Mr. Transmission Reviews

  • May 4, 2018

This has been a terrible experience, I will not recommend this place to anyone.... beware... this is my unfortunate experience after driving into the area with my family on vacation then having issues with my transmission slipping , I was told about Marlon and his shop as a potential place for repair....when my Cadillac Escalade was dropped off by tow truck moments later I over heard the owner Marlon speaking to one of his workers even on phone with his brother in back office about what they can make off this job. Then moments later I was told I needed a new transmission the one I had in my "new” truck was no good at all. Me Having limited knowledge of transmissions and being with my family of 6 & just tired from travel. I agreed to allow his shop to fix my truck especially when he told me he was a Christian. Then moments later I was told it couldn’t be re built. then the owner quoted a price of over $3,000 for a rebuilt transmission off someone else truck he had in the back or $5,000 for a new transmission, I agreed to a rebuilt transmission of $3,600 since I was on vacation and that is a good amount our money to spend for a last minute issue.

Then upon my arrival to retrieve my truck I was told they went ahead and put a new transmission in instead and the cost would be now be $5,000 but they will hold the tax and total would only be $4,600... it was like a bait and switch!!! and on top of that still seem to be have issues with transmission in gears 2&3 slipping occasionally. I willingly paid the owner Marlon $3,210 cash in hand when other payment options didn’t work out. The owner agreed to work with me on remainder amount how ever when he looked me up and seen my financial position the owner Marlon and others on his staff or family (I’m not sure) started sending harassing calls calling me out of my name especially when he found out I was a Christian pastor, posting very egregious things and texting me throughout the night and day for multiple days on end from 3 different phone numbers threatening me if I didn’t give more money he would take further actions only to have him continue to stalk me, and post negative things online about me and the remaining balance on my social media ... all because I found out what he did with the bait and switch .

It’s been one big headache and I’m still stuck with a overpaid transmission I’ve paid $4,600 for. So if you have the time and like the drama and want to over pay come here. If not beware..... we are currently pursuing legal action on top of paying him the balance to make all this stop.......Wow and to think I paid this guy $3,210 in cash in good character immediately just to do what is right .... I wonder what would have happened if I didn’t pay him all.... he and others still call my phone almost daily even after I’ve been paying him the remaining balance, and even threatened to put something disparaging In my city newspaper to excoriate my character even further...wow what business man does that ... deal with him at your on risk....scary!!! We are praying for him and his family in-spite of all this, I think he really needs it. Just beware! And be careful.

Two years ago (2015) I took my aunt's 2012 Ford Focus to Mr. Transmission to get the transmission fixed (I am my aunt's caretaker). Mike May was a very charming and receptive host and told us that the transmission needed to be rebuilt. He told us he could do the job and would give us an estimate once he found the parts he needed.

We gave him the green light to go ahead with the repairs because we had no other option. Everytime he said the car would be ready, he would add another day or two to the ready-date, saying more work needed to be done. He did this three times, and after sensing how irate we were, agreed to pay the cost of the rental we were using in the interim.

Once we got the car back, it was shaking really badly and the engine was making much more noise than usual. I took it back to him and he said he would fix it. Once I got it back the engine was running much better. He charged $3918 and said it would be covered for 3 years under warranty as long as we got the yearly transmission service, which we did in 2016.

Fast forward to 2017 and this October on our way to Atlanta, the transmission and engine light come on. I take it to the Ford delearship to see what is going on. They said they would look at it and gave us a rental while they examined the car. Once they finished, they said Mr. Transmission essentially did not rebuild the transmission but put a junk yard transmission in the car and also put in the wrong transmission fluid (the guy speaking, who I shall call "James", the mechanic who worked on the car, told us this on the condition he remained anonymous, he said he knows Mike personally). James also said that our local Mr. Transmission does not know how to rebuild transmissions for the Ford Focus or Fiesta and that Mike has tried to get him to come and work for him , partly for this reason. He also said the transmission was not properly installed and the clutch was not replaced and basically we had been fleeced for a junk transmission. We are obvisouly furious because these repairs cost another $2800 dollars (a warranty is included with these repairs).

We thought Mr. Transmission being a brand name would do a great job, but we found out that Mike is a smooth talked but to be frank is full of it. I am still furious and shall continue to weigh our options.

do not use Mr. Transmission in Columbus, Georgia. It is a waste of money and time.

Stay away from Antoine location in Houston, Texas!

