Lee County Electric Cooperative, Inc. Reviews

LCEC is an electric cooperative that is a regular billing customers extreme high charges, sky spiking during summers and winters, and charges highly unlawful amounts on late fees and double, tripple and multiple dips in already charged late fees. Its delights on threats to interrupt service are sent by mail, phone calls and written in red lettered messages on bills.

After hurricane Ian, out of the whole block with electricity connected, and with no valid reason, LCEC did not connect electric service to my and my neighbor's house for 10 more days.

Last LCEC bill is now charging again on an already paid charge, plus infinite miltiple carged unlawful late fees, along with the red lettered message to disconnect service if their dictatorial unlawful charges are not paid, is subject to more late fee, disconnection and/or additional deposit if not paid immediately

Cape Coral City Hall and all the government phones contacted respond with the same lame excuse, that LCEC is a cooperative run by a bunch of directors, that when tried to reach them; you can't, because of their anonimity and bet are never available. LCEC indoctrinated customer service reps have their memorized discouraging answers, being to no avail, any attemp to stop LCEC institutionalized substantial ripoff.

If this is not a ripoff, better get a new dictionary.

I bought new propery, put up fence, locked my yard while I went away, when I came back I found someone had tempered with my fence lock, went inside my property and cut down 3 of my palm trees that I was paying lawn maintenance to keep away from their line.

I called to find out if it was them, they denied it was them. Once I called the cops and the neighbor identify them as the culprit that's when they admitted it was them. To save their a*s, they then came up with the lie that the trees were in the easement and was affecting the powerline.

The reason I believe my race play a role is because the property was recently owned by caucasians, it didn't have any gates, they had direct access but LCEC never felt offended about those palm trees in their "easements".

Three houses from me, another caucasian have palm trees in LCEC easement and they have no problem with it. I feel like if easement and powerline was the case they would have removed all the palm trees that was in the easement, not just the property that's owned by the black girl.

I receved E-bills that go to my bank and the bill is automaticly paid by the "Bill Pay" service my bank provides. One month I recive a bill for $15. When LCEC was called and questioned on the bill they said it was " probably a meter adjustmet". Since this has happened in the past with another elctric company i did not think much of it. Then the next bill arrives and its for over $650, two months of service. When called they agreed to accept the monthly payment and to pay off the rest of the bill in $70 increments every month. Satisfied with this I paid the bill. Two weeks later I recive a shut off notice, when questioned about this the representitive said that we had "stopped payment" on that months bill. My bank verified that that was a lie. LCEC had screwed up the billing again. After phone call after phone call, talking with Supervisiors, etc, they refused to work with us with any solution. Without their help I was able to catch up to what was over $1,000 in payments and am current. Today I received a check in the mail for the amount of this months payment stating I am on a "cash only" account. This entriee mess was due to their mistake, My banks bill pay paid that bill every month fore yaers with not one payment being late. I find it suspicous that the month before I can get my deposit back all of this happens. I have been told by some other people that they had gone through similar circumstances right before they were to get there deposit back. I think they are scammers that just dnt want to give back your money. I have never had an issue like this, only with these people.
