Liberty Mutual Insurance Reviews

  • May 20, 2022

Was promised by agent that I would save "Hundreds" over my existing policy, but each time my policy came up for renewal, my rates would increase drastically even though I never had an accident, claim, anything that would cost them money.

After one year, my rate was higher than what I had been paying, and when I got my next bill, I shopped around and found the company I used to be with would have actually gone down because good driving, so I had to leave Liberty Mutual.

When I called to cancel, they actually didn't seem shocked or try to save me, they seem like this is their business model, advertise lower rates and keep jacking people as long as possible until they can't take it anymore.

This is the biggest ripoff with Liberty Mutual, Safeco. I sustained water damage to my home and between Alyssa, Travis, and Alex at DKI ( a construction company) I wasn't given either a fair or accurate proposal to repair the extensive damage. After 26 years of paying premiums to Liberty, I assumed that the coverage I paid for would be honored.

Now, because I refused to take pennies on the dollar, Travis threatened to close my case! Ms. Romero was supposed to have her friend, Alex from Thistle DKI provide an estimate on repairs. He not only did not provide that he said that he had "worked it out with Alyssa."

Alyssa used Liberty's in-house electronic estimator to determine what would be covered. The device (XACTIMATE) measured walls that did not exist and areas that weren't damaged. I was offered a pint of paint as an example to cover an area. "Paint baseboard - one coat" The entire scheme was deplorable.

I ended up paying over $22,000 to cover the repairs and replacements. Slip-shod and unprofessional. My only hope is that when their homes sustain damage they receive the XACT same treatment. I immediately canceled my policy.

Liberty Mutual refused to pay for the cost of repairing my vehicle after sustaining damage from their client's negligence. Employees of the restaurant shoveled ice off the roof of their restaurant onto my car while it sat in their parking lot and I was inside eating.

After four months in the shop and Liberty fighting with the repair shop over costs, I was forced to pay nearly $4000.00 to get my car out of the shop. They also refused to pay the extended cost of the rental car. After many e-mails back and forth they finally paid for the rental car but still not the entire cost of repairs.

Now they are offering me 10% of the Diminished Value of the car. A Diminished Value report was professionally estimated and prepared. They also refused to pay for the report.

They said that this additional deductable amount was due to "betterment" on our vehicle. "Betterment" was not defined in the coverage(s) where it could be found easily. We contacted several other auto insurance companies about "betterment" and none said that they had heard of it and that it was not something that was in their policies.

I did NOT renew the policy with Liberty Mutual and will tell anyone who will listen, of my experiance with them. The repairs, costing over $4,500.00, were due to hitting a hole in the side of the highway pavement to avoid a head-on collision with a car that was in my lane. This was during a February snow storm near tahoe city

I was injured September 19, 2019 while piloting a hot air balloon air tour for my employer Sin City Vegas Hot Air ballooning. While I was attempting to land, I was caught in a convective wind (dust devil) which slammed my aircraft onto the hard rock covered desert ejecting me and causing me to roll for tens of yards. Seriously injured I was ground transported via ambulance to UMC Trauma Center to address my injuries including right-side paralysis.

Initially, the workers comp insurer, LIBERTY MUTUAL, through their claim’s adjustor, ASHLEE ISBELL and their attorney DANIEL SCHWARTZ denied coverage, first on Oct 1st as “drivers over 60 years of age are not covered” -I was flying. Secondly lack of receipt of the FAA’s accident report-Nevada is a non-fault work comp state. Third lack of verification of employment-a C-4 and an employer D-8 form was filed with the insurance company.

On September 20, 2020, with the professional assistance of, JILL A. KOLOSKE, esq. of the Nevada Attorney for Injured Workers (NAIW) we were able to receive a favorable judgment. Claim no. WC617-A16640, Hearing No. 2005112-TH, Appeal No. 2008519-DM. Finally, 397 days after the accident on October 12, 2020 LIBERTY MUTUAL provided a Notice of Claim Acceptance as required by NRS 616C.065.

Now over 600 days after the accident LIBERTY MUTUAL has continued their notorious “deny delay and defend” tactics by not providing any temporary disability benefits, medical assistance, and denying private insurance paid, co-pays and deductibles. In addition, I was denied access to an Independent Medical Examiner, IME, until court ordered on March 3, 2021 Hearing No: 2106173-RS which findings were also denied. As a result of their actions, I hired, professional workers comp attorney, JASON WEINSTOCK, esq. to assist in my disputes. LIBERTY MUTUAL’s in-actions have overburdened the courts with appeals so far resulting in six (6) completed and twenty seven(27) plus hearings pending.

