Bought a refrigerator from a overstock place near my town. They went threw Okinus and I had to fill out a form on there computer. The form asked how much would I be willing to pay for the 90 days same as cash payment. I said $150 to pay off $450 for the fridge. Well by the 90th day I wasn't paid off and realized that they were only charging me $122.10. This payment would put me out of the pay same as cash 90 day period. I called and they said they would call me back and I never heard from them. Then they took another payment out of my checking account then I called again and they said they would have to call me back nobody is in right now. Then when they took out the fifth payment I called and wouldn't let them hang up on me. They told me they couldn't do anything about it because I signed a contract. So Okinus owes me almost $300 and I haven't seen a cent. Do not use this financial company they are scammers and they will take your money!!!

YOUR COMPLAINT

I am continually getting threatening phone calls and emails from a company Okinus (the named herein). I went into a furniture store in my local area in January 2018, and made a purchase for less than $3000 for a washer, dryer and a refrigerator to which I was approved to pay this out in 90 days via Okinus or pay over a period of 24 months. I was told that I had 90 days to pay the discounted price $3000 even, if not able to pay off in 90 days I would be given 24 months. To date, I have paid well over $4000 and they are still trying to collect over $2500 in the way of extortion and threatening emails and phone calls. Today after I contacted Okinus to try and settle this account, I received an email to which the representative lied and stated, "she called me", when in fact that was false, I am the one that called Okinus and extended my hand out to try and come to some kind of settlement for this account so they will STOP harassing me trying to collect more money on an account that originated at $3000. Included in the email the representative threatens me with turning my account over to their legal team as well as make preparations to pick up the merchandise in addition to garnishing my wages for merchandise that I have already paid well over $4000. The amount should not change from the original amount of $3000. I understand the interest but this is ridiculous, I am being charged over 90% more since I chose the option to pay this account out over 24 month period. This is EXTORTION!!!!! They have already collected well over $4000 for the exact same equipment that was $3000 over 18 months ago. RUN!!! Do not do business with this extortion framework of a company.

I purchased furniture in 4/2013 from a furniture company here in Houston. It was a 3 room deal with a 90 day payoff well a few weeks after purchase things started breaking bed support boards broke and I'm 215lbs and my wife is barely 140lbs whole front of a drawer came off when my wife went to open it and one of the beams on the couch snapped. So my wife and I went to the furniture company where we brought it from they told us they were no longer liable for it we have to contact okinus and they can further help me well I did that couldn't get any feedback. So in 2014 I called my

bank and had them stop payments that got their attention that's when the phone calls started coming and I explained to them several times the furniture is broken and I refuse to pay for broken furniture and if they were willing to either repair or replace I'll gladly continue to keep paying for it but they insisted that I make payments or they can come pick it up so since they wasn't being cooperative I told them to them to come pick it up.

They said they would make arrangements to pick it up and no one never came then I started receiving emails from senior manager Lacey Hayes

and I told her as well I instructed someone to come pick the furniture up I had put it in the garage because I had no use for broken furniture. Her reply was she had no knowledge that the furniture was broken and besides I had a 90 day payoff as if to say oh well so I told her once again come pick it up after that the phone calls as well as emails stopped and when I moved I threw it out I had no use for it and they never made a attempt to pick it up and I moved in 2016 and they been on my credit ever since same furniture they charged me a arm and a leg for my wife and I saw at

another furniture store and the sectional was $300 bedroom set was $500 not including mattresses and the same bunk bed we had for our kids I found at Wal-Mart for $200 but I have a balance for almost 3 grand sitting on my credit here it is 2018 and still nothing was resolved they are ripoffs and I strongly advise nobody to finance anything thru these people they are rude they don't care about the merchandise being finance only their money I wish I had a way to upload the photos so you'll could see the merchandise they wanted me to pay for they knew they was wrong that's why they never came and picked that furniture up

I purchased furniture at a local store and I was suggestively sold a financing option with Okinus. It was 90 days same as cash. The problem was if you go beyond 90 days the interest was twice the original purchase amount. For example $3,000 worth of furniture would cost over $8,000 if loan goes full term.

There was also a clause about early payoff with a minimum of 66% of the total cost to payoff early. I called when I had payed double what the original purchase amount was and they told me I owed another $2,200.

After reading all the complaints and consumer reports where others had complained I had decided I could tell them to come get the used recliners and mattress and I could put the $2,200 to use on new furniture.

Fortunately, my call was answered by Laurie. She was very polite and helpful. I was able to reach a settlement with Okinus to satisfy the contract and keep the furniture. We executed a new contract and I am satisfied with the outcome.

I am not upset with Okinus because they have a business model that has a ridiculous amount of interest. I am upset with the furniture store that pushed this service and didn't disclose the nature or full amount that I would owe. Read the fine print before you sign and make sure there is full disclosure of what you will be expected to pay.

In reaching the settlement I will not be able to do business with Okinus again. Not something I would do again, or in the first place if I had known what I was getting involved with. Customer service was great. Just not a product that most consumers would choose if they had all of the facts.
