Mr Kool Man Air Conditioning and Heating Reviews

  • Aug 8, 2015

422 Davinci Pass, Kissimmee, FL 34759, September 30, 2014

Air conditioner installers of Mr. Kool Man in Mulberry, Florida under contract to landlord Carrs created a fire situation whereby smoke alarms went off and carbon monoxide alarm went off. Fumes and smoke came through vents into the hallway and small bedroom. When the alarms sounded, I went outside to get the installers. The young worker came in to investigate. He went back outside and then into the garage. He was yelling at the older worker about the smoke and fumes. I went into the garage from the inside garage door. The older worker was ranting. I heard the young man tell the older worker, “You’re burning i! You're burning it! You’ve gotta stop!”

The older worker screamed something in a language I did not understand and kept on. I opened all of the windows. I put all of the fans on.

I went outside to catch my breath. When I came back in, everything was turned off. The older worker turned off the circuit breaker in order to get the alarms to stop sounding. I put my portable fan in my bedroom as well where there were the strongest fumes. I called the landlord. Landlord Melvin answered. He told me to open the windows and hung up to go back to his nap. I went outside on the back porch to sit. My eyes were burning; my lips and nose were burning. I took my dog with me. It started to rain.

My daughters came home to see what was transpiring. When the rain stopped, I went outside to the car, which landlord Melvin had instructed us to park across the street in the neighbor’s driveway today. When I was retrieving some of the groceries from the car, I noticed there was a box of my valuables (for eBay submission -- collectible magazines and vintage and antique paper ephemera) outside of the garage. The workers had moved the box outside the garage without my knowing or permission and had left it outside in the driveway when it was raining. I brought the box inside. I pulled the wet items from the wet box and was placing them on the floor in the front room to assess the damage and to dry out. The ceiling fan was on from the fumes.

I moved the portable fan to the front room to dry the damaged items. I called the landlord again. I told him that items were moved and they were damaged and asked him to come over due to the extreme mess and destruction in his property caused by his contractors. He finally did come over. Landlord Melvin Carr told me that the fire was caused by the workers “who had burned plywood and some PVC.” My daughter took me to the emergency room of the hospital because I became light-headed and the burning around my lips and eyes was worse. I came back from the emergency room. My daughters took photographs of the garage and some of the items that were damaged by the installers that were strewn on the living room floor to dry out. I asked landlords to contact the technician in charge.

Melvin Caquias of Mr. Kool Man Air Conditioning and Heating finally arrived on the scene. Melvin Caquias’s demeanor was abrupt and rude, including, but not limited to, persistent provocation to sue him, unsavory and sexist comments to my daughter. Landlord threatened me on September 30, 2014 to not do anything to him. We have tried repeatedly to contact Melvin Caquias via telephone calls only to be sworn at and hung up on by Melvin Caquias. Eric Caquias has ignored all requests for payment of my hospital bills and damage to items caused by Mr. Kool Man employees.
