I am a part time dog breeder toy breeds and we have a very small state licensed kennel. We are not Amish, our pups are not in a barn. They are in our home. In my kitchen to be exact. raised here in and around our family. There are good breeders on this site. The reason why you can't find a lot of us is because this site is extremely difficult to work with, it works well for the Amish but not other types of dog breeders .

1. They charge waaaay too much. instead of paying to just post your entire litter or whatever puppies you have and paying like a monthly fee or weekly fee. They charge $15 per puppy. Per puppy... Insane.

2. They delete your ads

3. Did I say they charge too much ???? Yep I did they and they dooooo.

4. they have a ton of rules that don't even revolve around good breeding routines, but more so... Their money, ads and postings. Literally it's a complete rip-off. what they need to do is make some more rules for the dog breeders themselves. Instead of ad rules.

5. They insist that you post your entire litter with them. What? How about we post whatever pups we want and don't want.... it's none of your business whether we post one puppy from a litter or whether we post the entire litter.

6. Don't post your whole litter. You won't sell it on there. While we were capable of selling a couple puppies on there, definitely not an entire litter. For one.... site has way too many dog breeders and puppies. So it makes it hard on anyone advertising on their site.

It's really annoying when we work super super hard on our puppies and parents & and some Amish puppy mill is selling toy breeds for $700. No quality dog breeder can sell puppies for $700, they are cutting corners to do so. A quality dog breeder needs to be able to collect at least $1,000 for a puppy.

You can tell when it's an Amish puppy mill. It will always say no Sunday calls. No Sunday visits. Real dog breeders that work full-time jobs mon-fri are usually available on Sundays.

Here's a word of advice for all puppy shoppers. Don't be a hypocrite. If you're trying to buy a dog own a dog or adopt a dog then you have to appreciate dog breeders or you shouldn't own a dog at all. Next.... Try being polite use the words please and thank you. Nobody wants to sell a rude person their precious puppy. if you find a dog breeder that's interested in your life, your routine, whether you have kids or not, whether you rent to own, this is a good dog breeder. If a dog breeder doesn't ask you any questions whatsoever, beware they don't care.

Lancaster puppies claims to be a non puppy mill operation that uses small Amish communities to rear and breed healthy full blood line animals with AKC Papwork. It's a Scam. Even the children are involved. The boxer puppy we bought was actually a docent animal than advertised. After further investigation I could detrimental this by the difference in watermarks on every boxer. My boxer also was so dehydrated she did not urinate in a thtee hour car ride, supposedly an 8 week old puppy. They were only hiding the kennel cough. Complete animal abuse. This sucks because now we will fave thousands of dollars in vet bills to save this poor puppy. LANCASTER PUPPIES UNDER A RELIGIOUS NAME IS A COMPLETE SCAM.

When we were looking to purchase a husky puppy in April, I happened to come across lancasterpuppies.com. I found the puppy I loved and messaged the lady on the Monday the week before we picked him up. I put my deposit down to guarantee the puppy that I wanted. When I asked if there were any updated pictures of the puppy as the posted pictures were about 4 weeks old, I was told that there were no updated pictures available. Which I found strange but didn’t mind as I loved the puppy from the picture that was posted.

We were all set to make the 4 hour drive from Michigan to Ohio the following Saturday. About half way into the drive I received a call from the family that had our puppy. They let me know that the puppy had a small scab on his back that had peeled off at some point and now there was a “SMALL” open sore on his back.

I was advised that I could change my mind and not get a puppy and they would give me my money back or I could choose another puppy from the litter. Well I had already fallen in love with the puppy and we were already half way into our drive, also I was under the impression that the sore was small, thinking about the size of a quarter, so I told him that we would be there in about 2 hours and we would still take the puppy that we had chosen.

