Meridian Motor Sports LLC Reviews

Complaint: My car was brought in to repair a single gas leak which leaked when the car was filled up. I was told by the co owner, that "since the car is 47 yrs. old, & the gas tank must be dropped anyway, you should replace the filler neck, all hoses, gas cap and the gas tank [because the owner said it might have rust or a hole in it, which it did not] I agreed, but emphasized that I wanted the gas leaked fixed. I received my car back and the gas leak was not fixed, and was exactly like it was prior to bringing the car in. The same leak was not noticed immediately because I do not drive my classic car in the winter months. It was however immediately noticed when I began driving it in early February and filled it up with gas. The gasoline smell was so strong that my garage had to opened up and aired out with a visible large stain of leaking gas on the garage floor. The repair shop then examined the same gas leak on March 4, 2015 and said that they would waive the labor fee to fix the original gas leak, but I would have to pay another $90.00 for a sending unit part. When I questioned how the owner would now know it is indeed the sending unit, he replied, 'well that is the only thing left to fix that hasn't been REPLACED". I would be pretty ignorant to continue to give money to the shop after being treated the way I have been and spending the amount of money that I have already spent .. This shop shop used "repair by replacement" or "repair by guessing" to attempt to fix the gas leak. I still have the leak and they have $497.33 by selling me everything new because" the car is old anyway, as the owner said".

I do not trust this shop, nor do I have any confidence in them. I also do not feel safe in leaving my vintage car there with them. At this point there are bad feelings for all concerned. My desired outcome would be for us to part ways; refund me, and I will take the money and get my gas leak fixed at an automotive repair shop that I trust, and have confidence in their integrity. Motor Mayhem is not that shop.

The owners of Motor Mayhem who are ASE certified mechanics and have 40 years combined experience, are terribly confused on several levels. They have responded to my complaint referring to a DIFFERENT car repair done with them involving my new carburetor, manifold and electric ignition. My BBB complaint was ONLY about the FUEL LEAK, new gasoline tank, hoses and cap and nothing more. I clearly stated that so they obviously did not carefully read the complaint as evidenced by their odd reply. It is such a desperate attempt to discredit me by that they have resorted to blatant lies and fabrications about me ever speaking with them about other auto repair shop dealings. I never shared any other business dealings with them because I had no reason to. It is truly unbelievable what they have done to pad and embellish their story and further shows their lack of integrity. The owners do not know if I drive my car in the winter months because they do not live in my home, so they are once again not speaking the truth. I DID drive the car to their shop in the winter to follow up on a job not done right, because if I had waited, they would then tell me the time line limit was too late for them to fix the job they didn’t get done right. This shop has accused me of being "cheap" and "watching my budget". That is actually comical because we have spent THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS with the shop and that is not exactly being "cheap." This shop caters to a young, impressionable cliental with hot rods in awe of their Dyno Tune, but they treated this female senior citizen as stupid and uneducated on car repairs. Their assorted tactics of two men intimidating me sorely failed. One of the owners told my husband once that "my customers throw their keys and a blank check at me and let me do what I want".

I, however, do not do business that way and I expect to get an accurate quote and a guarantee in WRITING, and this shop does not do either, so beware potential customers. I learned too late. Since it is all verbal [the parts & labor guarantee], they can change anything at anytime, and they DO . The owners handwriting is completely illegible, so it is a good idea to request a computer generated copy so you can actually read what you are being charged for. I was never told their hourly labor fee and it is not posted, or shown on their invoices, so request it is stated on your invoice. I strongly urge potential customers to get EVERYTHING in writing; don't assume anything with this shop! One of the owners was such a hot head [rude, nasty, arrogant etc.] in dealing with me that his partner had to take over and mop up the other owners shoddy work on my car. You can spend big money with them but once your car is given back to you, they will start charging you all over again if the job wasn't done right. I find it interesting that Motor Mayhem's reply does not address the core issue; I paid $499.33 for a fuel leak repair, replace the gas tank, and hoses but I still have the fuel leak. They want MORE money and they do not positively know that a new sending unit will fix anything. The State Attorney has a permanent record of this dispute as well, and it shows the business failed to make things right with me and failed to do anything at all. This complaint will be posted on the BBB site on- line so potential customers can read and be cautioned prior to making a decision to do business with them. Bottom line; Motor Mayhem’s owners have done nothing to remedy this situation except ask for MORE money to fix the fuel leak which I have already paid $499.33 for. I have not been contacted by the owners since my BBB and Staste Attorney General complaints have been filed, which is further proof that they do not plan on resolving this with customer satisfaction in mind. Just because an auto repair shop proudly displays their BBB accreditation, are ASE mechanics, and have 40 yrs. experience does not guarantee the business is honest and operates with integrity. Motor Mayhem does not and has not. I would never ever want anyone to go through what I have and be $497.33 out of pocket and still have the exact same problem I originally came in for. I was ripped off!
