itself as a "regulator" is deceptive conduct misleading Australian Public.

The PFRA Australia is simply APPCO and Cornucorpia and the same people that annoy members of the public. How can organisation with deceptive conduct sel-regulate? If the incumnebt CEO was honest enough, cause of action he should have done would be to drop the word "regulatory" from the organisation's name and to simply refer to themselves as The Public Fundraising Association as in the UK.

These guys are simply power fricks that manipulate fundraisers and charities and APPCO chronies taking us for a ride.

Mr Paul Tavatgis, started Public Fundraising Regulatory Association in 2014. It is my opinion that the intentions were good. His earlier article was entitled, "protect face-to-face", and I can only hope that that is still the case. In my view, the PFRA Australia is a one man band under the guise of an association; amd has evolved over time amd is now money-minded, money focused and the objective is now focuesd on manipulating small suppliers, under false pretences of "penalty fees"; suspending them, without due and fair process and then later "reinstating them" after payment of fees:

The Public Fundraising Regulatory Association, which claims to be a self-regulating association, regulating face-to-face fundraising in Australia appear not to be real in its claims to enforce compliance to the code it borrowed from the PFRA in the UK. The penalty fees raised from weaker, smaller suppliers are intented to shut down their operations and are simply punitive damages and maybe inappropriate and illegal. If the PFRA were real, then sanctions or suspension, would havebeen the appropriate option to be meted against the big supplier listed on its website, when there was a serious complaint regarding shaking hands lodged with government agencies in NSW. The PFRA did nothing in relation to suspending ASAP, when Wesley Mission and Amnesty international were seriously implicated in wage payment scandal. The PFRA has not taken any issues against the biggest supplier listed on its website inspite the fact over 1000 employees, deemed "independent contractors"were underpaid, some less than $4 per hour as they claim and the FairWork Ombudsman is currently investigating, which is actually detrimental to the entire charitable sector in Australia. Like, the Proverbial Ostrich, the PFRA, continues to burry its head in the sand, hoping the issue will just go away, but it wont since the unpaid workers should have had a positive experience of the charitable sector.

The PFRA cannot comply with the code it simply borrowed from the UK, and more recently has imported former PFRA CEO from the UK,at the time the PFRA in the UK appear to have merged with another company due to financial pressure. Do your own due diligence and research before joining the PFRA in Australia. All the statements in this articles are my personal opinions.