When we arrived to the house we were led to a huge garage where the puppies were kept, all 5 of the puppies were huddled in the corner on the cement, no bed or blanket was laid out, there was no food or water in site, also no visible signs that the puppies had ever even been in this garage. I was handed my puppy and that’s when I realized that the “small” sore was about the size of your palm, all of the hair around it was gone and you could visibly see a large sore in the middle of it.

I feel that there is no possible way that they had just noticed this sore this morning, by the size of it it was there for at least a couple days. They told me that they had a vet come and look at it but “he wasn’t sure what it was from”. I was given the option again to take my money back and leave or choose another puppy.

This is when I made the incredibly difficult decision to choose another puppy from the litter, as I have 2 cats at home and an 8 year old son, and I was worried about the ability for this sore on his back to get larger if it was messed with. The puppy we chose also had a bunch of scabs on him that we later found out was a skin infection and has since been on antibiotics and it has all cleared up.

All of the puppies were extremely skittish while in the garage, which could very well be that there were anxious or nervous to be around new people in a new area. Once we were in our car on the way home he perked right up and has since become the rambunctious puppy that I was expecting him to be.

Overall I am happy with the puppy that we chose, I feel like we saved him from the environment that he was in and would not change our decision. I do however worry about the puppy that we were supposed to get and if he will get the care he needs or not. I don’t for one minute regret purchasing my puppy from that website but I would highly recommend that you look further into the “breeder” that you are purchasing your puppy from before you decide to purchase one.

Puppyfind $20 to post a litter Nextday pets $25 to post a litter Lancasterpuppies.com $90 to post a litter. Greedy. Do not spend your money and post your puppies on this site for the following reasons 1. They prefer that Amish puppy mills use their site only because they have no morals and no values and their puppies and parents are not raised in or around the inside of their home. They're all in Barns!!! If you come on there.... a good moral breeder with only 15 dogs and you raise the puppies in your family home environment. They don't prefer your business. Like me I have a lot of rules and guidelines that I have if you're going to buy a puppy from me. They don't like that. They like puppy mills that don't care where their dogs go and will sell a puppy to anybody with money in their hand. They cancelled my account because I'm too picky. A few people complained that I was too difficult and had too many rules are purchasing one of my toy breed puppies. ~ My rules being ... you must be a homeowner, no puppy sales to a family with children under the age of 2, you must spay and neuter, No Airline shipping... I have to meet the family face-to-face in person, I need to know who's buying my dog. Seems like reasonable rules if you're buying my precious little toy Breed Puppy. 2. After collecting $90 they will remove your ads after receiving a complaint from someone that didn't purchase a dog from you and just merely complained because you're too picky. Don't expect a refund. Don't expect to see a copy of the complaint they will not give it to you. 3. After advertising on there for about 6 months, for every litter that I posted I only sold one puppy from their site. The response level is very low for their site. Not because they don't have a lot of people visiting their site but because they have a thousand puppies on there. They have more puppies on there then visitors are purchasing. Which means that when you pay way more to post your puppies on that site than any other place you will only sell one puppy on average out of each litter. But pay way more. He will spend six times more money and sell six times less puppies. When I have a litter of puppies for sale I will get up to 30 emails a day from other sites. I will get two emails from their site. So don't waste your money because you will not get refunded. Don't waste your time advertising on there if you don't have an Amish puppy mill and on 50 dogs. They won't appreciate your business.

Mini Bernedoodle Puppy

I went through Lancaster Puppies, buying a 5 month old mini bernedoodle puppy from Ruth Miller of http://www.countryacresbulldogs.com/ and he had a massive skin infection on his back the vet had to shave off. We had to administer medicinal wipes and shampoo. He was with us a week and a half. At first he was sweet, but there was some red flags. The one afternoon, unprovoked, he bit our daughter between the eyes and growled and lunged at her. We rehomed him several days after. Not only did we spend a lot of money, but this was both traumatizing to us as a family and for our daughter.