Update 7-30-21

Under distress, I was encourage to settle in order to release me from the broken system that had done nothing to help in almost two years.

In so doing I was asked to state that my injuries were not related to the accident, thereby tranaferring future medical care to my primary care provider, Humanna.

Numerous letters to Nevada's Dept of Insurance, Business and Industry, Attorney Geneal, Govenor, two Senators and my Represenetive all have done nothing.

Liberty Mutual should be ashamed. in 2019 their revenues were in excess of $38 billion and in my case they were able to "deny, delay defend" and deferr their fiduciary responsibilities to others for payment and clogging the worker comp court system in the process.

Wish I could give this criminal enterprise less than 1 star. (and I'm being kind here) They do the "bait-and-switch" on their rates, low ball the first year, then raise rates for no reason at all. Wish I would have shopped around much sooner. Non-existent customer service if you want to talk to an actual human. On almost all of the "hard copy" documentation they send in the mail, they have DELETED contact phone number information. Recorded messages always tell you to "go to the website".

There are literally hundreds (if not thousands) of complaints about this company to be found on the web, yet they continue to rip people off. Instead of wasting $MILLIONS on stupid, inane, racist & sexist TV commercials, how about hiring actual customer service people, providing actual customer service, and paying out legitimate claims instead??

On or around July of 2019 we had major weather events out here in the Nevada desert that caused debris to tear open a hole in our home's wall and roof.

Shortly afterwards, we noticed bees that built a hive in the eves of the space in the roof.

We reported the claim to Liberty Mutual shortly after and it was rejected due to the Liberty Mutuals claim that bees (animals) are not covered under the insurance.

From our understanding, the damage was caused by a hive built by the bees, structures or damages secondary, under Nevada law, are covered. However we did not dispute that at first.

We pointed out that claim contained a part of weather/wind event damage to the roof/walls.

Liberty Mutual initially responded to that reopening of the claim as "normal wear and tear, that people walking on the roof and rubbing against it caused the wear and holes".

We pointed out that there are no easy pedestrian access to that section of roof and wall and virtually no one has access or rubbed against the wall. The rep responded with "oh wait, um, did I say wear? I ment that the bees ate through the wall".

We pointed out that the wall was constructed of stucco, cinderblock, metal sheeting, and other materials bees are not capable of chewing through.

The rep still denied our claim.

We had a contractor and expert evaluate and confirm the damage to the hole in the roof and wall as wind/weather related, not animal/bee caused.

"Based upon my experience, this type of opening would be caused by strong wind forces ripping roof tiles off and/or an extremely heavy, windborne object that landed on the roof and gouged it."

However, Liberty Mutual's offical implicit response:

"We have reviewed and re-evaluated all claims filed by Ms. Lee and our

determination and stance has not changed. The claimed damages to the

roofing tiles, dormers, soffits, fascia and siding on the right elevation above

the garage are caused by wear and tear, marring or deterioration and/or

damage caused by bees."

Which is in direct contradiction to the causes determined by the contractor and experts.

We have paid Libert Mutual Over $3200 in premiums over the past two years and also over $20000 to repair the damage to the wall and roof (excluding remediation for the bee hive removal and repair which is not covered).

Liberty Mutual seems to insist that people were walking on a 45 degree stone pitched roof and rubbing against a wall that is extremely perilous for the average pedestrian to reach and walk on and also claim bees caused the damage to the wall and roof despite the fact bees have never been known to be able to penetrate stone, stuacco, metal sheeting, cinderblock, etc and an expert contractor had already examined the damage and determined it to be wind/weather event related (not animal, bee, or humans rubbing against it).

Liberty Mutual seems to go to great lengths to implicitly narriate their determinations and place themselves as omnipoence of events that occured in order to deny coverage. We feel this is malicious, illegal, and in bad faith.

I guess they're attempting to extort monies from me for not paying their rediculous inflated rates. My rate went from $409/year, to $970/year. Retired, no infraction/accidents, drive less than 500 miles/month, 23 year-old truck. Yeah, I'm paying nearly $1K/year to insure that. This was shortly after paying them the monthly rate, they turn-around and think I'm just going to agree to their inflated rate.

I double checked just to be sure they hadn't made an error. Nope, $970 is now what they want. No thanks, I'll be buying insurance elsewhere, which was exactly what I did. Now, a few months later, I received a letter from a collection agence attempting to extort over $170 from me in the name of Liberty Mutual.

