I contacted Marblecast, Bud Olejniczak, during September of 2018, and discussed my need for a Walk-In-Tub, as I was finding it difficult to use the walk-in-shower currently installed in my house. Bud stated that he wanted my business.
Bud provided a quote for the installation which was modified and accepted. Bud stated that he had an independent contractor that would be doing the installation for him, and that that contractor would be covered under the insurance umbrella of Marblecast, and would represent Marblecast during that installation.
Bud stated that his contractor would provide the associated services that I desired, including Vinyl floor replacement and toilet replacement and repainting the room. Coupled with that installation, the contractor would remove the existing shower assembly, the sink and toilet, in order to replace the vinyl flooring before installing the new tub, new toilet, and replacing the existing sink/vanity. These were items that Bud was aware of, as he needed to have his contractor offer a cost for that installation, items which were disclosed on the Marblecast quote.
The contractor that represented Marblecast during the installation, did not finish the installation. Molding was to be provided between the tub and floor, and sealed to prevent moisture migration beneath the tub and potentially causing a mold hazard. The contractor also lost a part for the decorative towel bars mounted on the wall, an item that he stated that he would return and repair at a future date.
Additionally, a drip edge on the shower door that was delivered to the job was not of the proper type. The installer stated that he would return at a future date with the proper drip edge.
On the quote and not installed were:
An 18" wall grab bar
A Moen Magnetix Shower Head
A Delta 1400 Chrome Trim Kit Volume/Temp all in one
A Delta Rough-in 10000
The contractor identified that the installation would be finished on a return trip, during the following week and asked for final payment of the contract. I mistakenly paid the contractor. On repeated attempts to contact Marblecast's independent contractor, he failed to return my calls and respond to the need to complete the job.
The failure of Marblecast to properly install all the items on the quote makes the finished installation not as desirable as was intended. Temperature balancing now needs to be accomplished with 2 faucets instead of a single control.
When I called and talked to Bud to request assistance from his contractor to finish the job, Bud went on an unending tirade describing how he was not responsible and that the issue was between the contractor and I, and that I should not have paid the bill until the job was complete. It was difficult for me to identify my difficulty to Bud, as he would not allow me to finish my description of the problem.
Bud stated that the independent contractor was responsible for the work, not Marblecast, even though Bud had stated that his agent was equal to the task, and was covered under the insurance umbrella of Marblecast, as noted previously.
I would recommend extreme caution to anyone desiring to use Marblecast's services, and take nothing for granted. Do not pay for the contract completion until you have every last detail completed. Ensure that all items on the quote are included within the finished work project.
I would not recommend using Marblecast to provide services for bath remodel, based on my experience.