Lancasterpuppies.com

We went to a flea market close to Allentown and there was an Amish guy there with three very dirty skinny puppies. Labradoodles. They smelled horrific. They had no health record or guarantees. The guy didn't even know when his pups were born. He was charging $500 for them. I asked him where does he advertise and he told me Lancaster puppies. I pulled out my cell phone right away and looked up his ads and couldn't believe this site. These puppies were sitting in filth in this crate and they were filthy dirty. But online I seen pictures of the puppies clean and he told me that the site comes out baths the pups and takes pictures of his puppies and then post them for him on-line. What a scam !!! Again this man had no paperwork for his puppies and couldn't even remember when they were born. I was going to turn him into the website he advertises on but then I realized... they completely support this and my complaint would go nowhere.

Our puppy is perfect.

We contacted the person by phone number about an interest in the pug puppies. Got a call back later in the day and made arrangements for the following day to come pick up the puppy. We arrived early and seen the adult pugs. They were able to go in and out of their huge heated dog home that was the size of my huge bathroom. All the dogs had doors to come and go and were separated by barriers in between them. The puppies were able to come and go into a separate area from the adults, and every pup and adult was very socialized and clean. Our pup came with AKC papers, a 1 year health guarantee and showed her vaccinations and deworming. She is absolutely perfect and no health issues and no fleas or anything. I would buy from them again

Spoke with Elam numerous times about a purchase of a cocker spaniel. When we last spoke with Elam on 7/3/17 we were concerned because Callie was listed as SOLD and Elam said that Callie was still available even though Lancaster Puppies showed her as SOLD. Elam said that the evening of 7/3/17 would be better for him instead of 7/4/17. We left Rochester NY about 5:30pm and called Elam on the way to Allenwood for directions.

We called and left messages the whole way there (3hrs) and never recieved a call back. The last message we left was saying we were in Allenwood and he needs to call us with the directions. We waited for 30-40 min. with no response we left for NY.

On the way home on Rt. 15 about 10:30pm we hit a bear and did considerable damage to our car. Luckily we were not injured. All this, a 6.5 hour trip and NO puppy. Don't understand why Elam couldn't give aus a call back and man up and admit the dog was SOLD and save us alot of trouble. Very untrustworthy and down right lied to us.

BEWARE of purchasing puppies from Allenwood puppy mills.

Very good experience

We found our Australian Shepherd online at Lancaster puppies. The woman was super nice and very easy to communicate with. We drove 2.5 hours to their home which was in farm area. The mom dog greeted us and then the woman came out to meet us. She brought us to her attached garage where she had a big, very clean pen that held her 5 puppies. She took them out and my daughters and I played with them for awhile until we picked out our boy. He’s adorable! The only thing we have had issues with was he had worms - which is common in pups- and he’s kind of skiddish around strangers but again I heard that’s common with these breeds. I really don’t have any issues at all about where we got him from and would definitely go back. My nephew also got his havapoo from there about 9 months ago (different breeder) and has a great experience as well.

We bought a perfectly healthy Morkie

we went onto lancasterpuppies.com

~every breeder we contacted was a legitimate breeder. We went to three different people's homes and found our Morkie puppy that we wanted. We paid $1,800 and our puppy is now four years old. We are on the search for a second one. Same website... tomorrow we go to look at a few and we will be bringing home our new puppy.

In general I think people complain too much. They also lack common sense when trying to adopt a new family member.

Here some common rules

1. Think positive be polite

2. breeders usually get paid by an online app like PayPal ...credit card or you mail a check to their physical home address.

3. scammers will always ask you to wire them money through Western Union or MoneyGram. This is something that dog breeders don't do.

Lancasterpuppies.com

We went on these website and visited 5 dog breeders on this site. We were being very picky.

The first 3 places we went were Amish puppy mills, pretty much ran the same way. The parents & the puppy themselves are not inside their homes, not raised in their homes but instead outdoor kennel sheds. I might add that they're kind of dark. The puppies don't have toys. They just pee & poop wherever they want. Their hair is greasy dirty. The parents appear to be clean cause most of them were shaved like sheep. These three places had approximately 50 to 80, 90 dogs and they were doing 6-10 different breeds. They didn't even know anything about the breeds that they are breeding. I swear, one more time, they're breeding dogs and don't even know anything about the breeds. Crazy right ?

