Avoid ProMerchant and North American Bancard

  • Jan 21, 2022

I had 2 merchant accounts with National Bankard, a subsidiary of North American Bancard; they told me I had to hve 2 accounts because on account was for product sales and the other was for ticket sales, participant entry fees, ad sales, etc. for events I hold. I closed the accounts in September 2021 becasue I hadn't processes any credit card transaction and was still paying $30 per month on each account. I mailed the card processors back to them and owed no money; account was closed prior to next montly charges.

Today, January 22, 2022, I received an email from North American Bancard, stating I was deliquent $134 on one of the merchant accounts and said my card processing services would be interupted if I didn't pay. Now how can I owe money and they threaten to interupt my services, when the account was closed over 5 months ago. If I owed funds from the closed acccount, which I didn't, why is this the first time I was notified of this? I receive no prior emails, no letters, and no phone calls prior to the email received today. They are trying scam me into paying something I do not owe.

I have seen similar and worst complaints North American Bancard, also doing business as National Bank Card and Payments Hub online. The BBB also gives them an A+ rating and they are an Accredited Member of the BBB. How can that be with all the complaints these small business owners have made against them?

A big beware...do not open a merchant account with this company!

North American Bancard - President Marc Gardner - Randy Lobban - Mark Moran - Brian Baby - Paralee Robinson - Jessica Robinson.

ATTN: ISO AGENTS - Please don't sign up as AGENTS for this company. After working for them for almost 2 years and building up there merchant accounts, they took away my RESIDUALS. In the last year, I had three (3) ISO REPS. Paralee Robinson, Jessica Robinson, and Brian Baby. They all had there different policies. One tells you one thing and the other tells you something else. Nothing was ever put into writing for there new policies.

I have all documentation, letters, and signatures from all merchants stated that North American Bancard did not follow there own policies in regards of 45 days rule, contract term, and minimum fees per month.

I want to know how many other ISO AGENTS that have worked for them or presently working for them to let me know there situation. I know for a fact, that this has happen to other agents that have been wrongfully terminated of RESIDUALS.

My wife and I joined North American Bancard because they were associated with a lending group for small business. Please keep in mind that I have been in this business with merchant processing for over 13 years and the company was processing an additional 5 years before I bought it. In addition, my wife and I have had other small business which processed with no issues for 30 years.

Our issue starts during the month of December of 2017. We had a customer who used her card to make a purchase. After talking to her children that evening, she realized that the kids had bought the same item for there father. This was a large ticket item of about $ 2,600.00. The following day, the customer requested a refund which I was more than happy to do as they were great customers. My bank balance was just a small amount short to cover the credit card return and the item was processed back to NAB. NAB at that point put my account on hold and started holding every depoit that I sent through there processing. The following day, there was plenty enough money to cover the $ 2,600.00 return owed to NAB without involving my bank or any one else. NAB was in posession pf plenty of funds to cover themselves. NAB did not handle the transaction that way. They continued to hold all of my depostis for an additional two and one half weeks allowing them to hold all deposits through the entire month of December and one full week into the month of January. We had deposited enough with NAB to cover them for roughly $ 8,000.00 or over three times the amount owed to them.

Around the 6th of January, NAB took the amout that they deturmined we owed them and released the rest of the fund to our account. We were all paoid.

A month and a half later, well into Febuary; NAB started indicating we still owed them money. I attempted to porve to them were we were clear and I owed them nothing. They realseased our account apperatly feeling they were all paid. Regardless, after one and a half months of being all paid and three weeks of them holding all of our deposits, NAB took more money from my bank account. Now, we have over paid in a huge way.

I want to add two additinal areas of information which seams to make this situation even more wrong. First, while NAB had my bank account locked up and was holding all of my funds, they were also reaching out to my local bank trying to pull funds on an account which they NAB had locked up and was not allowing any money to pass through. This process was costing our business large sums of money with our local bank. In other words, NAB was attempting to double dip so to speak to clear there position. FOr heavens sake, a month and a week did not allow them enough time to figure this out. They were protected by a multiplyer of almost 3.5 times.

Another odd process that seams to make absolutly no sense, every time they attempt to say that we owe them more money, They lock our bank portal down at NAB not allowing access to any information. CRIMINAL as H#$L. really !! Are you trying tell me that anytime someone is a little short at the bank, the bank can leagelly shut there information down and restrict access. Your insurance company starts denying access to your information the minute they are required to start paying claims. Even your federal and state govrements do not perticpate in such an odd business process.. I don't even know what to think.

I understand that my humble opention is going to be diffrent from any information that NAB provides. With that said, I can almost see an atterny making a full career from this group at some point with the class action process that might manifest its self. When you look the the reviews on this group, there is no way you are not going to find issues.

My employer was denied service by North American Bancard after receiving credit card services for 10 years through them. In the email from NAB, it was stated that they prohibit doing business with firearms sales, even after 10 years of providing a service to the same. They will however offer a HIGHER interest sister company up to provide the same service. This is an obvious case of discrimination for providing a service protected by the 2nd amendment of the constituion. This is no different than the recent controversey regarding denying service to gays and lesbians for the orientation. This is an outrage and un American.

