It went well with me

It was a sunny day and I was busy doing my office presentation.

All of a sudden my computer started to malfunction & after multiple attempt to shut it down and then to restart I concluded that I need help from outside now.

I googled about the issue that found Live Technician website at the top of the google search results.

I opened the website and called the number mention over there as there support number.

person on the other side greeted me & asked about the reason behind my call to them.

I explained him about the situation that my computer is not working properly.

He asked some specific questions about the issue like from how long it is happening along with some technical details.

He also informed me about their maintenance plans in advance & we negotiated a little bit and agreed at USD 259 package for Three month support.

I being a non technical person was hardly able to understand what all he wanted me to explain and I expressed this to the person on the call.

He told me not to worry & advised me to put my computer on remote access by them.

I was a little skeptical about providing them remote access to my computer but guy explained that everything they are going to do is in front of my eyes and is for good.

I finally agreed and put them on remote.

after 30 minutes of engineering work the issue seemed to be resolved.

The guy on the call instructed me on how can I get instant support free of cost for next 3 months and gave me a privileged number.

Untill now I was not impressed with the service as I paid for the service and this is normal business but....

After 45 days or so My same computer started with the same problem, I immediately called the number given by the Live Tech guy.

This time a lady picked up the call with the same greeting and asked the reason behind the call.

I was a little upset as I was expecting the same guy to pick up my call & started thinking that whether this lady will listen & understand to me.

But to my surprise this lady tracked my number and informed me that I have taken their service 45 days back & as I subscribed for 3 months my all repairs are free of charge for next 45 days.

She also took my system on remote and repaired my computer.

although about 45 days are remaining in my subscription but I am already thinking to renew my plan.

Reason is, I don't want to take trouble of taking my system to local repair shop , Pay the same amount for repair & waste so much of my time waiting him to repair.

The a**holes of live technician are familiar with the circumstances that they are going to be identified one day for all the type of fraudulent they have been doing for multiple years by selling their useless software by threatening the innocent people. They keep changing the name of their tech support. Till the time, they have been fooling us by using names like "Online Resolve", "Live PC Fix", "Fix Us", "IT Informatic" and may more. They tell us that their office is situated at Las Vegas, Nevada but actually they are based at Noida (A city of India). All that company cares about is money and nothing else. They don't even give salary to their employees on time. The employees are fed up as well as their customers. Don't give any money to these scammers. When you get pop up with their name & number, just refresh your browser using "F5" key and if the problem still persists then reboot (restart your computer). Live technician push pop ups on your screen and when they will call them, they will tell you that your IP is infected and you need to buy their anti-virus, anti-malware etc. etc. Don't buy anything and don't encourage them to make fool of us.

Live Technician Scam

On 2 June, 2016, my computer crashed when I clicked on a supposed news item. A page appeared, identifying me as a T-Mobile customer; that my personal information had possibly been compromised and that I could recover by calling a technician at 866-927-0073 - for an apparent fee. Please note that Experian (the credit reporting agency) had been hacked several months ago and T-Mobile customer data downloaded. I am a T-Mobile customer.

I telephoned 866-927-0073 and spoke with an Asian male with British English as his second language who identified his business as Live Technician, in Las Vegas. He refused to answer further questions.

The Las Vegas Better Business Bureau identified a business by the name of Live Technician at 187 E. Springs Road, Ste. B, PMB 156, Las Vegas NV.

A dispatcher at The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department stated that there was no such address, but that Springs Road was within their jurisdiction.

The FBI, Consumer Protection Commission and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department are investigating.