The fourth place we went to was a broker for several Amish puppy mills and his pups were also out in a barn style building and the parents were not present at all. It reeked of urine. The pups were dirty. They had loose stool, dirty water.

The fifth place we went to was very decent. They were not Amish or Mennonite. They were a family- married couple, still working full-time, had kids in highschool, had approximately 16 dogs total. Everybody was clean, the place was organized, licensed, inspected by their state, the parents were in the home and the puppies were being raised right there inside their home. We adopted the puppy. Everything was great. The parents were not loose in their home they had an organized in-home kennel. Nice setup.

Here's some advice while shopping on these two classified sites.

1. Most dog breeders nowadays answer puppy information questions inquiries via email. Because it's fastest & most convenient when sharing pictures videos and long bits of information. I noticed that Amish people typically don't do email at all, they only do phone calls and their never available on Sundays. you cannot visit them on a Sunday and you cannot call them and talk to them on a Sunday.

2. Ask if a dog breeder is state-licensed or USDA licensed. If they are just state licensed they are small. If they are USDA licensed they are big !!!

3. find a dog breeder that doesn't airline ship and just sells locally or possibly to their state & surrounding states only. Find one that has some type of transport that they use privately or do it individually themselves. We live in Rhode island and there are no dog breeders here. We had to drive to New York and Pennsylvania to find dog breeders. Most of the smaller ones do offer some type of transportation themselves to get their pups to good families.

4. Only put down small deposits. You should try to pay for your puppy in person. It's best.

5. most dog breeders get paid in person or by PayPal or personal check, cash or credit card. NOOOOOO DOG BREEDERS will ask you to WIRE money to them. Only scammers do this.

6. All dog breeders should offer a guarantee, a health record, starter puppy food, starter shots & wormers and lots of advice. if you're adopting a puppy from somebody that has no questions about you or your family they obviously don't care where their dog goes. Find a dog breeder that ask some questions about where their puppy is going. The dog breeder we chose asked us 15 questions or more.

7. Be sure to thank your dog breeder for their time and work. Be sure to say please & thank you & appreciate.

8. Amish puppy mills are easy to identify and quick to identify on line. Their puppy pictures are often older pictures, not updated, the puppies tend to be dirtier in the pictures. They're not available on Sundays at all.

Don't advertise your pup's with this site

The people that run this Lancaster puppy site are Amish and Mennonite and they are prejudiced against other good dog breeders if the breeder is "not" amish.

Because they are a public classified website for dog breeders and claim not to be brokering for the Amish puppy mills advertising on there, after many years of this claim they have allowed other breeders to advertise on their site that are NOT amish ... Regular in-home breeders, small licensed breeders, breeders that are not Amish.

This site will go out of their way to get rid of good dog breeders with all their so-called policies because they feel in-home breeders interfere with their Amish community getting their puppy sales first & the most sales.

All the Amish puppy mills are complaining that their sales have decreased on this site since they opened the classified site to all dog breeders. Lancaster's puppy site liked it better when they were private and only the Amish advertised on there. For your information the state got involved and said, Lancaster puppy site are brokers if they do not allow "everyone" to advertise on their so-called public classified site. That's why you now see regular normal dog breeders on there instead of just Amish puppy mills. They also dropped the price of their puppy ad fee from $25 per puppy to $15 per puppy after the state accuse them of being brokers and not an online public classified site. Let it be known they are not happy about it and they treat private in-home dog breeders poorly for no reason, other than to give favoritism to the Amish & their deep puppy mill pockets.

Just understand when you advertise on there and you're just a regular dog breeder and not an Amish puppy farm... they will not treat you well.

