Open Sesame Garage Doors, LLC Reviews

  • Aug 6, 2019

I am writing in complaint to a 'bait & switch' / double billing scheme from an unscrupulous garage door contractor Open Sesame Garage Doors LLC, and its Principals Scott William Dillon, Nichole Marie Dillon and Ray H. Richardson, as to where we were quoted an upgraded garage door opener.

The contractor installed a different one, a basic model, yet charged us for the more expensive model that may not even be safe. This contractor & its Principals have not made any amends to remedy, in spite of months of effort. Here is the background: On or about 1/7/19, our home warranty service, American Home Shield ("AHS") sent Open Sesame Garage doors to my home for the repair of my old 1/2HP Genie Garage Door Opener.

The Technician, "TJ" explained we needed to replace it, which would normally be covered by warranty. Since our home has the old type heavy garage door, had replaced several "1/2 HP" models over a short period of time, I asked if we could upgrade to a "3/4 HP" to ensure longevity and safety. 'TJ' said we could upgrade; however, the warranty would only cover the cost of the 1/2 HP replacement, but we would pay for the upgrade in HP (horsepower).

We also requested items not covered by our warranty from AHS, new nylon rollers & a keypad. "TJ" contacted one of the Owners / Principals of Open Sesame, Nichole Marie Dillion, who gave us a quote our total out of pocket costs, $352.00. This would be for a Lift Master 8550W Elite with WIFI & DC Battery Back Up (Attached Quote from Open Sesame). The $352 was our net cost after paying our AHS deductible - which was paid directly to AHS.

Open Sesame had charged our credit card $352 on January 28, 2019 after installation of the garage door opener, rollers and new keypad by their tech "TJ". (American Express Statement of charges - attached). Ms. Dillon tried to charge our AMEX twice, for a total of $704.00, luckily we caught her & made certain that the 2nd charge was credit back to our charge card (2 charges & credit attached).

Shortly thereafter, we noticed we were having the same issues as before, that is the garage door struggling. We then noticed the Garage Door Opener that was the actual base model, Lift Master 8355W 1/2 HP; not the ¾ HP motor we paid for - the Lift Master 8550W model (Attached). On or about Feb. 4th, 2019, we contacted the tech, 'TJ' who stated, "he didn't remember" and to contact 'Nichole'. We contacted Nichole Marie Dillon, who now began backtracking & trying to get out of installing the correct garage door opener.

Ms. Dillon made statements to the effect that she is not going to do anything; she claims now since she mistakenly quoted the wrong amount and was losing money (which was a lie, nor was it was our problem), there was nothing she could do. Ms. Dillon even tried to claim we made an error, however, we showed her Open Sesame's own Quote.

In spite of the facts, Ms. Dillon continued arguing, going to yet another fabrication about she even overpaid for the lower grade garage opener installed at our home, and that 'losing money'; in actuality, Open Sesame had been fully reimbursed by the warranty company, AHS). The she stated it was not her problem anymore, refuse to deal with it and stuck her head in the sand. It became apparent their Motus Opporandi was to scam us.

We disputed with American Express, Ms. Dillon responded to AMEX, again lying, stating we were charged the correct amount for the correct part - knowing well this was a falsehood. Since January 2019, Open Sesame Garage Door LLC., and its Principals Marie Dillion, Scott Dillon and Ray Richardson has had ample time to come to our home & install the correct garage door opener. It is apparent this is not going to happen.

There are concerns that the cheaper one they installed will soon fail; a larger concern if it fails, and our garage door (which is very heavy) falls & harms our family, pets or guests. It is not only illegal what they have done, but unconscionable as to the lack of action in light that someone could be harmed. Referred complaint to the Arizona Registrar of Contractor, Arizona State Attorney Generals' Office & a Bond Claim with their Surety - Western Surety / CNA. Complete scumbag tactics, obviously very adept at screwing over consumers and getting away with it.