I guess honest business practices are becoming a thing of the past. I'll be refering this the my States Department of Insurance to have this looked into. Bottom line, avoid Liberty Mutual, elsewise like myself, you'll be wasting your time clearing a fabricated debt.

I hired someone to power wash my house. The solution he used must have been far too strong because I could not only smell it in my house with the windows closed, it damaged the acrylic finish on my brand-new slab and destroyed plants that became spotted like they were sprayed with a chemical. They died off.

I found out who his insurance company was and submitted a claim. No adjuster came out. They took all of the pictures that I submitted where it showed the tread marks of his power washing machine etched into the finish of the slab. I provided before and after photos.

The power washing guy told Liberty Mutual that he didn't cause any damage and that the finish was defective and therefore he was not responsible. The finish was acrylic, and a strong bleach solution would cause damage. That does not deem it defective. In fact, if what they claim is true, then the grill I had sitting on the slab would have caused the same damage, but it didn’t cause any.

Liberty Mutual denied the claim and took his side. Their position was "we will uphold the policy holder's position because they are the one that pays us". So, it doesn't matter if the policy holder caused the damage if they have a "reason" not to pay the claim.

My past personal experience with Liberty Mutual was horrible and it's the reason I would never use them nor would ever recommend them. They denied the majority of my homeowner's claim from a burst pipe in my home. They proceeded to ask the contract to hand chisel the mud flooring to save the mud walls in the bathroom so they wouldn't have to pay to have a complete renovation.

The adjuster priced that work being paid out 2 cents per square foot. Manual labor at 2 cents a square foot! Liberty Mutual is in business to make money and not pay out claims. That much is clear. They will do whatever it takes to avoid playing out a claim no matter the amount of evidence you have that they should.

State Farm is the exact opposite. They are very accommodating. NEVER GO WITH LIBERTY MUTUAL. You've been warned that they are thieves.

ONLINE COMPLAINT AGAINST LIBERTY MUTUAL INSURANCE

We have about a 100-ft cedar wood fence extension (above our block wall) that was severely damaged during a violent storm. Each section of a dozen 8-foot long sections is interconnected to each other like links in a chain thru common posts. Several of these posts were busted off at the their bases. One section fell off; several others can be moved by my pinky. Dry Southwest climate. The entire fence requires replacement.

LMI claims that the total replacement cost is $265.84, and with our $500 deductible, will pay us $0. $265 will not even likely pay for just the cedar wood of just ONE section, made even more costly because cedar must be special ordered and trucked in. I found LMI claims adjusters, Katherine Weinberger and Kristina aguirre, to be horrible to deal with.

I found both Katherine Weinberger and Kristina Aguirre to be condescending, evasive, deceptive and manipulative. They absolutely refused to consider all the damages, gave me well-rehearsed corporate BS spiels, and refused to provide me their chain of command and LMI's Registered Agent info. Further, they claimed that LMI did not deny my claim, implying that if LMI assessed losses at $1, it could still claim non-denial.

The fact is that LMI clearly loves to DENY PAYING CLAIMS. Katherine Weinberger and Kristina Aguirre even refused to justify how it derived its $265 figure. There are wisened old sayings, such as, "What is good for the goose is good for the gander", and "What goes around, comes around".

The sole purpose of insurance is to protect you from catastrophic financial losses should the covered item be damaged, destroyed or stolen. That is what your premiums pay for. If a claim arises, you rightfully expect it to be reliably, fairly, completely and quickly paid, less deductible. Insurance companies which delay, nitpick, resort to technicalities, low-ball you, refuse to fully consider your losses, or refuse to itemize their settlement figures are crooks. Period. This is our experience with Liberty Mutual Insurance (SafeCo). Check out LMI for yourself.

Your hard-earned premiums are not intended to pay for multi-million dollar compensation packages and golden parachutes for about 10 of its execs, a fleet of 5 long-distance luxury corporate jets, a state-of-the-art hangar, lavish resort stays, etc. while you struggle to pay your premiums. LMI. You expect your claims to be evaluated and paid fairly and quickly based on your coverage and losses - not based upon some arbitrary and capricious low-ball formula contrived by MBAs.