They also charge about 500% more than anybody else. Jus saying... That's alot more.

To distinguish between Amish puppy mills and regular dog breeders, the Amish are never available on Sundays not for phone calls or visits.

Bought a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy. DNA report showed over breed. At 11 months my pup had hip surgery and I had to get him neutered. I will not be able to breed my pup because hip dysplasia is hereditary. contacted a family member who didn’t care I would not buy from Junior Yoder or his family.

Had a good experience but BE WARE!!

We wanted a puppy to raise in the home with our already 5 year old cat. Since we had a hard time adopting through a shelter, we decided to look else where. A couple friends of our had used Lancaster Puppies in the past and told us what I am about to tell you. BE CAREFUL. Do not paypal or wire anyone money. Do not put down a deposit. I saw the ad on a Friday, we were able to go visit the puppies on Saturday. ASK QUESTIONS!!! A male 8 week old dachshund was put on "hold" for us, we didn't have to give money for that to happen. The woman gave me the address during our initial conversation because I asked for it. We googled the address and found out that it was a home, not some random parking lot or field. When we arrived the puppies were playing in a pen. They were alert, playing, and looked perfectly fine. The woman was nice, she answered all our questions and all while we watched her kids play with the puppies. The only thing that I removed a star for was there was absolutely not vetting process. We could've been getting this puppies for a thousand horrible reasons, but they did not ask one question. We held the puppies, decided to take the one we reserved, and paid the woman. She did give us vet records, a birth date, and their current puppy food to help him switch to another. The whole transaction took 10-15 minutes. Hes healthy, but he did has a small case of ear mites, which is pretty normal. My shelter kitten had them when I adopted him. A very easy fix from a vet. Just be careful do your research.

Treats older people like crap. Don't post your pups on there

I'm an older person and I posted my puppies on the lancasterpuppies.com site. I did some things wrong due to eyesight and amateur internet experience. They called me a liar, they scolded me like a child. Talked down to me. Threatened me. I agree, if you are not an Amish puppy mill they treat you like crap.

Dutch Market Puppy

Right after Christmas 2019 my husband and I went to the Dutch Market here in Maryland on Saturday. As we are walking into the market there is a puppy in a crate sitting outside in front of the market by itself. We went into the market to shop and when we came out the puppy was still sitting there. I found out that the puppy was for sale. I took the puppy because I did not like the idea of it being returned to PA with the Amish man he didn't have any health records with him and

the record he emailed to me was only for a distemper shot, I had to contact the vet myself to find out what shots the puppy had received already before I took her to my vet. I found his litter of puppies on the Lancaster Puppies that is how I found out her date of birth. I didn't get a health guarantee with the puppy, I was lucky my vet stated she was in good health.

Don't purchase puppies off of Lancaster Puppies I know this man was running a puppy mill because I have purchased a puppy from a great breeder and he would never of sold one of his puppies in front of market. I wasn't looking for another puppy because I didn't not like how the puppy was being treated.

Buyer Beware

We corresponded with the “breeder” located in Knox, PA by phone and email several times before sending our deposit to hold a 8 week old beautiful Maltipoo. We were sent pictures of the supposed Mother and Father. We arrived to find our puppy living in the most disgusting, filthy conditions. We drive six hours back home, our clothes and the puppy still reeking. It’s now a month and the dog is not a Maltipoo but a Jack Russell cross. Extremely hyper and I’m allergic to the dog. $1500 later, now trying to find a hone for this dog. Lesson learned, never buy a dog over the internet. I wish I’d seen this site before using the Lancaster Puppies site.

Puppy mill for sure

We purchased a puppy through lancaster puppies and the poor thing was loaded with worms. There were 5 other puppies in the stall with mine and my heart breaks thinking they all have worms. There were 5 four week olds in the neighboring stall and they were probably infected to. I think it's sad that the state of Pennsylvania allows this to go on. Shut them down and Lancaster puppies until they make sure these are healthy puppies
