OneMain Financial Reviews

This company gets less than a star. A loan arrangement was made at 6% interest and a set amount. They did not honor the 6% interest and made me pay 22% interest after they conveniently lost the paperwork and recorded phone conversation. Do not do business with this predatory lender.

I’m grateful for receiving loan from OneMain Financial. Unfortunately, the ignorance of the executive customer service of Accepted for Value payments although accepting this legal form of payment has resulted in their being paid twice.

They created a case number and haven’t returned the instrument of payment. I asked them to return instrument during initial phone call, and it wasn’t returned. During the phone call today @ approximately 1420, the representative offered to return the instrument of payment.

It’s unfortunate that their unfamiliarity with this form of payment at their level employment is being denied. My payoff payment was to paid by my fiduciary from my bond.

I recommend to all first responders, military, and veterans to boycott doing business with OneMain Financial.

I have had a loan with One Main for years, but over a year ago I had heart surgery. Before I had surgery I could renew my loan with no problem...after surgery they deny me renewal even though I have kept up my payment. If you have a loan with One Main...don't ever get sick...you will never get another loan.

I received a loan from these shysters a few years ago. It was paid off November 10, 2018. I made my payments electronically through my checking account. DO NOT DO THAT! I noticed today, 12/11/18, they had taken another payment from my account. I called their 800 number and was told that although I only owed $2.47 for some reason (some additional finance charge or something) they took out an entire payment from my account. They said they would deduct the $2.47 from that and then send me a refund for the balance. Of course, the refund won't be sent out until after 12/25, two more weeks they have my money. I have a husband who's a dialysis patient and he's not doing well. We could really use that money right now. I called the local branch where I obtained the loan, and they were no help, either.

So now I end up having to stop payment on the transaction and pay the bank a $31 fee to do so.

I don't recommend them to anyone. They're as bad as payday loans.

A few months ago I applied for a title loan with One Main. They reduced it to 3100 because of the mileage on my truck. That's the easy part. I specifically asked if I would be able to pay it off early and save on the interest and was told I could. I was paying double the amount due, at times more but the amount barely moved. When I called to ask why, I found out I signed off for 800 more, 3900 which included some BS insurance for 500. I immediately canceled it and demanded the overall amount be reduced. Why would I insure an old truck? The manager, Troy wanted to explain (Marietta branch) but I wasn't having it. Next thing I knew I was hung up on. Not to be deterred I looked into the legality

of it and realized that even though I asked about quickly paying the loan off these scumbags gave me what is called an add-on loan instead of a balance reduction loan so they could get more money. Without telling me. It appears that they are really not interested in early payoffs but will lie in the hopes you do not look too closely into it. I could not even access my loan info even though they claim you can read it anytime online. They have a responsibility to the applicant to let them know the TYPE of loan they are getting but they did not and left me with no option to go to a different lender if I did not like the terms of theirs. Instead of my balance being halved through my payments, It's still higher than the amount I got even though I have not missed a payment since getting it. I will be in front of a judge if by the next due date they refuse to rewrite the terms. A judge would have to force me to pay that and if they convince him/her, at the very least it will be a public record

Marvin Black, the lending Manage agreed to release my funds and guarenteed that I would be recieving loan of $ 3000 dollars with the approval code SS1111 after we acompleted the first trancaction he stated that there would not be no additionalmcharges madewith the exception of the 267 dollars for the insurance fee who woul pay the rest of the one year loan fee . He told me to cal the confirmation officer whose name was James williams who who took down my google and bank card information down and then turned around and told me and my family whoheard him on the phone on June 29,2018 Friday that I was out of luck and that I could not get my 250 dollars backand persisted to threatn us and pressure me into paying a stste to state fee of $655.00. These scams put us in a financal bind where my phone and rent was behind schedule causing stress that was unecessary.

Thank you for your time and looking forward to hearing the results to this case., Sincerly, Rev. Robert D. davis

The companies own web page states that the inquiry will not hurt your score from checking for pre-qualified offers, and this is the norm with most lending companies. However, the submitted an actual application without my permission and no one at their company can explain why a pre-check turned into an actual application so this has to be some sort of scam on their back end as they are submitting any information as an application. I have done these type of pre-check / soft pull a few times with other companies in the past and not one has ever shown up my credit report except for the company I fully applied to years ago but not one of the many pre-check I did with that company as I waited for the best possible rate every showed up.

They must believe that since I was approved for the amount I entered that I would completely overlook the fact that I did not submit an actual application but a pre-check to see potential rates. This is their way of hurting your chances with other potential lenders because now it shows you are looking for an actual loan instead of checking out potential offers so now when you complete pre-check with other companies they will show up and the automated systems that lenders use will deny offering you anything because it looks like you may already have a loan out even though that is not the case at all.