Again, LMI. Nor expect their claims adjusters to be financially rewarded for denying or low-balling you. Again, LMI. Nor tolerate bad employee treatment: LMI clearly has a history of not paying for overtime, for paying much smaller salaries and bonuses to its female employees, and with a firmly intact glass ceiling. Out of LMI's 54 Operational Managers, only 2 have identifiably female names - a disgusting 3.7%! Clearly, LMI abuses its female employees by making them futureless stupid fools providing its big boys with lavish lifestyles paid for by policyholder premiums. The big boys are slapping their knees!

Out of about 100 rated insurance companies, LMI is ranked about #8 - from the bottom - with numerous LMI bad faith and breach of contract complaints. "Soaring greed at Liberty Mutual" (Brian McGrory, Boston Globe). "Liberty Mutual tries to squirm out of every claim" (Bill Shaw, 2016). LMI uses the "pure premium" criteria (basically, the % of total premiums used to pay total claims) to measure LMI's profitability, to evaluate its claims adjusters and for their bonuses. The less paid out in claims, the lower the pure premium, the better the evaluation and the bigger the bonus. You get the picture.

The worse thing that any American corporation can do is to betray, demean and disrespect our Country. This is a big deal to me; I honorably volunteered and served our Country during a time of war. LMI runs a series of disgusting and despicable TV commercials which show the Statue of Liberty - a sacred American symbol - on the left. On the right is almost always a person acting or looking in bizarre and crazy ways - clearly to say that the Statue of Liberty makes people act and appear bizarre and/or crazy.

In many of LMI commercials (eg: emu commercials), a yellowish color is prominent, which appears to closely match the color of the stars in the Chinese flag and some Chinese cultural symbols (eg: Chinese Lantern). According to DOD, China is an enemy of the U.S.A. LMI is apparently the only "American" insurance company allowed to operate in western China, which means that China controls some, if not all, of LMI. I would bet the farm that if LMI substituted its Statue of Liberty image with, say, an image of Chin Shih Huang, that LMI would have zero market share in China - if not sued to the hilt.

Also, there are clearly disturbing and complex dealings involving China (ie: Fosun International Ltd.), LMI and its Ironshore subsidiary, Wright & Co. (previous subsidiary of Ironshore; bought and later sold by Fosun), Starr Companies, AIG, Lloyd's China platform, and CoverWallet. Wright & Co. writes most of the liability insurance policies for Federal workers, including the CIA. The personal and private data of 1,000s of CIA employees and their families at grave risk of compromise must certainly be considered a national security issue and thoroughly investigated by the FBI.

Liberty Mutual operates many insurance companies, including SafeCo, Ironshore, American Fire & Casualty, Ohio Casualty, Peerless Insurance, and many others. Before you buy into any financial product, be sure to first determine if it is in any way associated with Liberty Mutual, then decide. And always inform all people you care about.

Because I had a life insurance policy with LM, I thought to lower my increasing auto insurance with another company by switching to them. This is a lesson in NOT believing advertising. The first rep took my info and set up a policy; when I went to check on it and make the first payment, they had the policy completely wrong.

The 2nd rep. supposedly changed the policy but could not send the corrected one for me to sign. So I called another rep who put me through to policy services. This rep was patient and seemed very competent. She discovered that the incorrect policy, if correctly written, would require a nearly $900 deposit.

I cancelled any further business with them on this issue. Wouldn't you know that they charged the policy premium anyway, caused an overdraft for my policy and my existing insurance, and have yet to refund the money, even though they said it would take 3 - 5 days. it's been 7. when i called on the 7th day, they said it would take another 6 days! Assuredly, I am cancelling my life insurance because I have no faith that they will even pay a claim.

Run!! Don't believe their hype.

I moved to Liberty Mutual because they had a low mileage insurance program. I took the RightTrack safe driver program. They took 5% off for taking the program, and I got another 22% off for a good 3 month safety score. (This is a GPS tracking system that records every move the car makes). But my Insurance went up 29% in the first year. I am retired and drive between 1000 miles to 1500 miles per year. They gave me a lower premium quote in writing showing percentage reductions at first, but when I got the next bill, the payment was increased 29%, more than what I earned with the safety program. I talked to a manager and he gave me a long list of reasons why my premium had to go up a minimum of 29% the first year, non of which made sense.

We had been insured by Liberty Mutual going back to the 1970s, with brief departures, but when we continued with them in Georgia, our agent left suddenly with no explanation and they refused to replace him. We complained over the denial of promised provisions such as vanishing deductible and longevity premium discount, and they retaliated by raising our auto insurance rates over 70% with no explanation at all (we had never had any claims or tickets.) So I demanded the mutual insurance policyholder/member right of filing a corporate resolution complaining, which they totally ignored.

