Option One Reviews

  • Sep 24, 2015

I received a phonce call today, 9/23/15 @ 11:16am from a loan agancy names Option One Financial Services. The man on the phone said his name was Jeremy James and he was calling me to inform me that my loan application has been approved by the managers FOR $2,600.00. He stated that before the funds could be released into my account, he needed to verify some of my information. He started reading back my address, date of birth, full name and all the rest of my personal information. After all that was said and done, he said my monthly payments will be in the amount of $124.14. He asked if I agreed and I said yes. He told me to write down my loan ID number which was "97930593"

This process seemed to be a normal process until he started talking about my ability to pay the monthy payments. I explained to him that I was more than able to pay all of my payments and on time every month. He explained that to prove to them that I was able to make my monthly payments in the amount of $124.14, I needed to get a pre-paid amazon card and load a dollar amount of $125.00 "Cash" - no credit/debit purchase. Once I had gotten the Amazon card, I was instructed to call him back with the recepit number. I asked him why an Amazon card, and his answer was " We are an affiliated company with Amazon, and you will be making your payments through the Amazon website once payments are due. We ask that you use cash only, because we have found in the past that people were using their family, or co-workers cards to pay their payments and the other people were effected with an overdraft fee".

Being "almost" caught in a loan scam before, there were red flags all over the place. He had the nerve to read me some disclaimer stating that if people call me and ask me for my credit card number or social security number, to hang up immediatly and call the police. He stated that he will give me a call back in a few hours to give me enough time to get the Amazon card ready for him. Once I hung up the phone with him, I immediately got onto the computer and found Ripoff "My Lifesavers". I found 2 other stories almost exactly like mine. I have blocked the number once and for all.

Please beware of loan scammers. There are far more scammers then there are loan companies now a days and they are getting smarter and smarter by the minute. Be smart when applying for a loan and please as yourself "This is to good to be true" and do research before you send money or do anything like that.
