DON'T USE PEACHSTATE WINDOWS!

Peachstate Windows is like the 4th or 5th business Jeff Shea has started in the last dozen years or so. Unfortunately I didn't check him out thoroughly enough before hiring him off of Home Advisors (never use them again either I guess). At first I just thought he was a bad businessman given what happened, but as I researched him I found he is probably a bit unscrupulous as well, and others have had the same issues as me in the past with his other businesses (Peachstate was just formed 2/16).

Jeff was all nice at first, eager to come out and see the job and get me a quote, very attentive. Until I gave him a $495 downpayment on a $2495 job to replace my patior door, the frame, and screen. He told me it can take 3 weeks for the door to come in because it has to be a custom retro fit because of the age of my house and modifications prior owner did. I wasn't in a great hurry so I was okay with that.

At the end of 3 weeks, he said the door hadn't come in yet, but was certain it would be in the next couple of days, and put me on the install schedule for the following weekend (4 weeks from first quoting job).

When 4th week passed and I hadn't heard anything, I had to make 4 phone calls to his cell and the office (wife works admin I guess) over 24 hours. No one would ever answer any call. After 24 hours and 4 messages, Jeff called back and informs me that the door wasn't in and would not be in for 2 more weeks - a total of 6 weeks after initial quote. I told him that this was unacceptable, that I informed him that it had to be done by a certain date (4 weeks from initial quote) because I was going to be traveling after that. I had cancelled a weekend trip to be home for the install the 4th week.

I told Jeff that since I could not accommodate an install after a certain date, I wanted my deposit back. He started with a song and dance, and refusing to refund. I found out from the vendor he ordered from that he did not order the door until 9 days after he told me would. His wife told me they have troulbe with the vendor being behind on orders - then get a different vendor!

I tried to work it out with Jeff, but finally had to send him a demand letter, and will probably have to file a lawsuit. Good thing I work in the legal field!