Writing to their President David H.Long got no response from him, but their so-called Presidential Service Team refused to help in the slightest. Finally, I charged them with BREACH OF INSURANCE CONTRACT for not honoring their many promises, and they retaliated by demanding another month's preium via a very nasty collection agency. This insurer abuses a national icon, the Statue of Liberty, which they use to sell policies by misrepresenting how much you can save -- refusing to justify or prove those claims. Instead of saving us over $700 as they claim in current ads, they raised our auto insurance rate OVER $700 when we never had a claim. Liberty Mutual is unstrustworthy, unresponsive to policyholder/members, and a disgrace to the insurance industry. BEWARE!

I was insured for 15 + yrs by Liberty Mutual for my house. I never had even one claim I survived the Station Fire 8 yrs ago which was then the largest fire in Los Angles County. In December there was a fire a few miles away, the Creek Fire and Liberty then decided to cancel my policy even though I was in no danger. There reasoning was winds, fire, and a narrow street. They sent me a map of my area which wasn't my area and didn't correspond at all to my street. Fine, they made free money off of me for 15 yrs and have decided to drop all So Cal homeowners as they will have to pay heavy amounts due to serious losses. My homeowner's insurance has now doubled as a result. Cowards.

I received an advertisement in the mail that they could save me money on my auto insurance so I called them to get a quote. They quoted me all kinds of discounts for early bird shopping which would save me money so I took their offer.

I received my policy in the mail and it excluded and declined many of the coverage of what I had on my present insurance policy such as collision, transportation expenses, towing and labor. They took my credit card information over the phone and billed me for 6 months.

I called them and asked about the coverage I was seeking and they could add it to my policy at an additional cost. This amount would execeed my present policy by about $250 so I called and cancelled their policy and stayed with my present company. The deductible was much higher than I have now too.

The letter I received was a "come on" and very deceptive because they said I saved money but after getting my money and the policy, it would actually cost me a lot more money,

On around august 15 2017, i woke up to a flooded kitchen. i live in a condo and the upstairs neighbors decided to flush cat litter down there toilet clogging the sewer line. i had my kichen disenfected and the damage removed. i had to explain to my neighbors that they were liable, i first heard from liberty mutual on sept. 6 2017 only to claim that they were denying the claim.

they had not spoke to me or visited the damage. after some time and some convinsing by me on a black and white case they opened a claim #036011605. again stopped communicating and never did visit the dammage site.

obviously by there lack of cmmunication, i never recieved advise, guidelines, etc. my kitches was finally finished on november 21 2017.

i finally heard from libert mutual insurace on dec. 14 2017 telling me that they would not pay for all my recovery cost. i have never beeen invoved with an ins. claim but something doesn't feel right. i feil that liberty mutual insurance still owes me $2555.00 that they refused to pay in my recovery cost.

i could go on and on about my inconviniences and additional exspeneces which i did not try to recover. i am in a wheel chair which led to some of the inconvinience and exspence.

October 2016, my daughter was stranded.I called LM about towing and was informed we were not covered for RSA.I Added it onto the policy that day in spite of the fact she could not use it for her current situation. Today Sept 17, 2017, she called stranded again and had called RSA only to be told her car could only be towed 15 miles. I got aggravate! In Oct 2016, I had a lengthy conversation with rep Erik and we discussed what the RSA/towing component and I selected the 100 miles. Now today, LM tells me there is no such item as 100 miles instead I have up to a $100.00 disablement. RSA/Agero rep Dalsino states he has never heard of the miles either and he does not tell customers of a mile selection for towing. However, when my daughter was on the phone with a rep from RSA/Agero, she was told the exact same thing about Agero miles package. Have her phone # as REF #LM rep informed me the initial contact date in 2016, it was 50 then it was changed ( same phone call) to 100 which was exactly what I did. I went from the 50 miles to the 100 miles selection. But today a miles selection DOES NOT exist. I called back 9/17/17 to LM spoke w/Vicki and canceled the RSA coverage and ask to file a complaint. Prior LM rep said they would need to pull the recording of the Oct 2016 call.I got the next LM rep Emily gave me auto team number to call, another ref # instructed to call and leave a message. (Sunday closed) .