This company, which I later came to know as, Life Technician scrambled my computer while I was surfing the Internet and had a message flashing on my screen informing me that my computer had been compromised and that my credit cards were at risk. A UK telephone number was advetised asking me to call this number immediately. Of course my computer was frozen and I was not allowed to continue browsing. This happened with Internet Explorer. I did not call them and I shut down the computer. However, when I logged back on this message was still there and I could not do anything and it remained there for two days (I decided to use Google Chrome instead). I decided to call the telephone number today and asked them how they came about my IP address. I was informed that it was because I had a Windows computer and that they were registered with Windows and that my credit cards details had been compromised and that is why the message was coming up on my screen. I informed them that I was going to contact Windows to ask whether this was true and that I did not care for their support. I also informed them that I will take the matter up with British Telecom and start legal proceedings against them for hacking into my computer if that message did not disappear the next time I logged on and ended the conversation. When I logged back on the message had disappeared. My only concern is that I do not know what else they have on my computer. I have now filed a complaint with Windows and intend to take it up with British Telecom. I want people to have the confidence to fight back at these unscrupulous companies like Life Technician who prey on people's insecurities to defraud them. People need to have the confidence to tell them to go to hell and not part with their money.

Just scammed

My father-in-law got a pop-up message saying he had a virus on his computer. He is 84 and he was disturbed by the pop-up, so he called. He gave his credit card # and they charged the card $299. Once, his daughter realized what he had done, she tried to access his credit card information from his computer, but the bank said that they did not recognize the computer they were working from. They immediately called the credit card fraud number and the charge had not gone through, but the credit card company wouldn't take any action until the charge appeared. The charge did appear and the father-in-law almost payed the entire bill unknowingly. Fortunately, the daughter caught this error and they had to dispute the initial charge at that point in time. What a hassle! This company should be put out of business. Please do all you can to shut it down so that no one else is a victim.

Traditional internet scam. Brand new Apple computer gets a locked screen. The number pops up. An elderly person who does nto now any better calls the number. He gets signed up for 2 year protection plan and gives remote access to his computer. We tried to cancel the plan right as they were "working" on the computer. Refused to cancel and issue the $275 refund. Were willing to settle for $120 for "software" used. A dispute is filed with the credit card company. Horrible company!

Live Technician aka Astech ada Papa Direct

I am NOT giving this any ratings because this company is a SCAM.

In short, a black screen popped up with a alarming message that my computer had a ZEUS virus and if I tried to remove or shut down my computer, I would not be able to use it again. A pop-up box gave a message that I was to call a number which is Microsoft. I panicked and called them. The INDIAN Shawn was very sympathetic, took control of my computer, told me I had to pay $365 for year subscription before he could work on it. Told him couldn't afford to pay, said he will talk to his Accounts Mngr. Came back to and said will do $149.99 for six months unlimited. He said it would take a number of hours to fix. 5 hours of "working" on my computer is was "fixed" he called and said they would run the charge the next day. Gave me his direct number and said I must not speak to anyone else from another company if I get called, must ask them what my customer ID # is. If they don't know I must hangup..

2 weeks later the same virus message was back. I tried to call Shawn, but got music and call cut off. I emailed and told them they were a scam. I had no option but to call the number in the pop-up and got thru to "someone" an INDIAN who told me Astech was a scam and I must call CC company and get refund, which I did but it takes 90 days to go thru dispute process. This INDIAN took control of my computer (after telling me they were the "official" Microsoft techs it would cost me $159.00 + $20 = $179.99 to fix problem. Once again I paid by CC. He downloaded Free Malware Bytes, scanned my computer and in 10 minutes said it was fixed.

A week later received call from Shawn (INDIAN) at Astech, he also told me the company name was changed to Papa Direct because their license was not renewed in the old company. Said that they had installed "corrupted" programs on my computer and needed to remove them and would give me a refund of the first $149.99. Since it takes 90 days to resolve a dispute, I agreed to the fund offer and would call CC Company when finished with INDIAN fixing computer. Took control of computer to remove "corrupt" programs. I asked him to reverse charge to my CC. Said they can't because info is destroyed. Said has to be done bank to bank. Two banks came up on screen Bank of America and Chase. He asked which was my bank. Said all they needed was last 4 digits of bank account and the money would be transferred immediately. Said I must check my bank account to make sure money is in. He started going crazy and calling his accounts manager a fool because he transferred $1499.99 into my account. I checked my account and there was the $1499.99 in my account. Said that he will lose his job if I don't refund money to them. I said I have to go to my bank because amount was over $1000. He said I cannot do that, I have to refund immediately and they will accept $1250. I must send them a Moneygram. He typed instructions on my screen who and where to send it. It was to an Arab in Morrocco and he said he will stay on the line until I get Moneygram and give him reference #. I told him I will call him back. I went straight to my bank and the Manager me it was a scam and checked my account, there was NO such deposit. Phone rang when I got home and it was Shawn I answered, he screamed at me that he wanted the money otherwise he would drain my bank account of funds and freeze my computer. I once again panicked and called the police. A Sherriff came to my home and told me that this scam and others are rampant and I must not answer any calls from Unknown sources or numbers as they will stop called and go onto the next person to scam. They are located overseas and route through Google voice to local numbers around the USA. I have received on average 6 calls a day for past month.

