Short synopsis: Don't come here! Dr. Howell will talk you into getting painful and expensive procedures that aren't necessary at the current moment which you may need down the road, but not immediately in order to get your insurance money. Also if he messes up your mouth during a procedure he wont own up to it and you or your insurance will be responciple for fixing it. Hello, my name is James Wilson. I have been a patient of Dr. Howell's for a few weeks now. On my first trip to see him I had a tooth on the top left of my mouth that was hurting. He extracted that tooth and managed to talk me into getting a root canal done on the tooth that was next to it by saying "the pain may be coming from a combination of both teeth." Anyways, the pain wasn't coming from that tooth, but ultimately the tooth was gonna need a root canal sooner or later so I went threw with it anyway. He gave me an antibiotic and pain meds including narcos and ibuprofen which kinda worked, but they ran out way before the pain stopped..I made a second trip to his office after they ran out and they at least continued the ibuprofen that they gave me. On my third trip they were gonna put on the crown on for the tooth that they had prioviusly done a root canal on. It fit ok, but the bite was a little off. However, this time I had a tooth on the top right of my mouth that I had chipped between my last visit to see him and this visit. The tooth was hurting and needed to be extracted which he did, but he also talked me into getting another tooth on my top right extracted too..although, it wasn't hurting and I had never had any problems out of it. He said "while I've got that side numb, I'd like to go ahead and do as much work as possible in that area". He also said that the tooth was barely being held on inside of my mouth.

Once again, he talked me into getting more work done than I had previously intended on getting done prior to my visit with him. This time he only gave me 2/3 the amount of narcos as last time and ibuprofen with no antibiotic. I dont really understand that since this time I technically had a more painful procedure done than last time, but he said that was all he could do for me this time. Also, get this..he mentioned to me that the tooth that's between the two teeth which he extracted was broken while I was there, but I assumed he had ment that it had a pre-existing cavity or something of that nature. Once I got home and the numbing wore off, I realized that he actually broke the filling off of the tooth during the extraction process of the tooth next to it. Thus leaving me with half a tooth. Once I found this out I called his office and said "so he's gonna fix this right..because he's the reason that the tooth is broke?" They made me an appointment and I drove all the way to his office just for him to say, "the only two options that we have are doing a root canal on it, or extracting it." I said, "you mean you cant just put the filling around it like it was before I saw you?" He said "no..and that there wasn't enough tooth left for him to do that." Oh and also, since I had signed a consent form prior to the procedure..I'm actually responsible for the tooth that he broke. I'm sorry but WTF?? He should own up to his mistake and fix it free of charge.

Right? Well no, and it turns out that my insurance has been exhausted from getting the pricy root canal and the extra extraction that he talked me into. So if my half tooth starts hurting between now and January when my insurace renews then I have to pay him $108 to get it extracted. Its now a day after the procedure and my mouth is killing me even with the meds that he gave me..I'm dreading running out of the pain meds which is gonna happen even earlier than it did after my last procedure since he gave me less pills than last time. Also by the looks of it now with it all cracked open..the tooth that he messed up is eventually gonna abscess and I'm gonna be out even more money thanks to Mortenson Family Dental. Do you teeth a favor..DONT COME HERE! YOUR MOUTH AND YOUR WALLET WILL THANK YOU LATER!

I am a healthy 29 year old who's been going to regular dental appoinments all my life. I made a first appointment for a teeth cleaning with Mortenson Family Dental. After I walked in, filled out new patient paperwork and was called for my appointment, the dental hygenist informed me I had to get x-rays before we could continue. I agreed to this and had four x-rays taken. Then I was seen by the doctor for about five minutes before the hygenist and doctor both left the room. Next, the billing assoicate came in with a list of deep cleaning procedures they were recommending totaling a cost of $900. I refused to consent to that service and asked the doctor if I could get a regular teeth cleaning as I have been getting all my life. The doctor said that we had to do the deep cleaning or no cleaning at all. I felt extremley uncomfortable after that and said I was going to get a second opinion and go elsewhere. They then proceeded to charge me for the office visit and billed my insurance for the x-rays without providing any service to me. I would not have consented to any service had I known they were not going to provide a teeth cleaning that day. Overall, I felt they purposely tried to oversell me on services and their mannerisms boarded on bullying and intimidation.