I called and left a lengthy message about the towing/miles issues. I plan to cancel my policy at the end of the month and stop the automatic payment. I was treated as if stupid by the first LM rep and unconcern by the second LM rep -asking to file a complaint. She told me if the car was in the shop I could get a rental car, I asked her was that a part of RSA, she said NO, and the third LM rep appear concerned about my complaint. Trying to get the car towed back to my home to be repaired - 84 miles. I was connected to LM via my banking institution DOCO, yes it was my choice to go with them, however, one would assume DOCO would refer its customers to the reputable insurance company. Yes, I am also calling DOCO about LM with hopes that DOCO will not refer any more customers to them. I fling a complaint with the BBC, the Federal Trade Commission ( FTC) and the local insurance commission about LM fraudulently and misleading practice.

Went into this Liberty Mutual Insurance office to get a price quote on home insurance and talked to a agent by the name of Krystal Hernandez Lic # 0G17987 .. She ended up giving me a outrageous price quote. I ended up taking my business elsewhere and received a price quote for half the price she quoted me. Beware !! she is dishonest and does not seem to look out for your best interest.

When is a better car replacement not a better car replacement? When it is Liberty Mutual! Liberty Mutual’s better car replacement ads claiming you’re better off with them as your auto insurance company, leading you to believe they will take care of you unlike the competition. However, before you take the ad’s claim as fact, you’d better do some homework! If you’re insured by Liberty Mutual you could be under the same belief I was, that you’re covered in case your car is totaled. After my car was totaled I was told I wasn’t paying for a better replacement endorsement, even though my premium went from $96 a month to over $200. I asked if they had a waver showing that I had rejected the endorsement and was told that it was up to me to ask for the coverage. I advised the adjustor I had never been contacted by an agent to review my insurance and that their ads are misleading. I later found out the endorsement was at a cost of 10 to 40 percent of the premium which is not disclosed in their ads. I believe it’s up to the agent to offer coverage, if you reject it; you wave it, much like when you rent a car. If you do not have the better replacement endorsement you’re going to be in shock if your car is totaled. Liberty Mutual will use their adjuster CCCone to pay you for only three wheels! Doing your homework will uncover that Liberty Mutual and its adjuster CCCone have been defendants in multiple class actions brought by multiple states and their insured over total loss claims. Even though 100’s of millions of dollars have been paid by companies including both Liberty and CCCone for this practice, Liberty and CCCone continue the same practices today. The Fifth Court of Appeals issued a decision in Slade v. Progressive No. 15-30010 Decided on May 9, 2017. In that decision the Court stated when an automobile is totaled, an insurance company must estimate the total loss value based on the average of retail values given by the National Automobile Dealers Association used car guide (NADA) or another public automobile industry source. The Court found that insurance companies’ that makes a payout based on the estimate comprised of the average of the two values given by companies like CCCone are unjust. Insurance companies act in their own best interest, are said to use sources that make this average as low as possible. These sources are often unavailable to the public, or have a monthly subscription fee. It is an unjust practice for insurers to choose certain sources that give them the information that makes the car seem worth less than it is in actuality, so as to save the insurance company money. The insurance company employees are paid to make sure that the company retains as much money as possible. I was blindsided by Liberty Mutual when my 2000 Z3 in good conduction was totaled and could not replace it with the settlement amount offered. When I informed Liberty’s senior adjustor of the amounts listed for the same car, she stated that those amounts were asking prices and could be negotiated. In reviewing CCCone’s report I found it undervalued my car’s base value, the amount credited for new tires was $19 and other values were just wrong! If you found yourself facing the same treatment, you can find me at https://www.linkedin.com/in/ernestbustos. I have been a consumer advocate for more than 37 years. I believe Liberty Mutual’s ads are deceptive and should be exposed for what they are. I believe Liberty Mutual and CCCone devised a scheme to defraud the insured whose car was deemed totaled causing documents to be mailed by USPS to secure the cars’ title for less than its true value violating USC Title 18 committing mail fraud and their employees could be seen as adding and abetting in the mail fraud. I am taking legal action against Liberty Mutual, CCCone and the agency of record. I also contacted a class action lawfirm!

Long time Liberty Mutual homeowners insurance customer. Always paid premiums on time, never filed bogus claims. My roof was damaged by tornado winds and needed to be replaced. David Derbyshire in claims refused to pay approximately $8,500.00 which was the best price I could find on labor and materials to replace the roof on a 1850 sq.ft. home with a steep pitch. Nevermind the fact that Liberty Mutual has never once had a problem cashing the checks for the 2 home policies I have had with them. Until today I had been a Liberty customer for 15 years, but thanks to David Derbyshire I have switched to Farm Bureau.

