Medical Alert Reviews

My 83 year old mother received two invoices in October (2 weeks apart) from this company saying her account is past due and she should call and make arrangements to pay $359.50. But she quit using the device and I sent it back almost 3 years ago.

We had recieved a similar bill about 6 months or so after we stopped the service. I called them and they realized it was a mistake and cleared the account. So why send another invoice over 2 years later... because I believe that Medical Alert prays on senior citizens and hopes that they pay bogus invoices.

So do not use this company ! ! !

When my elderly mother was living at home we set up a MedicalAlert system for her. Then we moved her into an assisted living facility. I gave them my charge card to bill each three months. The problems started when I cancelled the service and returned the equipment. As an Attorney, I know to always have proof of delivery. They first called and told me they never received the equipment and they would bill my credit card. They I reminded them that I had proof of delivery via certified mail. Then all of a sudden they said they did receive the equipment, but it was late and they would bill my credit card for three months service. Again, I told them I had proof of delivery. The lady then said again my credit card would be billed. Being wise to these scams as an attorney, I had cancelled the card at the same time I returned the equipment. I told the lady to feel free to bill the card if she wanted but the card was dead and buried. She then hung up the phone in my face. This company goes by other names--so beware they are crooks. Pleae do not fall for this scam. They are nothing but crooks and have several different company names. Hank Edwards

My mother was having a problem getting a refund for the Medical Alert system that was shipped to her. She opened the box but never activated the service after seeing how much it would cost each month. Her first big mistake was speaking to a representative and giving her credit card number over the phone because they automatically sent her one of these things even though she was not sure about even wanting this service.

On top of that, once she got the box they made it very difficult to send it back. Not only was there no return address on the box but there was no return shipping label anywhere inside either. It's as if they don't want to make it easy to send these things back.

Found out later why. The longer you take to send it back the more weeks they charge you for their "service".My mom tried to get a full refund because she never used the thing, and boy, they insisted they were going to charge her for every day the unit was not in THEIR hands even though the device was NEVER activated! Do not deal with these people! Once they get your parent's credit card number they just CHARGE AWAY and have every excuse why you won't get a refund!

Originally ordered Medical Alert for elderly mother, 84 years old. Pre-paid for annual services for 2 years. At the end of the 2nd year, decided not to renew services. When renewal notice came, threw it away because I was not going to renew this service. Fast forward 1 month. This company calls me daily and my mother in law daily to renew. When I told them I was not renewing services I was told I needed to return all equipment. Fine. I asked them to please e-mail me the return information along with the return address. I was at work whenever they called me and felt an e-mail would be an easier way to comminicate this information.

They always said ok and that they would e-mail. Never happened....the phone calls continued. As the phone calls continued the rudeness of the callers also escalated. I simply would request an e-mail with the return information....it was impossible to get. Once I had the equipment in the mail the very next phone call (again, I was at work) the caller insisted on a tracking number...really? I carry that with me at work for when you call me....Please, DO NOT use this service. The calls since I have decided not to renew are now bordering on harrassement. FYI potential customers: Hospice Services usually provides alert systems free of charge.

These people are trying to rip my mother off who is 82 with dementia. She in the last year has gone through a real nasty divorce, and in January transferred her service to a new address with a new phone number. She has not received anything from them since then and even totally forgot she even had this service until this weekend they sent her something saying she had a balance of $400 and they were turning her off. I found out that they kept her old number on the account that was her nasty ex husbands number, updated the account with her new address but left her old zip code attached to it.....so nothing got to her! Also found out that her ex husband called cancelling all the credit cards that were to pay for the account. I spoke with Lynnette in customer service...she was just, okay, could not really help, then I spoke with Tiara who was a rude woman....after her I asked for her supervisor who was Lotonya Coleman who was the most rude woman I have ever had to deal with. After hearing our story she is not willing to help my mom at all! THIS WAS THEIR FAULT TO BEGIN WITH!!! She was so nasty about my mother who she never has met...stating she owes the money regardless stating that my mother with dementia should be smart enough to know that she hasn't received anything and that her unit was not working. How dare her!!! All I asked for was for 1/2 the amount to be waived (which it ALL should be waived) we would pay the 200 and cancel her account. I want someone who cares about my mom....NOT THIS RIP OFF COMPANY!!! I want her to be credited the full amount now and we will GLADLY return your unit.......I WILL NEVER EVER Refer you to anyone! How dare you take advantage of the elderly! YOU ARE A SCAM!