I have been receiving emails from this company that they have been trying to call me and that I must call them. There are various telephone numbers and they are located in the UK. Then I received an email that said they would refund me $99.00 of the $179.99 ........... THESE ARE THE SAME COMPANIES I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH ALL ALONG. I called my CC Company to dispute the $179.99 and again it will take 90 days. Today I received a receipt for the $179.99, I supposed they are trying to cover their tracks because I have disputed the amount. Today I have not received any calls. I am gathering all the information I have regarding this SCAM and if they dispute the charge my CC Company will need all the documentation.

Arrest This company now!!!!!!!

I have fallen victim to this company who called themselves Live Techncian and said they were working for Microsoft Windows.

I paid them £445.35 plus a £20 phone bill.

I too was on Internet Explorer when reading a news article and my computer screen had frozen with a message from what i thought was from microsoft informing me that my computer had been compromised and to ring their free number.

I ignored the message first, turned off my computer and rebooted it, but the message came back up several times.

Thats when i rang the number and spoke to an Indian person who told me they were the Microsoft windows team and verified repeatedly that i was totally safe and they needed to remove the viruses from my computer in order for it to work again.

But in order to remove them, they offered 3 price package licences, a 6 month at £199, 1 year at £299 and lifetime antivirus package at £400 which could be transferred to a new computer if bought in the future. ( Actual cost to me was £445.35 due to international bank charges)

I opted for the lifetime licence as this seemed the most sensible choice and gave my card details via an online form that appeared whilst this person had remote access to my computer.

Having filled my details in they sent an email to confirm the order and licence number was being processed.

The person kept me on the phone for over an hour, and showing me that my conputer had over a 1000 viruses. Even when i questioned that i had Macfee protection they said this was not enough and that everyone should take out added protection so the firewall to the computer is not comprised. They even sent me a diagram explaining what had happened to my conputer, showing that the firewall had no protection.

All looked very genuine and said they would remove every single one, it would take some time but their virus protection would stop any further problems and that my computer would run really fast after installation.

I totally fell for the scam, i didnt realise until almost 6 weeks later, when i noticed a series of transactions on my card were not authorised by me.

I informed my bank and they immediately stopped my card and reissued a new one and currently investigating these transacrions.

I then started getting numerous phone calls on my landline from Live Technician who said that the virus protection needed updating on my computer and they would remove it free of charge. But in order to do this they would need remote access to my computer.

I told them that this is not what was agreed and i had no virus alerts and hung up.

They were persitant in calling me up and i felt something wasnt right and that maybe there was a link with this company who had sold my id to a criminal who had access to my card details. I googled them and found your site aswell as other sites that this company is a scam.

It just happened that when my suspicions were raised, i had watched a programme called Rip Off Britain had described how criminals can use access into your computer and basically steal your id, passwords bank details and sell it on.

I received another call from Live Technician and this time i told them that the phone call was recorded and under police investigation. The guy just laughed and said he hadnt done anything wrong and i was welcome to call the police and then hung up.

I immediately called my Bank and told them what has happened, i am now in the process of trying to get my money back with the fraud division with 1) my dispute that this company has not provided the services that they said they would give and are a scam, 2) getting my computer checked out to exactly what this company has done.

I guess i have learnt a big lesson that we live in a world where these kind of companies who prey on innocent people by conning them will be behind bars very soon.