They had my daughters car for 13 weeks! They made her prepay to take the car.

It was a run around for 13 weeks. Lie after lie after lie.

Today we sat in the shop for 4 hrs. We were not leaving until we got the car. We were not the only hot customers demanding their car either. One was an HPD officer. They are also operating under 2 names. They owners phone was not working.

I have never experienced liars like this group. It is a family run business. Father, son and his wife. Con artist. They use a cell phone, no business line in the place. The son was dropping F bombs at me! They do not have any capital to buy parts or basics. We had to go out to buy their parts. They collected her money in advance too.

I rate them an F-! Next morning car not running!

Long story short, the bad reviews are real. Do your homework and go to another company. Cost me 3300.00 for a car they worked on that i had to get fixed at another shop because they would not give me a warrantee. The owner has a history of using strong arm tactics to make more money for his buisness. They are not corporate so do not think you can report them when things go wrong. Held my car for 3 weeks saying it would take 3 days. Charged me double up front and tried to have me get more work done so I could get a warrantee they had already promised 2 times. I paid for for work and the still would not give me a warantee. After telling them my Attourney was involved threatened me to cancel my transactions with CC already charged and pay him Cash or I would not get my car. I showed up signed the paper and took my car. They called the cops and lied saying I never paid and a police report was filed for theft of services. I showed the cops my receipts. They said if I dispute charges I would be arrested. Simple Air boot problem fixed my car. Cost 0.00 from another transmission shop not another 1400.00 People should know the truth. Parts missing from my car. loose connections as well has protective covers. Do not go to Mr. Transmission off Cobb Parkway!!

Mr. May nearly gutted my truck out as it sat in his lot due to my estranged husband not paying the repair costs in November 2015. I learned that my vehicle was in his lot in May 2016 and called him to negotiate paying the debt to retrieve my vehicle--as I am the owner of the vehicle. Initially Mr. May argued that he has a corporate attorney and that I needed to speak with him for any type of resolve, yet there was no evidence of said attorney and so I had simply given up on the idea of retrieving my vehicle. He called me back 2 weeks later for monetary gain and mentioned it was $4500 to retrieve the vehicle. I mentioned that I took no part in the vehicle being stored there so he said he would "see what he can do". He called me back the following day and went down to $2610.80. I agreed to pay under the conditions that the vehicle was in good driving standard, as I live 2 hours north in McDonough Ga and that's a safety hazard if not. He assured me that my vehicle was safe and ready to go.

I commuted with my fiance to pick up the vehicle and Mr. May wanted all of the money in cash, which was very strange to me. I don't carry $2610.80 in my pocket on a daily basis. Anyhow, his "secretary" or whomever he identifies her as gives us this plain warranty document wiht no itemized repair products that were used on the vehicle. We definitely requested this descriptive paperwork prior to going down there and we are very business-oriented people. When I was driving off the lot my SES light came on and I brought this to their attention in the shop and Mr. May had one of his workers to use the car diagnostic machine to access the coding read. There was a code of an O2 sensor. I mentioned why is that an issue since I paid so much money prior to pick up and he should have known any sort of issues and reported to me prior to driving off the lot. Then Mr. May informed me that this issue was not a part of engine work that they did. I simply prayed and drove home with issues making right turns, as my steering would nearly lock up when turning right, amongst issues with the tires while driving.

Upon my getting the vehicle home is when I learned that whatever work that Mr. May has actually done was definitely not effective in getting this vehicle back up and running efficiently again. Mr Mays blamed my estranged husband for nearly gutting out the truck, however that his highly not likely because I had seen the truck prior to him taking it to that shop in November 2015 and I had just purchased new tires for it one year earlier in Fayetteville Ga. Not to mention someone had been driving my truck, as there were St. Patrick's Day necklaces on the rearview mirror--simply weird stuff. My lights in the truck were dangling for dear life and my entire driver's side door was stolen and replaced with an older model door of the same color. I had only learned this when I had attempted to obtain an emission's test and the conductor mentioned my VIN on the door panel was different from the dashboard. I have NEVER switched out my door panel and it was in good operating condition. This new door had MAJOR defects. Also, my truck hitch was stolen, all 4 of my tires were definity and they were stolen as well. My spare tire under the truck was stolen also, along with a host of other issues that I am noticing more and more as the months past. This is truly ridiculous and this man should be in jail or prison for how he rips honest paing consumers off.