Liberty Mutual's insured driver ran a stop sign and totaled my Chevy Suburban on 8/18/2016. Liberty Mutual insured's vehicle was also totalled, however, he walked away without injury.

It was a head on collision sending me and my truck across an oncoming lane of traffic across a ditch and into a wooded area and coming to a stop when my truck hit several trees. My air bag ejected hitting me in the face and forearms. I was unable to exit the vehichle because of the position of the truck and I am a complete T8 parapelegic, therefore, I was unable due to injuries and the location of the truck get my wheelchair out of the truck and transfer into it. The truck was in the woods in mud and surrounded by trees.

I had to wait for the Fire Emergency Rescue Squad to get me out on a board and carry me to the ambulance. I was taken to the emergency room for treatment.

My bodily injury claim was promptly addressed by Glenn Johnson, Medical Claims Specialist and we agreed on settlement and I have received payment.

My issue is with the property damage department, the adjuster, Pierre Cazaubon and his supervisor, Brittany Bright. To date I have not been compensated for my totalled truck, offered a rental car which would be of no use since my vehicle has to be equipped with hand controls and various other equipment to accomodate me driving as a parapelegic, nor spoken to the adjuster or the supervisor. Repeated calls to them resulted in reaching voice mail, leaving a message and never receiving a return call.

According to the claims website my claim status is "We are currently investigating your claim to determine fault". This is ridiculous since not only was their insured cited by the state police for running a stop sign, but also Liberty Mutual paid my bodily injury claim several months ago. On October 28, 2016 I also received a form letter from Pierre Cazaubon stating the same information and referring to me as Liberty Mutual's insured. I am not insured by Liberty Mutual.

Monday, October 31 after repeatedly calling the customer service number that is only automated and does not allow you to speak with a living person, I was able to get through to a customer service representative and requested I speak with a supervisor after explaining the situation and she promptly transferred me to the same claim adjuster Pierre Cazaubon and ofcourse I received his voice mail. I hung up and started the process all over again. I finally spoke with a CSR, Kelly, who looked up my claim and advised me the that Liberty Mutual accepted responsibility on 9/2/16 and their appraiser completed his appraisal on 9/15/16. She stated she did not know why the letter and website claim status says "under investigation". She assured me she was sending an email to Pierre Cazaubon's supervisor Brittany Bright, telephone number 1-469-242-7227 and she would promptly respond by 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, 11/1/16.

Today is Thursday, 11/3/16 and I have not received a call nor email from the supervisor or adjuster. I called Brittany Bright this afternoon and not surprisingly received her voice mail.

I have made a complaint with the Louisiana Department of Insurance who has advised Liberty Mutual has until 11/14/16 to respond.

The accident that was not my fault was on 8/18/16. It is now almost 3 months that I have been without a vehicle equipped to allow me to drive. I have lost wages in addition to the loss of my vehicle because I can not travel without a vehicle equipped with hand controls, etc to accomodate my disability. I have to rely on friends and family to drive me where I need to go.

Liberty Mutual did not offier a rental car, in fact, demanded I pay the storage fees at the wrecker yard where the truck was taken. They clearly know I am unable to drive just any vehicle and I believe they are ignoring my claim in part because of my disability.

If the department of insurance is unsuccessful in getting Liberty Mutual to pay my claim my only other option is to file suit. This was not my fault, I am sufferring for it and it will end up costing me money to hire a lawyer.

THIS IS NOT RIGHT!

I was rear ended by an insured of your company. It's been 2 months and we are still trying to resolve property damage and you have accepted 100% liability!! We have spoken to adjusters, supervisors and managers, and no matter how many calls, emails, faxes and tweets we exchange NOTHING is being done to resolve this matter!

I just received a call from Enterprise looking for money from us because your company stopped paying on the 30th of March after ASSURING us the rental would be paid for until we received a check to purchase a replacement vehicle. I have left numerous Voicemails and none of my messages are ever returned.

Jennifer Allen and Tracy Wilt are the adjuster and manager on this claim. They make promieses and never follow through. I suffer from Asbergers syndrom and take people at their word when something will be handled. I was told last friday that all jen was waiting on to send both checks last friday for the car and the equipment inside the car was the title and tracy to sign off on it.

Fast forward a week later and still they are reviewing the case to see if they can delay this any longer. Mean while the equipment in the car was for a clients new office and I can't install their systems and let them open up untill I get the money from liberty. They are ready to fire me and sue me for breach of contract because of this delay.