Firearms are high risk with all merchant service providers now!

Stop whining and good luck.

Sometime in 2012-13 a salesman came to my business wanting to sell me a new merchant processing machine. Although I have always been very happy with the processor I used he convinced me I was throwing away money because North American Bancard would charge less than the 2.75% transaction fee I pay for my current processer.

A couple of weeks later he showed up with a machine which did not work. I did not have a phone line and used my cell phone to do my transactions. He sent it back and brought another machine...it also did not work. Then I was charged for 2 accounts. The salesman "fixed things" but I found myself being charged all sorts of fees, monthly fees, fee for not charging the minimum, I can't even remember what all I was charged. The salesman cancelled my contracts because their product was useless to me and I continued with my origional processer. Still they kept trying to steal my money. I closed my bank account. The salesman personally refunded the money that was stolen and assured me the nightmare was over.

Now, in 2016 I receive a letter from a collection agency saying these crooks are trying to get another $716.80 from me. For early termination fees, statement fees, reject fees, negative balances and/or chargebacks.

There are 69 complaints here, now 70, all for the same BS. Why haven't they been shut down? They are crooks plain and simple. I was angry at the salesman for a long time until I realized he too is a victim. I stopped even speaking with anyone who wants me to change processers.

Tim Lane approached our company for credit card processing and also promised to float out company for a small business loan. Tim was a fast talker and seamed to be a nice guy. Little did we know that this whole credit card processing company was a scam.

We were in a contract for 5 years. We were leasing the credit card machine from1 company and had to pay a penality of $750.00 to return the machine. Now today I received a notice that $850.00 was withdrawn from our bank account from his company for not returning the machine to him.

I called my bank today to stop the transfer of the money to his account. I think that his company will try and fight this "stop Payment" I thought we were finally over with this lowlife scam artist.

I just noticed a charge of $3.99 that was withdrawn via ach from my checking account by Global Payments. A small amount to be sure, but still, it's my money. I called by bank to find out about this charge, and together we called Global Payments. Global Payments said they withdrew the money on behalf of their customer, North American Bancard. My bank and I have now been on hold with North American Bancard for over 20 minutes, and all we've accomplished is listening to awful music. When someone finally picked up the phone, they said they had to transfer me to PayAnywhere. It turns out I obtained a mobile card reader from PayAnywhere about 3 years ago to accept credit cards, but I have never accepted any credit card transactions and never even took the card reader out of its box. So PayAnywhere decided to terminate my account, which was fine with me, and they charged me $3.99 for the privilege of terminating my account. They have refused to refund my money, so now I have had to file a protest with my bank to get the charge reversed. Again, the amount is small, but this same company is probably scamming millions of people with the same unauthorized fees hoping no one will take the time to fight these fees since their time spent fighting the fee is undoubtedly more valuable than the amount of the fee being contested.

I was approached at my business by a husband and wife (Frank and Kathryn Self) that represented North American Bancard and they wanted to do a comparison of my credit card processing rates to see if they could get me better rates than my current credit card processing company (Merchant's Choice).

After running their analysis, the agent (Frank Self) told me that he could beat my rates by 12%. I told him that I was willing to change companies as long as it didn't cost me anything. I didn't even want a new credit card machine. He assured me that it wouldn't cost me anything to switch over and that he would even GIVE me a new credit card machine that accepted the new chip cards. I asked him if I needed to call Merchant's Choice to let them know I was switching, and he said no, that it would all just happen automatically when he programmed the new machine and that he would write them a letter.

Everything got switched over and I began processing through NA Bancard. At the end of September I realized Merchant's Choice billed me my annual and monthly fees. When I called them to see why, as I wasn't processing with them anymore, they informed me that I have a contract with them through 2018 and that there is a $495 cancellation fee. They told me that the agent (Frank Self) had called on Sept. 15th and tried to cancel my account and was told that I (the merchant) would have to cancel the account myself. Frank Self never told me that he couldn't cancel the account and I had no idea that I wouldn't be able to cancel it without paying a huge fee.

I called Frank Self and he assured me that he would just get NA Bancard to release me from my contract, as that would be the easiest resolution. After not hearing from Mr. Self, I called him and he told me that he was still working on it and that he just wanted the situation to "go away."

I have spoken to a couple of people at NA Bancard to try to get this figured out, and so far I have just been told that they will research it and get back to me (which they have not). I was also told that the agent (Frank Self) was the one that needed to help me get this figured out.

I have not been able to contact Mr. Self, as his original phone number was disconnected and his new phone number goes straight to voicemail and then has either a disabled or full mailbox. Today when I called him and told him who I was, he said "hello? hello?" like he couldn't hear me. I can contact his wife (Kathryn Self) via gmail, but only get emails back saying that they are trying to figure it out.

This whole situation has been INCREDIBLY sketchy and I'm mad at myself for even getting myself into this situation. I cannot get a hold of ANY of the people that are supposed to be helping me get this resolved and it is costing my business money every day.

Frank Self has made himself completely unavailable and has left me high and dry with a huge mess to clean up. Frank and Kathryn Self deceptively got me to switch credit card processing companies and have since "disappeared". I am actually very, very concerned that they have my private information (SS#, etc) from my application.
