This company has a website that looks official for renewing passport online. It asked for far more personal information than the government site and after I completed it and paid $69, I immediately knew something was wrong and requested a refund via email. However, I will cancel with my bank. I am very concerned about the personal information that was shared over the internet and have no idea with whom it was actually shared.
I am trying to renew my passport for an upcoming trip to Italy. I searched for Passport renewal and found a website that looked like a government site. I filled out a very detailed online application and gave $69 for the application fee. I was informed that my documents would arrive in 24-48 hours. It has been 8 days and I haven't received anything. It seems that I was scammed and in addition to the loss of $69, I've given out highly sensitive information regarding my identity.
I went to apply online for a passport which I have done before. The site looked official but it turned out to be a "processing" or as they call it a "proofreading" site. Not only was I charged for nothing and the application contained errors, they asked for data which far exceeds the information requested by the Federal government. I am very concerned about identity theft, the fact they have my credit card information and in gathering data, they also gathered data about other members of my family.