I have called them every day for two months twice a day to resolve this matter and have recived a total of 4 returned calls. Their first offer was a joke. They had all the information a for damaged equipment the day after I was able to get into the car.

They have made accusations that my calling every day is the cause for the delay but I don't understand how because i'm always sent to their voicemail.

Hi there everybody , let me tell you a little about my run with Liberty Mutual. This is 1 rip-off company. I was hit by a driver of Liberty Mutual. She was on the shoulder just setting there. Come to find out she turn the wrong way. So she pull over, the police officer told us. That she told him that she was doing a U-turn. But back to the story. My son and I was driving south on hwy 1. As we come up to her as she was still on the shoulder. She thought that she would make a U-turn from shoulder in front of Us. I hit the outside corner divers side back. And the front outside of my van. The police report said. That she did a illegal U-turn in front of me. After 4 day got the polic report. So I call them. And they said that they would get back with me. After they talk to the driver that they cover. They never call so I called them. Now it is the 22nd of Jan. They call me and said. That they were going to pay 70%. I just don't understand them. I was just driving in my lane and she done that to me . My van is going to cost $3500 and they want to give me $2200 People go elsewhere

I hit a deer in my truck on I-75, while heading home to Florida. This was at 2:30 in the morning, on a Saturday.

I work for the Fire Department, fortunately my dog and I we're fine. My truck was not driveable, but handled this like any other car accident while on duty. I called local 911, to have an officer respond (non emergency ) for a report, AAA for a wrecker, then while I waited...contacted Liberty Mutual to inform them what had happened.

I immediately got a representative, and they were seemingly helpful. I received a claim number, and within the hour had the KY State Trooper out, a wrecker, and a ride to the closest hotel for the night.

Fast forward...the next day it took 10 hours to try and get a rental van. The claim number Liberty Mutual assigned to me never showed in the system. I covered the rental out of pocket, and figured it would be simple enough to deal with it later.

Monday morning I follow up with Liberty Mutual, and attempt to move on with getting my vehicle rental covered (I didn't need a rental). The claim number wasn't valid, and Liberty Mutual had no record of my claim number. The number provided did not register in their system.

I attempted to then contact my local Liberty Mutual Insurance representative. Tim had retired. SO, I drive to the Tampa office, and meet with one of their reps, call the home office from the Tampa branch to try and get somewhere with getting reimbursement for the rental, and to get my truck moved to a toll free lot. I was assured that all was taken care of, and I would be notified of what the adjuster found upon arrival at the Liberty Mutual's approved lot.

The following week, I received a letter requesting the keys and title be put into the provided envelope and sent to Liberty Mutual. A crap letter was included, none of which stated anything about the truck being moved, looked at, nothing.

I again contact Liberty, and get absolutely nowhere with them...plus no reimbursement check for my covering their portion of the rental. I also contact the towing company and confirm the truck is still sitting in the lot, and no one has been by. I do not send keys or title, and again drive t o the Tampa office. I spend almost 3 hours there, trying to get all this straightened out.

Same story after I left, that the truck was going to be moved to their lot, check was in the mail, and I would be contacted.

To avoid the nightmare of events that took place over the next few months, I'll summarize. The wrecker company held my truck hostage until Liberty Mutual provided them a check for $1000.00, due to lot expenses. Mind you this accrued due to Liberty dragging their feet, I stead of moving the vehicle day one. I paid to have my truck towed back to Florida out of my own pocket, and had to fight with these people to get reimbursement for that.

I have full coverage on my vehicle, they wanted to total it out, and give me peanuts for it. Mind you that an adjuster never put eyes on the truck.

I hit that deer on October 28th, and never received reimbursement for anything until late January the following year. I could carry on about all the BS that Liberty Mutual Insurance Company put me through, but I have spent more time than I want bringing this terrible company up again.

This entire incident happened 4 years ago, and the reason I decided to put this in here now...was the latest "I hit a deer commercial " on TV.

Do yourself a favor, find an insurance company that actually works FOR their customer. They made a simple claim, a complete nightmare, ran up over $1000 by not doing what they said they were doing. Then made me fight for everything from day one.

Before the incident I had a perfect driving record, no claims (deer).

In the end, my "totalled " truck was repaired (it was never evaluated by an adjuster).

When I called to cancel my policy with them, ( since they run an an in the Firefighter Magazine every month) they sounded surprised.

Good Luck, and I hope it keeps someone from dealing with the mess I had to deal with

Regards