I assume this type of business practice is not illegal since I gave them the information and consent to pre-qualify only but I have no way of proving that this was all actually I consented to so this inquiry will sit there on my report for 2 years preventing me from looking elsewhere if and when I may actually need a personal loan.

I would suggest for those working on their credit report that you skip this company and all its affiliates due to their hard inquire process and their blatant unethical practice to make them your only option once your credit is run even for a soft pull.

They charge you unheard of points, and they write it down as in dollar amount like 1111.00, so you assume it is dollar amount. They tell you your fico score is to low to justify there crazy rates. They never provide you with the application you filled out, because they change the income so you could get the loan.

They are thieves, they go after poor people that need the help. They should be put out of business. There should be a class action lawsuit against this company. There contracts are misleading, you have to hire an attorney to understand it.

While my mother was in and out of the hospital, someone fraudently applied for an auto loan on my mother's cadillac. My mother died in 2017, and as the executor of her estate, found out that One Main had a lien against her car. I called them and made them aware that it couldn't have been my mother who borrowered the money, as she was in the hospital or rehabilition center.

They reserached and determined that the application was taken online, and that the person who scammed them, had someone pretend to be my mother when they went to collect the funds from the loan. They are aware of the identity theft, yet continue to have a lien on her auto. In my opinion, they are just as guilty as the person who pretended to be my mother.

SHAME ON YOU ONE MAIN FINANCIAL. YOU KNOW THAT YOU WERE SCAMMED, AND YET, STILL HAVE AN ILLEGAL LIEN AGAINST MY MOTHER'S AUTO.

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY.

OneMain sent me a letter saying I was guaranteed a loan amount of $7,100.00, to be used how I wanted to use it. I applied and was told their offer was to refinance my car at an 18.5% rate, and get about $2,000.00 cash. I told them this was ridiculous and that their offer was very misleading. My current rate on my auto loan is around 6%. Now I have a waste-of-time credit pull on my credit bureau. STAY AWAY from these deceptive rats.

This company contacted me during a very hard financial time for me and guranteed that my credit score and credit history would not effect me obtaining a loan with them. I do not handle stress well and with my debt causing emotional havack I accepted an offer from them. When everything was finalized I realized that I would be paying back double the amount I was borrowing however I had already signed the contract so unfortunately for me I was obligating to comply with the terms. After 2.5 years of making my regular payments I found myself in yet another financial struggle. I contacted them to advise them of my hardships and ask to have my payments reduced and extend the term; what I was told was that I would have to reapply for an additional $500 before they could reduce my payment amount. It made no sense to me to borrow additional funds when I was already struggling to pay the balance I already owed so I told them "no" however they submitted the application anything which was denied because I had too much debt, duh. I made a lump sum payment after this (and by the way all of my payments have gone to interest not to the principal) now i'm in a situation where I am unable to make the payments and they call everyday, multiple times a day. I have blocked their number because on numerous occassions I have told them not to call me and to forward all communications via direct mail but now they call from cell phones, land lines any number that isn't associated with the company directly and leave messages. Please for GOD's sake do not be fooled my these Predatory lenders; I wouldn't wish this type of harrssment on anyone.

I had some one use my name, SSN, & DOB to get a loan and were denied. I have been working really hard on getting my credit up to get a house, so I have been checking my credit every week on Credit Karma. Last week I checked my credit and saw that I had a hard copy check on my credit. So I checked it out and found out that Onemain Financial had ran my credit on a loan that I never applied for.

When I called their office they stated they couldn't help me and transfered me to a 1800 number. I spoke with someone 1-800 number that hung up on me, so I called again and they listen to me and then hung-up again. I called again and soneone transfered me to a 1-888 number and they stated they couldn't help me and that I will need to call the office again because they don't handle fraud in that department. I have been given the run arounds for days.

I have been calling the company for 3 days now and they informed me that they will have a manager call me back and I have not received anything yet. I know I have been a victim of fraud and Onemain Financial is making me feel like if it is my fault and I don't believe I deserve being treated this way. It really bothers me what if I wouldn't have checked my credit report I may have not even known anything.

I have already faxed over a dispute to Equifax and will be making a police report tomorrow. I am also sending a letter to the Attorney General about Onemain Financial and their practice.

Received a letter of denial for a loan application for $9,999.00. I did not apply for any loan. I feel this a scam to get you to call the phone number listed where they may trick you for your information and then try to get you a loan or sell your personal info. It also listed my credit score from TransUnion and already feel that they are using my information without my approval. Do not do business with an organization that has a process like this.
