I am MORTIFIED. My daughter had a kidney stone, we went here as it is the local hospital for us. At the time, we thought our insurance was in effect, but it did not start for 3 days, so we were totally responsible for the bill. When we received it, it was OVER $8700!!!!! (This did not include the doctor, who we were also billed separately for, and we didn't see a doctor during the entire visit).
We KNEW there had to be some mistake. I have paid less to have surgery AND have a baby. When I called their billing office requesting an ITEMIZED statement to see exactly what this $8700 entailed, they were attempting to bill my insurance, and argued with me about it. They acted as if they didn't want to send me the itemized bill to see what this total broke down to be. I realized that because were attempting to bill our insurance, it was fraudulent as the insurance would have simply paid it and not questioned it.
But as a private payer, we now had to inspect it closer.
When I finally received the itemized bill 2 MONTHS later it had almost $2200 for 4 hours in the ER. And $4600 for a CT scan. The median charge for a CT scan is about $500 in our area, the very top amount in our area for a CT scan is about $2200. This was OVER double the highest price. I am blowing the whistle on these fraudulent charges. Be warned, do not go here!
