Oren Levy is the worst accountant I've ever had to encounter for my 18 years in business. He raised my rates every year, talked s**t behind my back, and filed my taxes so that thte IRS audited me.

I hired this firm in 2016. I gave them one star because I do not have the option to give them negative five stars. I was referred to this firm by my advisor at the time so that Levy & Associates could be the CPA firm of my company’s 401K. After 3 years of being dissatisfied with theirs fees & services I decided to shop around, because I really thought that this firm charges too much for their services. I found a firm that charges half of what Levy & Associates charges and I switched to form a mutual referral relationship with the new Firm. I am so happy that I am getting so much more benefits and business from the new firm. However, the President of Levy & Associates could not resist the impulse to confront me in public, and harassed me, blaming the issues we had with them onto my CFO. Very inappropriate. It is my right to select any vendor I want without having to fear that I am going to be harassed and disrespected by a past vendor while I am at business networking events. I think Levy & Associates should be careful in how they treat their clients, especially the ones that leave them. This was a horrific experience and I do not wish any business person having to go through what I went through. That having been said, you are at your own risk if you still want to hire this firm.
My complaint is regarding a transaction that happened in 2016. Mr. Levy charged me $13,500 because he stated that he needed to represent my case in order to provide legal support for the tax years of 2013, 2014, and 2015. However, he never provided any legal support and he basically just manipulated me to pay him $13,500.
In August of 2017, The Franchise Tax Board imposed a levy on my bank account and I contacted Mr. Levy and asked him to help me set up a payment plan because I needed to remove a levy that was attached to my bank account. Three weeks later, Mr. Levy still had never contacted the FTB and I had to resolve the matter with the FTB on my own. During that same period when Mr. Levy and his staff were supposed to be negotiating a payment plan with the FTB, instead Mr. Levy was aggressively trying to chase me down all day because he wanted to charge me an additional 11k; because he said that I would be qualified for an offer and compromise. I was very puzzled and confused because I had already paid him 13,500 in January which should have covered my offer, but he stated that my 13,500 payment was actually his fee just to keep me current. Now, why would I pay anyone a 13,500 fee to stay current, I asked Lawrence Levy. when I was already current because I filed my tax returns. Moreover, if he was charging a 13,500 fee to keep me current, then why did the FTB impose a levy on my assets.
The bottom line is that Levy ripped me off! If you're considering the possibility of hiring a tax resolution company; I would recommend that you hire a individual lawyer instead because they are regulated, and they will charge you an hourly rate or an honest flat rate. These tax resolution companies are crooks and they are also not regulated. Can you imagine paying Levy 13,500 and then seeing absolutely no results? I recently hired an attorney and my revenue officer actually said that Levy made my case worse but she was happy that my new attorney was working hard to help me resolve my tax issues.
